Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th September, 2017

Ye gods, I’ve just realised something.

My next day off is Thursday!

Means … well …

Possibly, quite a lot!

I do know it’s going to be a bit of a slog, though.

Especially as I’m doing a 41 week, next week.

Still …

It pays for Christmas …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1) 24th September, 1890, saw the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints — the Mormons — renounce polygamy.   What does the Church call polygamy: flirty fishing, plural marriage or free love?
Q2) Gandhi put his name to the Poona Pact: on 24th September, 1932.   This reserved seats in India’s parliament for whom: Muslims, Jains, Brahmans or Untouchables?
Q3) Nirvana’s best known album — Nevermind — was released on 24th September, 1991.   The opening track was the band’s biggest hit.   What was the name of that track?
Q4) Honda was formally incorporated on 24th September, 1948.   What’s the company best known for: cars, trains, computer chips or oil production?
Q5) Finally … the Second Council of Nicaea started meeting: on 24th September, 787.   It met in which famous church: Saint Peter’s in Rome, Saint Paul’s in London or the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 23rd September saw two kingdoms form Saudi Arabia.   Name either.
A1) Hejaz or Najd.
Q2) The union was in which year of the 1930s?
A2) 1932.
Q3) The Saudi Arabian royal family is the House of … what?
A3) Saud.
Q4) What’s the Saudi capital city?
A4) Riyadh.
Q5) Finally … some ninety per cent of Saudi’s money comes from which industry?
A5) The Saudi Oil Industry.
Here’s a thought …
“I would travel only by horse, if I had the choice.”
Linda McCartney, September 24, 1941 – April 17, 1998.
And, as it’s Gerry Marsden’s birthday, a tune …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a nice day …

*        It’s worth a go, Olga‡: the set design of Meanwhile City is gorgeous!

†        You should see Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Debbi‡: BIT of a theme thing going on … !   (Franklyn’s set design is … ummm … )

‡        Actually, Debbi, Olga … ?   Are we both OK with the five questions themed sets?   Much as I prefer doing the ten question themed Teasers — they’re built on templates I used for table rounds, when I hosted pub quizzes — there’s time when the shorter form is all I have time to write.

Q1) plural marriage
Q2) Untouchables
Q3) Smells Like Teen Spirit
Q4) Cars
Q5) Hagia Sophia in Istanbul
5 questions work well for me as I can fit it in between longer things. If I'm running late and I see it's 10 questions I leave it until I finish everything and then sometimes it's too late to post.
Franklyn looks quite good. Must try and find it.

Shorter for us to take, too! :)

1. plural marriage
2. Untouchables (I'm conjuring a picture in my mind of Elliot Ness! :))
3. Smells Like Teen Spirit
4. cars
5. Hagia Sophia in Istanbal
