Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-6-2016

Did I tell you today is the Summer Solstice?

I didn’t?

Today — in the Northern hemisphere — marks the Summer Solstice: the longest day of the year, and, according to those in the know, the start of meteorological summer.

There’s a problem with that.

I’ve looked out of my window.

Given it’s flaming’ June?
  • It’s gruesome.
  • I’ve got my heating on!
You’re right …

It’s summer …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let‘s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The US Congress Adopted the Great Seal of the United States: on 20th June, 1782.   What animal features on the Seal: an elephant, donkey or eagle?
Q2) British troops captured in India on 20th June, 1756, were held in a dungeon at Fort William.   The dungeon is notoriously known as the Black Hole of where?
Q3) The Victoria Terminus — India’s then busiest station — opened on 20th June, 1887.   The station’s in which Indian city?
Q4) The village of Baltimore was attacked by Algerian pirates: on 20th June, 1631.   The village is in what’s now which country: the USA, Ireland or Australia?
Q5) Finally … 20th June is World Refugee Day.   Many refugees suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress … what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 19th June, 1978, saw the birth of actress, Zoe Saldana.   Which character does she play, in the new Star Trek films?
A1) Uhura.
Q2) Who — in his absence — was found guilty of murdering Sandra Rivett, on 19th June, 1975?
A2) John Bingham, 7th Earl Lucan, informally known as Lord Lucan.
Q3) Cartoon strip, Garfield, debuted on 19th June, 1978.   Exactly what kind of animal IS Garfield?
A3) A cat.   (Effectively?   He’s 38: the same age as Zoe Saldana …)
Q4) 19th June, 1934, saw President Franklin D Roosevelt sign the law that brought the Federal Communications Commission into being.   The FCC regulates the use of what by the US, and its citizens: radio, prescription medication or air-travel?
A4) Radio.
Q5) Finally … A solar eclipse occurred: on 19th June, 1917.   Such an eclipse happens when what, comes between Earth and the sun?
A5) The Moon.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I was snorting cocaine, which I shouldn’t have gotten into. It messed up my mind, and it unplugged me from music.”
Brian Wilson, of the Beach Boys, born 20th June, 1942.
And this tune …

Have a nice day …

*         Yeah … I THINK President Obama’s right, then … US gun control regulation needs looking at!
