Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th June, 2020

7th June, 2020.

It’s officially the case … I need a repaired boiler!

Remember, at the start of the year, I had my old boiler replaced with a new one?

Well … it seems that — after a recent brief powercut — the thermostat’s gone.

I can access hot water: just.

But have no heating.

Again.

It would happen now, wouldn’t it … ?

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring ten out of ten in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The Royal Assent was granted to the Representation of the People Act 1832: on 7th June, 1832.   Did the Act allow women to vote?
Q2) The Lateran treaty was signed on 7th June, 1929: setting up Vatican City in the process.   It was signed by which county’s Parliament?
Q3) 7th June, 1909, saw the birth of actress, Jessica Tandy.   In which film did she play Daisy Werthan?
Q4) Dean Martin was born on 7th June, 1917.   In which 1981 film did he play Jamie Blake?
Q5) Finally … ?   7th June, 1099, saw the start of the Siege of Jerusalem.   During what: the First, Second or Third, Crusade?

Here’s a thought …
“I’ve got seven kids. The three words you hear most around my house are ‘hello’, ‘goodbye’, and ‘I’m pregnant’.”
Dean Martin, June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        You’d possibly find the YouTube embed code handy, in that case, Olga: assuming your blog supports it?   I think the petitions are like Youtube videos: hitting the share button, helps.   I’ve just shared this one, for example.   It’s a start, if nothing else.
I’ve also been heavily sharing the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels reviews.   Nathan Lane as Detective Michener?   Is an utter revelation!
I’m looking forward to the library re-opening, I know that.   Hopefully, they’ll let us in with some social distancing: Brentwood’s library’s quite large … and has a registry office, so they’d have to let folk in!

Q1) No (of course).
Q2) Italy
Q3) Driving Miss Daisy
Q4) The Cannonball Run (I don’t think I’ve ever watched that. Dean Martin was a favourite of my late father, both, acting and singing).
Q5) First Crusade
I hope you get the heating problem sorted. One would imagine they would protect such devices against power surges, but… If you’ve tried everything suggested in the manual (and of course, resetting it and switching it on and off) there is no other option than to get somebody in. Mind you, is it that cold? I never turned the heating in June. If it was cold, I just layered up. Once I turned the heating off for the summer, it would have to be snowing for me to turn it on, or close enough. Here it is raining today and the temperatures have gone down, but nothing drastic. It seems it will last a few days.
Good luck with the library tomorrow. And thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I do embed videos from YouTube every so often. It’s not difficult on Wordpress (mind you, I haven’t tried the new Gutenberg editor. It sounds like too much of a headache to me. It works with blocks, and Mailchimp has a similar configuration and I never liked it).
I hope Debby is fine. I can’t remember if she told us she was busy, but my brain is all over the place.
