Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30th March, 2025.

30th March, 2025.

It’s officially official: the clocks have gone forward … !

And I’ve had an extra hour in bed.

At least, I think I have.

I could never work that out!

~≈⌚️≈~

You’ll remember that Friday saw me spending time with my nephew: and having a good time.

Until Deliveroo got involved.

The meal we’d ordered was half an hour late, getting to us an hour after we’d ordered it: rather than the promised twenty to thirty minutes.

Thankfully?

And after figuring out the complaints system … ?

Deliveroo have agreed to refund the money.

It will go through, I’m told, ‘in 5-7 working days, depending on your bank’.

Here’s hoping …

~≈🪙≈~

Just as a last thought, if you’re following the t-shirt story: about the t-shirt I’ve ordered … ?

They’ve updated me, again.

It’s now in Woodbridge.

In New Jersey* …

~≈👕≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Mum‡, Irene§ and Debbi¶ putting in their answers: with Olga, Mum and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Irene on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa on 30th March, 1699.   The Khalsa is the community of practising whoms: Sikhs, Jews or Buddhists?

Q2)        30th March, 1900, saw archaeologist find clay tablets with a previously unseen type of writing on them.   What type of writing: Linear A, Linear B or Linear C?

Q3)        The first former US president to be indicted by a Grand Jury, was indicted on 30th March, 2023.   Who was that president … ?

Q4)        30th March, 1880, saw the birth of Seán O’Casey.   Where: Dublin or Belfast?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Warren Beatty was born on 30th March, 1937.   Which Carly Simon song is said to be about him?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        29th March is the Feast day of Saint Gwynllyw.   He’s the patron saint of whom: pirates, postmen or pollywogs?
A1)        Pirates.

Q2)        29th March, 2024, saw the death of Louis Gossett Jr.   He played Fiddler in which 1977 miniseries?
A2)        Roots.

Q3)        The funeral of the first man in space took place on 29th March, 1968.   Who was that man?
A3)        Yuri Gagarin.

Q4)        After the fall of the communist government, 29th March, 1990, saw the government of Czechoslovakia resolve arguments about the country’s new name.   This was known as what: the Hyphen War, Colon War or Apostrophe Wars?
A4)        The Hyphen War.   (It doesn’t sound as bad as the Apostrophe Wars … … )

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat named Taipei 101 as the world’s tallest building: on 29th March, 2004.   The building is where: Thailand, Taiwan or Transnistria?
A5)        Taiwan.
Here’s a thought …
“It’s my rule never to lose me temper till it would be detrimental to keep it.”
From The Plough and the Stars, by Seán O’Casey, 30 March 1880 – 18 September 1964.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        The Mac mini I’m writing this on … ?   Came from a factory in Shenzhen.   Which is further away from me than Woodbridge, where the t-shirt currently is.
Global free markets, eh … ?

I always think that’s where science can learn a thing or two, Olga: by looking at the stuff that’s as common as muck.   I seem to recall reading that archeologists had no idea, sometimes, what an ancient clay tablet was talking about: as — for the writers of the thing — the subject was so well known they didn’t need to explain it.
It’s official, Olga: they’ve issued a refund.   It should be with me in the middle of April … … …

        Hello, Mum!

§        Morning, Irene: how’s Jim doing … ?

        Oh, I know, Debbi.   I know … !
Oh, did you catch my recent review of Episode One of The Savages?   The tune got me a warning about copyrighted music: but allows me to still use it.   The clip from a well known TV show, at the end … ?   Got ignored …

Yes, that's true. And good on the refund. I hope it comes sooner rather than later. I'm sure they will have told you, but you slept one less hour last night. If you think about it, it is evident. At 2 am it suddenly becomes 3 am, and that means that hour disappears, whiles in the fall, at 3 it is 2 again, so you get to live (or sleep) that hour twice. So, if you're feeling tired today, that is the reason.
