Friday 4 August 2023

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4th August 2023.

4th August, 2023.

Right … It’s officially Friday.

And, tonight?

I’m going to be watching “Subspace Rhapsody”, the next episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

It sounds like it could be interesting …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        4th August, 1578, saw Cardinal Henry named as King of which European country: Spain, Portugal or Romania?

Q2)        4th August is the feast day of Saint Sithney: the patron saint of mad dogs.   He’s also a patron of a small village, where: Cornwall, Devon or Somerset?

Q3)        4th August, 1873, saw the US 7th Cavalry clash with the Cheyenne, and Lakota Sioux.   Who led the Seventh Cavalry?

Q4)        NASA launched its Phoenix spacecraft on 4th August.   Of which year of the 21st Century?

Q5)        Finally … ?   4th August is Constitution Day in the Cook Islands.   The Islands are where: the South Pacific, North Pacific or North Atlantic?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        3rd August saw the birth of the late Tony Bennett.   In which year of the 1920s?
A1)        1926.

Q2)        He recorded an LP called Cheek to Cheek.   With which singer: Kate Bush, Amy Winehouse or Lady Gaga?
A2)        Lady Gaga.

Q3)        He recorded, and released, his signature song, “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” in which year of the 1960s?
A3)        1962.

Q4)        Tony was born in which US city: New York, Chicago or San Diego?
A4)        New York.

Q5)        Finally … ?   One of Tony’s last performances was on the 3rd August.   Of which of the 2020s?
A5)        2021.   (He was living with Alzheimer’s, at the time: and, apparently, Gaga was helpful for him.   His wife, Susan, added “… once he saw the audience (...) and he raises his hands, (...) I knew we were alright because he became himself.   He just turned on.   You know, it was like a light switch.”     Music is said to be helpful for Alzheimer’s patients: this sounds like a case in point.)

Here’s a thought …
“We have no choice if we are to continue on the path of a more perfect union.”
Barack Obama, born August 4, 1961.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

They are definitely strange, Olga!   Quite what a fashion evangelist is supposed to do, I don’t know!
The twins possibly aren’t the only ones … !

My pleasure, Debbi, any time!   (I’ve no more 10 question sets planned: as of this morning.   But I’m due to start on the left hander’s day set today: I’ll give you and Olga a shout!   Oh, about the package?   Apparently, there’s talk of improbability fields … )

You're right about the terrible twos doing on for longer for a lot of people... I hope you enjoy the series. For some reason, I lost interest in series and find it difficult to watch any. (I can watch episodes of series that are fairly independent from one another, but I lose patience easily with the ones with a follow-through story.)
