Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18th August 2023.

18th August, 2023.

Right … I’ve officially woken up … with an earworm!

From the Star Trek Strange New Worlds episode, “Subspace Rhapsody”: a weird mashup of Jess Bush’s “I’m Ready”, and Rebecca Romijn’s “Connect to Your Truth”.

Why?

Well, I don’t know!

The only way I can deal with it … ?

Is to play something else* … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi¶ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        18th August, 1969, saw the birth of actor, Edward Norton.   He played Derek Vinyard in which 1998 film: Rounders, American History X or Fight Club?

Q2)        18th August, 2023, is a Friday.   When was it last a Friday?

Q3)        Princess Abe became Empress: on 18th August, 707AD.   Empress of where?

Q4)        Max Factor, Jr, was born on 18th August, 1904.   The company he was president of, made what: make up, soap or frozen vegetables?

Q5)        Finally … ?   18th August, 1917, saw the birth of former US Secretary of Defence, Casper Weinberger.   He was Secretary of Defence for which President: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan or George Bush Sr?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        17th August, 1985, saw strike action start at the Hormel meat packing plant in Minnesota.   Hormel made what: Spam, Marmite or Coors Beer?
A1)        Spam.

Q2)        Former senior Nazi, Rudolf Hess, died on 17th August, 1987.   In which German prison?
A2)        Spandau.

Q3)        17th August, 1896, saw the death of Bridget Driscoll.   She was the first person in UK record to be what: run over by a car, run over by a train or run over by a boat?

Q4)        17th August saw the attempted launch of the Pioneer-0 (Zero) probe.   On 17th August of which year of the 1950s?
A4)        1958.

Q5)        Finally … ? Fantasmagorie was released on 17th August, 1908.   The world’s first animated cartoon was made, where: France, Germany or Spain?
A5)        France.

Here’s a thought …
“It’s easy to direct while acting — there’s one less person to argue with.”
 Roman Polanski, 18 August 1933.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’m guessing the singer, Jain, is left handed: because of the way she’s painting that zebra.   But I don’t know for sure.   Either way … ?   I’m vaguely reminded of Wednesday Adams …

Oh, you’re probably right: other’s were probably killed.   But Bridget was the first recorded one.   As for questionnaires … ?   I don’t think you’ll need any of mine, but feel free to plunder!

Very true, Debbi, very true … !   (Oh, have you got to Subspace Rhapsody, as yet … ?)

Thanks, Paul. Oh, the questionnaires were to the people decorating each street, and it was about the festival and the decorations, but I am sure yours will come handy some day. We do some quizzes these days, but they are mostly music related, although they can get quite competitive! Thanks for the offer!
