Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 3-8-2023 — Tony Bennett.

3rd August, 2023: Tony Bennett.

Yes: there was a lot of yelling on the street, this morning.

At just gone six thirty.

A quick look out of the window told me what was going on: a chap over the road was getting arrested.

And carted off in an unmarked police car.

Why, I don’t know.

But it certainly adds interest to the morning.

~≈¥≈~

Hmmm …

Did I mention I’m on benefits?

I’m on benefits: so you know.

And … ?

It turns out that, in theory, I may be eligible for a disabled persons bus pass.

As the cataracts I have mean I may be partially sighted: and cannot drive.

OK, I don’t drive: I never passed my test.

But there’s a possibility I may to get that bus pass.

All I have to do … ?

Is get a letter from an eye specialist, to say so.

To do that … ?

I need to get a letter from my doctor.

Which may, unfortunately, cost.

We’ll have to see what happens, there.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five: and Olga and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        3rd August saw the birth of the late Tony Bennett.   In which year of the 1920s?

Q2)        He recorded an LP called Cheek to Cheek.   With which singer: Kate Bush, Amy Winehouse or Lady Gaga?

Q3)        He recorded, and released, his signature song, “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” in which year of the 1960s?

Q4)        Tony was born in which US city: New York, Chicago or San Diego?

Q5)        Finally … ?   One of Tony’s last performances was on the 3rd August.   Of which of the 2020s?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        2nd August is marked by the Council of Europe — amongst others — as Roma Holocaust Memorial Day.   The Romani word for the Holocaust, ‘Porajmos’, means what: destruction, devouring or genocide?
A1)        The Devouring.

Q2)        2nd August, 2022, saw the death of of sportscaster, Vin Scully.   Which character in The X-Files is named after him?
A2)        Dana Scully.   (This is another one of those questions.   In a live quiz, someone will be saying “That can’t be the answer, it’s too damn obvious!”)

Q3)        2nd August is Republic Day.   Where: North Macedonia, Serbia or Bulgaria?
A3)        North Macedonia.

Q4)        2nd August, 1945, saw the end of the Potsdam Conference.   Potsdam is in which modern European country?
A4)        Germany.

Q5)        Finally … ? Pingali Venkayya was born on 2nd August, 1876.   Or on 2nd August, 1878.   He help designed India’s what: flag, coinage or constitution?
A5)        Flag.
Here’s a thought …
“You know though, if you steal from one person, you’re just a thief.   But if you steal from everyone, that’s research.”
Tony Bennett.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I’m keeping my fingers crossed, as well, Olga¶.   And, yes, I’m hoping she’ll be able to do something, too!
I’ve seen stranger titles.   I’ve just done a quick Google search and — apparently — at least one barman claimed to be a ‘Beverage Dissemination Officer’ on his CV.   A counsellor became a ‘problem wrangler’.   As for the ‘Professionalist International and world-wide optical and vision-focused tenured professorship’ … ?   The article left that blank …
I think he wants to be a YouTuber … or a boxer … !   Hopefully, though, knowing how to edit videos can be useful for something …
Hmmm … I tried the Slimfast thing, many years ago: but keeping the weight off can be tricky, once you’ve finished.   I’ll have a look at that link, though.   (The blood sugars are fine: the weight is up …)
Oh, the twins are three!?   They still sounds like they’re going through the terrible twos … !

        Hello, Mum¶!

I’d imagine Rick would be grateful for that Debbi!   :D   (Would he mind being an Igor§, though: incredibly capable assistant to a mad scientist/vampire clan/werewolf family/wizard/what-have-you?)

¶        Just so you both know, ‘porajmos’ translates as ‘devouring’.   It’s a very poetic way of putting it.

§        Condo — in The Brain of Morbius — is a version of the same sort of character.

Love some of those titles. And yes, I think the twins are holding on to the terrible twos even if the age has passed. ;)
