Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-9-2017: Confucius Say …

Hmmm …

I’m mildly nervous, at the moment.

After all, I’ve an interview, tonight: for a local cab firm.

And thinking it’s a shame I couldn’t afford a haircut, last week.

I’m looking — or at least feeling — a bit shaggy.

I’ve seen myself in the mirror, this morning.

My hair’s even spikier than Keith Flint’s!

On other fronts?

I do know my mother’s got back from a family trip, to Tyne Cot: the Commonwealth cemetery in Belgium.

Frankly?

I’m hoping to get hold of more of the photos from the various family members who were there.

Some sort of compilation would be nice …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Confucius was born on 28th September.   In which year: 549 BC, 551 BC or 553 BC?
Q2) He’s also known as 孔子, or Kong Zi.   Kong Zi means what: Master Kong, King Kong or Kong Fu?
Q3) Confucius was born in the town of Qufu.   Qufu is in which Chinese Province: Shandong, Hainan or Sichuan?
Q4) Confucius famously said “What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others.”   This is known as the what rule?
Q5) Finally?   What’s the name of Confucius’s best known book: the Dialects, Analects or Retrospects?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Which search engine claims 27th September, 1998, as its birthday: Ask Jeeves, Yahoo or Google?
A1) Google.
Q2) What’s that search engine’s parent company?
A2) Alphabet.
Q3) Those companies?   Are headquartered in Mountain View.   Mountain View is in which US state?
Q4) That HQ is called what?
A4) The Googleplex.
Q5) The search engine itself, searches on what: the ’Net, the World Wide Web or databases?
A5) The World Wide Web.
Q6) Name either of the company’s two founders.
Q7) The search engine uses an algorithm to rank pages, and present them to us.   That algorithm is called what?
A7) PageRank.
Q8) Not counting the white background it’s on, the search engine’s logo features how many colours: two, three or four?
A8) Four.   (Famously, Steve Jobs criticized it: for having the wrong shade of yellow.)
Q9) Rival search engine, Bing, is owned by which computer company?
A9) Bing.
Q10) Finally?   According to one of the buttons on the engine’s default home page?   I’m feeling … what?
A10) Lucky.
Here’s a thought …
“I am not bothered by the fact that I am not understood. I am bothered when I do not know others.”
Confucius, September 28, 551 BC – 479 BC.
And some music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Will do, Olga!   (Keep your fingers crossed for me, tonight, please!)

†        Interesting ones to catch, Debbi.   (This was back when Microsoft was JUST doing software.   They only started making taking over the planet, when they introduced Windows.)

Good luck! I've just arrived home from Wales, but thankfully the way back home was not as bad as the way there and I got here on time. All the best!
