Saturday 9 March 2024

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th March 2024.

9th March, 2024.

Right … it’s Saturday …

And the day after I found out the one shop in Brentwood won’t take the laptop I’m trying to sell.

It isn’t — despite actually working — in good enough condition to resell.

I have my suspicions: that the guy running the shop did not assess the thing for repair or refurbishment: as the thing was left where it had been put, when I took it in.

But nothing I can actually prove.

Either way … ?

I’m not exactly happy … !

*        Hello, Mum!

†        I was always fonder of The Young Ones, Debbi‡!   I think I’ve mention that Christopher Ryan, who played Mike, also played General Staal!

‡        Actually, they mention the Rutans in that second clip, Debbi.   The BBC’s released a blu-ray version of Season 15: complete with a revamped version of The Horror of Fang Rock!   (It also features The Sunmakers: one of Robert Holmes’ more satirical scripts!)

Q1) Barcelona. Yes, I know the image that appears in the wikipedia article, as it’s in the Cathedral of Barcelona (not La Sagrada Familia, the old Gothic Cathedral).

Q2) 68th

Q3) New Deal

Q4) Indonesia

Q5) chess (I watched an interesting movie about him not that long ago... He sounds quite mad towards the end. One wonders...
Sorry to hear about the laptop. There are people who can’t be bothered to do what they’re supposed to do, even if it is their job. Not that I am suspicious or anything...
We have plenty of rain today, which we need, although I’m supposed to be covering a literary walk this afternoon, so not the best conditions for such a thing, although, so far, it doesn’t look as if they’re going to cancel it...
Sorry I didn't come by, but between the funeral, the test, going to the radio and one thing and another (including an online workshop I'd forgotten) it ended up being a very long day, and not a terrible productive one, but at least we were there for our relatives, and we survived. Do take care.

You guys had the whole meta thing down cold. Way before we did. :)

Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In came closest, I guess. The humor hasn't aged well, though.

There was, however, "Green Acres". They once called attention to the credits as part of the show. Like "Will Trent" does now.

1. Barcelona
2. 68th
3. New Deal (and we need another one!)
4. Indonesia
5. chess
