28th December, 2024.
Your know …
I think we can say it’s foggy, out.
Which I have to admit, I like.
Fog can add a certain beauty to the world, I think: a certain amount of romance you don’t necessarily get with sunnier weather.
It’s beautiful, mysterious and adds a certain something.
OK, I know: it’s causing problems at the UK’s airports.
But it looks gorgeous … !

Just as a thought?
I’m hoping bluray drive fans reading this can make a buying suggestion.
Which of the two drives listed here would be a suitable replacement for a dead Pioneer drive.
I need it to work with MakeMKV with little in the way of issues, or fiddling around!
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five questions, shall we?
Q1) An aircraft registered as NC16002, disappeared on 28th December. Of which year of the 1940s?Q2) UK customs officials seized some £70 million worth of cocaine: on 28th December, 1993. Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“It’s true I don’t tolerate fools, but then they don’t tolerate me, so I am spiky. Maybe that’s why I’m quite good at playing spiky elderly ladies.”Dame Maggie Smith, 28 December 1934 – 27 September 2024.
And a song …
The next large question set is on the 31st of December.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* It’s possible, Olga. From what I can recall, the US were experimenting with pigeon-guided missiles during WW2. Apparently, they gave up on it, as electronic guides were found to be more reliable.
From what I can gather from the news, though … ? Is that there were reports of banging noises from outside the plane, before it crashed. And one Azerbaijani minister has gone on the record blaming ‘outside interference’ for the crash. And, apparently, Azerbaijan is demanding an international enquiry: rather than one bu Russian influenced bodies …
Most of those hubs look OK for the price, Olga. Although this one lets you connect a Thunderbolt port device. You’re be better off connecting it to a Thunderbolt port, rather than a USB C port. That way, it’ll be able to use Thunderbolt speed, when copying stuff. (It’ll work well with a USB port: it just won’t be as fast.)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ I always have mixed feelings about Earthshock, Debbi: as the first episode aired when I was at my grandfather’s funeral. Adric’s death was definitely sad … but I think, at the time, I was more worried about other things … !
I know what you mean, though. I still, for the life of me, can’t watch the video for “Those Were The Days of Our Lives,” Freddie’s last video performance with Queen. He know’s he’s not got long, he’s OK with it and he’s saying ‘Goodbye’. It’s … well … I’ll leave that there, shall I … ?
(I’m really going to have to show Jude how to use a razor!)

Q3) the Manhattan Project
Q4) the Chicago White Sox
Q5) The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Good point. I don't use many things at the moment, but I'll keep it in mind. You're right about the fog, although it can be quite eerie and dangerous, especially if you are alone outside or worse still, driving.
1 1948
2 Mafia
3 Manhatten project
4 Chicargo White Sox
5 The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Aww ... here I thought he looked rather ... grown up. :)
1. 1948
2. a Mexican drug cartel
3. the Manhattan Project
4. the Chicago White Sox
5. The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
Great movie! One of my favorite lines: "She thinks to intimidate me by the use of quarter hours?" :)
Here's the whole bit. Imagine it in her voice:
"Dear Miss Brodie, I hope it will be convenient for you to see me in my office this afternoon at 4:15. Emily Mackay." Four fifteen. Not four, not four thirty, but four fifteen. Hm. She thinks to intimidate me by the use of quarter hours?
Hilarious!
