Sunday 20 August 2023

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-8-2023 — Hungary.

20th August, 2023: Hungary.

Right … it’s a quiet Sunday morning.

And, frankly?

I’m looking at a quiet one.

Bar filming, of course!

Frankly?

I’m looking forward to the new week: I can possibly get a few things done.

~≈Ù≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        20th August is State Foundation Day in Hungary: as it marks the first King of Hungary.   Who was that King: Saint Stephen, Saint Carl or Saint Johan?

Q2)        Hungary, itself, is on which continent: Europe, Africa or Asia?

Q3)        What’s Hungary’s capital: Budapest, Miskolc or Györ?

Q4)        What’s Hungary’s currency: the Euro, Forint or Krona?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Hungarian Goulash is usually made with what: paprika, thyme or cumin?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        19th August, 1940, saw the first flight of the B-25 Mitchell.   The plane was a what: fighter plane, cargo plane or bomber?
A1)        A bomber.

Q2)        Gary Powers was sentenced by the Soviet Union: after flying a U-2 plane over the Soviet Union.   He was sentenced on 19th August of which year of the 1960s?
A2)        1960.

Q3)        In a non-leap year, 19th August is the 231st day of the year.   Is 231 a prime number?
A3)        No.

Q4)        According to the United Nations?   According to the UN, 19th August is World what Day: World Health Day, World Humanitarian Day or World Peace Day?
A4)        World Humanitarian Day.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Trial of the Sixteen started on 19th August, 1936: as part of the Great Purge.     Purge, and trial, were in which country: the USA, USSR or People’s Republic of China?
A5)        The USSR.

Here’s a thought …
“The territory of present-day Hungary has for centuries been a crossroads for various peoples, including Celts, Romans, Germanic tribes, Huns, West Slavs and the Avars.”
From the Wikipedia entry on Hungary.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Oh, tell me about it, Olga!   I’m just grateful there’s a few checkable resources on line!   At any rate?   We’ll see you when you’re older: have a good week!

        Hello, Mum!

Glad to help, Debbi!   Oh, Season four of Lower Decks is out on 7th September: it looks like fun!
