Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th March 2025.

25th March, 2025.

Right …

It’s now, officially, Tuesday.

Which means we can excitedly jump up and down.

If we want to.

Or won’t look strange.

What have you … !

~≈😳≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve got an unboxing video done, if you’re interested.

The contents of that package … ?

Are currently being ripped with my copy of HandBrake.app: and it’s taking around fifteen minutes or so to transcode each episode.

It’s fast, in other words.

~≈🧑🏻‍💻≈~

I am knackered: after a late night posting videos.

I’ve finally finished another review.

And, as enjoyable as watching Close Encounters was … ?

Making the video version of the review with DaVinci Resolve was fiddly.

Yes: there’s a good tonal range of effects and transitions.

And I think I’ve worked out how to reduce the fringing one gets using green screen in the app.

But … ?

Going on what happened, last night, and a few comments I’ve seen online, this version of DaVinci — 19.1.4 — seems a touch buggy.

It managed to lose the media I was working on, last night, and freeze: meaning I had to reset everything.

And it crashed this morning.

Yes: it’s got more options than iMovie.

But iMovie’s far more stable!

~≈✩≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        25th March is the feast day of Humbert of Maroilles.   He’s the patron saint of where: Ottawa, Edmonton or Quebec City?

Q2)        Jerome Savage first sublet what became Newington Butts Theatre: on 25th March, 1576.   It was one of the earliest theatres, where: London, Manchester or Coventry?

Q3)        Walter Raleigh was granted a patent: on 25th March, 1584. To colonise what’s now where: Virginia, Maryland or New York?

Q4)        PAE G.S. Diagoras 1905 was founded: on 25th March, 1905.   PAE G.S. Diagoras 1905 is a football club from where: Italy, Greece or Spain?

Q5)        Finally … ?   25th March is Independence Day, where: Italy, Greece or Spain?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        24th March is National Tree Planting Day.   Where: Tunisia, Uganda or the Western Sahara?
A1)        Uganda.

Q2)        According to the UN, 24th March is the International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of whom?
A2)        International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims.

Q3)        24th March is the feast day of Saint Hildelith of where: Barking, Romford or Havering-atte-Bower?
A3)        Barking.   (I don’t think Billy Bragg’s written a song about her.)

Q4)        24th March is World Tuberculosis Day.   Tuberculosis is caused by a what: a virus, a bacterium or a protozoa?
A4)        A Bacteria: specifically, Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

A5)        Tennis.
Here’s a thought …
“I think acting is magic.   If I tell you all about myself it will spoil it.”
Patrick Troughton, 25 March 1920 – 28 March 1987.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        My pleasure, Olga: I’m glad I could help!
To be honest: my weight was up, again: by a comparatively large amount.   To be fair to the people running it, they blamed last week’s temporary move to an upstairs room: moving scales around can throw them off.
Was your reader using something other than Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge?   I know that both Google and Microsoft have a habit of using code that means a page will only work properly with their browsers: but not necessarily with others.   I do surveys for YouGov: and one or two specific pages only work with those browsers, but not Safari, Firefox, et al.   “Embrace, extend, and extinguish”, they used to call it: and it’s the only reason I keep a copy of Google Chrome.
        Have fun with the paperwork!

        Hello, Mum!

I hope the therapy went well, Debbi.   I just hope today’s are as short.   Actually, I hope the ones on April 3rd are as short!   It was tempting to go over-board with Kubrick’s Finest!

Ii have no idea what she uses, because she is not one of my usual readers. (Not that I know the browser everybody uses either). Keep up with the experiments. As you well know, it's one step forward and two back.
