Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-3-2025 — World Theatre Day.

27th March, 2025: World Theatre Day.

Right then: it’s Wednesday.

And I might — might — have a haircut.

Please notice I say ‘might’.

On the other hand … ?

I might just spend what little money I have on a takeaway.

On the third hand?

I might just save it for a rainy day.

I just don’t know.

Just so you know?

I caught the first episode of Classic Dr Who series, The Savages, last night.

It’s looking good, so far: but there’s possibly one or two points to address.

Either way?

I should have my review done, by tonight.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Mum and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Irene on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        27th March is World Theatre Day.   Most Western theatre is a descendent of theatre from Ancient where: Greece, Egypt or Rome … ?

Q2)        That Ancient country’s theatre included tragedy, comedy and what: satyr plays, centaur plays or Sibylline plays?

Q3)        If you’re in an operating theatre, you’re what: an actor, a patient or a dog handler?

Q4)        It’s a cinema in British English.   What is it in American English … ?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Katja Ebstein’s “Theatre” was Germany’s Eurovision entry: for which year of the 1980s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        26th March saw the first publication of The Book of Mormon.   In which year of the 1830s?
A1)        1830.

Q2)        It was published by whom: Joseph Smith Jr, L. Run Hubbard or Sun Myung Moon?
A2)        Joseph Smith Jr.

Q3)        It’s a sacred text to whom: the Latter Day Saints, Jehovah’s Witnesses or Scientologists?
A3)        The Latter Day Saints: also known as the Mormons.

Q4)        The Book of Mormon’s followers consider it one of their four standard works, and on a par with what: the Bible, the Quran or the Bhagavad Gita?
A4)        The Bible.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Book’s inspired a musical about its believers.   What’s the musical called?
A5)        The Book of Mormon.
Here’s a thought …

“Hostility to the theatre is as old as the theatre itself.   Plato banished the theatre from his ideal republic. Church fathers from Tertullian to Augustine denounced it.   Our colonial ancestors did their best to keep it out of America, and when it arrived, they greeted it with the kind of demonstration they usually reserved for British tax collectors.”
Edmund S. Morgan.

And a video …

The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

It’s looking iffy, Olga: I suspect I’ll have issue when my benefits come up for review.

        Morning, Irene … !

§        Oh, TELL me about it, Debbi!   I thought this might appeal …
        Oh, by the way … ?   That lorry’s left its rear doors open … … … …

Ah, it’s not Wednesday. It’s Thursday. A takeaway doesn’t sound like a good idea if you’re trying to lose weight, unless you’re thinking about very healthy options. And considering how things are going, perhaps saving up would be the wisest thing to do, but there isn’t much of an incentive to save these days either, so… Whatever you decide will be good.
I’m sure I’ve seen an egg in the nest, but trying to take a picture or a video of it is tricky, because the two grown-up birds don’t leave the nest alone very long (or at least not when I’m watching). I haven’t seen the young one for a while now. He might have moved on or be looking for a special collared dove… (I think it might be too young for that, but, no idea. It seemed to be taking turns at the nest for the first couple of days, but not any longer).
There was a sort of debate (not really a debate) here about the defense expenses (Pedro Sánchez insists on not calling it rearmament), and he says they will increase the expenses without reducing the funding for social programmes. How? He doesn't say. It must be magic.
They did mention the UK announcement of cuts as well, so yes... You're right to be worried. Well, everybody, apart from the owners or investors in the weapons' industry, that is
