5th December, 2024.
Right … I think we can say I’m expecting a delivery, today.
What do I mean, ‘think’?
I know I’ve got a delivery coming, today.
One that includes an airer.
I don’t know about you, but the ones I have, don’t have enough room for everything.
~≈🧺≈~
I’m on a drug called Mounjaro: one that helps keep my blood sugar levels down.
And, as a side effect, helps me lose, and keep, my weight down.
Which is nice!
I notice, though, that the BBC’s all over the stuff.
Telling us the Government’s approved its use by the National Health Service, specifically for weight loss.
Along side diet and exercise.
That’s generally a good thing, I think.
But I also note the report tells us this is supposed to be rolled out over some twelve years: in order to try and manage demand.
I can only hope that works.
I can remember how excess demand caused a shortage of Ozempic: and a shift to other medications, one I felt weren’t as effective.
Here’s hoping.
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) “Party Political Broadcast” aired on 5th December, 1974. It was the last episode of which British comedy show?Q2) Footballer, Jimmy Dimmock, was born on 5th December, 1900. He made four hundred appearances for which team: Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United or Everton?Q3) 5th December is the UN sponsored what: World Water Day, World Soil Day or World Desert Day?Q4) 5th December is the UN sponsored International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development. It’s also known as International what Day.Q5) Finally … ? 5th December is the feast day of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified. He’s usually depicted, holding a what: apple, banana or orange?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 4th December is Navy Day. Where: Brazil, Russia, India or China?A1) India.Q2) Kevin Sussman was born on 4th December, 1970. He plays which character, in The Big Bang Theory?Q3) Terry Anderson was freed from captivity: on 4th December, 1991. He’d been held hostage, where: Syria, Lebanon or Gaza?A3) Lebanon.Q4) Tony Todd was born on 4th December, 1954. He plays which supernatural killer: Michael Myers, Candyman or Freddy Kruger?A4) Candyman. (It’s possibly the best match of an actor to a character that I know of. Much of the character’s background for the original film was created by Todd, himself.)Q5) Finally … ? Boss Tweed escaped from prison, on 4th December, 1875. He was an infamously corrupt politician from where: Chicago, Los Angeles or New York?
Here’s a thought …
“In America sex is preached, in France it is done.”Fritz Lang, December 5, 1890 – August 2, 1976.
And a song …
The next ten question sets are on the 8th and 9th of December.
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Hello, Mum!
† Yeah … there’s always one iffy politician, Olga. (The current UK government’s already had a minister resign: over a fraud charge. She reported a phone lost, when it wasn’t. She wasn’t quite as bad as Boss Tweed, but it does look embarrassing for the PM.)
Yeah, the Eton uniform’s posher than most: it’s … um … well … I’m lost for words! But I don’t think my school could’ve got away with it!
‡ Well, that’s a bit of good news, Debbi: it sound’s like the treatment’s helping. (I’ve already mentioned: but the next two are on the 8th and 9th of the month. I’ve also modified my template, so I can advertise them ahead of time.)
§ The current version of Pages — Pages 14.x, on macOS Ventura or later — lets you press CMD (⌘) whilst holding down the mouse button: so you can select non-contiguous text, text that’s separate from other text.
That’s a handy feature, I think: and one I’d like to see in Safari.

Here at the moment half of the politicians and relatives of the president are being investigated (his wife, his brother, one of his ex-ministers, an adviser of said minister...). Oh, the funnies thing about is that the judge (there are different judges dealing with the different cases) investigating the case against his wife (she was teaching a masters at a well-known university from Madrid, la Complutense, and it seems part of the research involved an App, and there is some 'confusion' as to the ownership of the said App, as she registered it under her name, but it appears that it belonged to the university. Apart from that, it seems that she got that teaching job although her qualifications weren't up to the standards of other lecturers...) Well, that judge had asked to see her bank accounts, and the list included 11 bank accounts her name appeared it, but she only had a grand total of €40,15 (40 euros in one and 15 cents in another). They are saying the list is "incomplete". You think?
Oh, and good luck with the delivery. I saw an ad for an airer that looked pretty good, but as it was one of those buying channels adverts, I doubt it is as good as they say.
