Saturday 12 August 2023

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th August 2023.

12th August, 2023.

Yes: it’s Saturday …

And, frankly?

I’m looking forward to finishing my review of the last episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

“Hegemony” is an interesting episode: with interesting guest characters!

As a completely incidental point?

At about one minute and ten seconds into that clip, some twenty-four minutes and forty-two seconds into the episode?

There’s a five note riff: a sort of doot-DOOT, doot-DOOT riff … that, to me sounds VERY similar to something in the original theatrical version of Alien.

Whether it is, or it isn’t?

We’d possibly need to let a court decide.

But?

Given the Gorn episodes are Star Trek’s take on Alien, it seems a nice, and atmospheric, touch.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

*        I’ll try and keep my eyes peeled for him, Olga!   And it sounds like there’s more Spanish TV to catch up with!
Stay safe out there, OK … !   It sounds like it’s going to be toasty … !

It might be an idea, Debbi!   Hmmm … wasn’t there a lot of Irish people settled in Maryland?   Around the Boston area … ?   That would explain a few things.
Oh, I’ve just looked the place up, on Google Maps.   How far IS Chevy Chase from Sligo Creek … ?!!

I hope you have a great day as well. The heatwave is supposed to be on its way out, but here, because we haven't been badly affected, it seems that we'll get hotter weather in any case (although just about the usual for this time of the year).
There are many interesting Spanish series, although the real old ones sometimes can feel "ancient" and not in a good way. But Sancho Gracia (Rodolfo's father) was a charming man, and people remember him with great affection.

Yeah, I think Maryland was a haven for Catholics. As I vaguely recall from elementary school history.

Chevy Chase is a bit of a hike from Sligo Creek. About a 15 or 20 minute drive, I guess. Depending on traffic, which is always terrible here. :) The creek is very close to where my high school used to be. They moved it into a new building. Anyway, it was my favorite place to go when I ... ahem! ... cut classes now and then.

Don't cut classes, Jude!

1. the First Crusade
2. Interface
3. Asian elephant
4. Scientologists
5. Mrs. Hudson

And there you go! Quiz answers and a PSA! :)

Stay in school. Nice video work!
