Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 23rd September, 2017: Saudi Arabia

Hmmm … I’m up early …

As today?

I start work at ten.

So I’d like to get out of the door at 8:30 … ish …

Which is kind of interesting: as I’m getting to hear all sorts of things on Radio 4’s iPM.

All about asexuality.

Which sounds odd, to me, but there you go: but everyone’s different.

At any rate?

I’m up, early: after having got to bed, early.

Which meant I caught the last two episode of American Horror Story: Coven, early, last night.

Interesting conclusion, there.

Not necessarily the best — we could’ve had a neater conclusion the Marie Laveau and Delphine LaLaurie — but certainly interesting.

And covered in Stevie Nicks tunes …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 23rd September saw two kingdoms form Saudi Arabia.   Name either.
Q2) The union was in which year of the 1930s?
Q3) The Saudi Arabian royal family is the House of … what?
Q4) What’s the Saudi capital city?
Q5) Finally … some ninety per cent of Saudi’s money comes from which industry?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) BBC reporter, John Simpson, was the only BBC reporter to report form Taleban held Afghanistan: after being smuggled in on 22nd September, 2001.   Whilst wearing what?
A1) A burqa: the traditional all encompassing robes worn by women in some Islamic countries.
Q2) Who was elected as Haitian President: on 22nd September, 1957?
A2) François Duvalier: also known as Papa Doc.
Q3) Who was born on 22nd September, TA 2890?
Q4) Lord Randolph Churchill gave a speech in what’s now Northern Island: on 22nd September, 1885.   About what: Home Rule, the Poll Tax or the Corn Laws?
A4) Home Rule.
Q5) Finally … 22nd September saw the first issue of the first issue of National Geographic.   In which year?
A5) 1888.
Here’s a thought …
“Saudi Arabia has become a firm friend of the United States. As its influence dramatically expands in the world, Saudi Arabia has been not only a firm supporter of the peace process but a moderating and conciliatory force on a wide range of global issues.”
President Jimmy Carter, in a 1978 Letter to Congress.
And a national anthem …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I think — for me, at any rate, Olga — a good read’s a good read: whatever form it’s actually in.   So I don’t necessarily have anything against an e-reader: although is part of it is the cash, so seeing freebies — and yes, I’d noticed them — is always appreciated!   (Actually, I really should get a new phone, myself: and I’m eyeballing a couple of cheap Huaweis.   Saying that?   I really would like an iPhone.   I can stream anything from it, or my iPod, straight to the Apple TV: with out much fuss.   I’ll have to charge that iPod, actually: Channel Four’s catch up app is on iOS: but not on the AppleTV!)

†        It’s the smell of the paper, isn’t it, Debbi?   Oh, have you or Olga ever caught Franklyn?   I keep meaning to try and sit down with it, again: the set design is incredible!
