Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd August 2023.

22nd August, 2023.

Yes: it’s officially Tuesday!

Which means I’m feeling vaguely impatient.

Yep: it’s payday, tomorrow.

And, as ever?

Means ‘vaguely’ doesn’t even start!

~≈®≈~

At any rate … ?

I do know my nephew, Jude, was here, yesterday.

He has, as ever … managed to make his own videos.

Although he found lining up the audio with exactly where he wanted it, frustrating: at least in the third video …

Still, I think he’s done well.

Now …

If anyone wants to give a 12 year old YouTuber, a Mac mini?

They’d be welcome!

~≈®≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

The day also saw Olga‡ leaving us a message!

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Jessica-Jane Applegate, born 22 August 1996.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

:D   At ANY rate, Debbi, how are you with some of the Star Wars series?   There’s one out, tomorrow, called Ahsoka.   I get the impression it’s more of a Space Western — like The Mandalorian — than a WW2 drama, like Andor.

‡        Those decorations look amazing, Olga!   The Minecraft ones caught my eye.   As did the Space Invaders, and Pac Man machines!   Are they authentic?   Because they can go for a fortune!   Oh, and the van seems to have come a cropper.   Oh, hang on, it’s from Stranger Things, isn’t it?   It’s Upside Down … !

Ah Bosworth Field. Penny and I arrived there by steam train on the Battlefield line (a heritage railway line). We walk all over the battle field and visited the information centre. We on the way back to the railway past the spot where the king who finished upunder a parking lot in Leichester was killed.

Speaking of paydays I have 6 paydays this month.Normally on a quarterly month i have 5 paydays but due to my state pension being paid every 4 weeks i have 2 state pensions this month. I have had 4 of those paydays already with the final 2 at the end of the month.

I'm familiar with a lot of the shows in the series, but not all.

Some of it, in my case, is ancient history. :)

2. South Africa
3. Religion or Belief

Thanks, Paul. No, all the decorations are handmade, using recycled materials. The game machines are made out of cardboard. I think the younger people in the streets chose the themes (Stranger Thins and Mine Craft), and the older ones helped make the decorations, although many of them were not familiar with the subjects, but they've done very well indeed. It seems the Minecraft one has attracted quite a few young fans of the game and they are coming to take pictures and pose for selfies with the decorations. They only got the 8th place in the official competition, but they are ahead, so far in the popular vote. I'll keep you posted. And well done to your nephew.
Oh, by the way, I know I mentioned those Google Coursera certificates and the grants they were offering here. I put my name down for one of them (on UX Design, with no requirement for any previous knowledge), and I got in. I am not sure I'll get to the end of the course, but if I don't, the grant will go to somewhere else, so it shouldn't be a loss. We shall see. It is not one of my strong points, but I hope I might learn something useful. As to future jobs... Well, one never knows. Worth a try, anyway, and it should help keep the brain ticking.
