22nd March, 2025.
Hmmm …
I don’t often repost random bits of news … but it seems Oleg Gordievsky has died at the age of 86.
You’ve never heard of him, have you … ?
I hadn’t either: until a few years ago.
When anyone mentions Soviet defectors, you can ignore the likes of Baryshnikov, or Comăneci.
They were, respectively, a dancer and a gymnast.
Gordievsky was a defecting KGB officer.
And — going by the information he’s said to have brought with him? — prevented a war.
That’s a bit more impressive than doing a plié … !
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“How much money have I lost from gambling in the past ten years? Find out how much money Harpo’s got … that’s how much I’ve lost.”Chico Marx, March 22, 1887 – October 11, 1961.
And a song …
The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum!
† They sound rather nice, Olga: I’ll have to see if Sainsbury’s deli section does them. (The Wikipedia entry say black Botifarra have pigs blood in them. Did I just mention that to a vegetarian?????!!)
Either way, if the birds are staying … ? You may have permanent new neighbours!
‡ Morning, Irene: enjoy the George Benson tune!
§ Yep, he’s a proud Welshmen, Debbi: I think that’s why Russell T. Davies hired him for Dr Who. Oh, and hired Gareth Thomas (Blake’s Seven) for Torchwood. They’re all in the Welsh Mafia!
At any rate, did you see Penny Dreadful? Dalton’s very good in that.

Yes, black botifarra has pig's blood in it. I guess similar to Haggis, although I've only ever tried the vegetarian version of Haggis (and it tasted nothing like botifarra from what I remember, although I was never a big fan, even when I ate meat. The fresh one that you do on the grill, that is nice, but I've never been very big for other types of cold meats and things like that. Serrano ham I used to like...
Yes, I think there might be more little ones in the cooking, as the adults seem to be spending a lot of time in the nest now, while the little one comes and goes, but it's growing a lot, and I can even see the black feather that make the collar start to appear...

I love Timothy Dalton. We thought he made a really good Bond.
His Bond stories ... well, not so much. :) He deserved better. So did Pierce Brosnan, for that matter. Loved him in Remington Steele. :)
