It’s official: I’ve just finished chapter three.

Of my book at bedtime, as you ask.

Right at the moment, I’m reading is Ursula LeGuin’s The Lathe of Heaven.

I have to admit to falling in love with her prose, a couple of years ago: having re-read A Wizard of Earthsea.

The Lathe of Heaven’s a fascinating read, I should add: about a man called George, whose dreams turn into reality.

It’s … well, I hate to repeat a word, but ‘fascinating’ seems to sum it up well.

A1)        Easter.

Q2)        The day marks Jesus’ what: birth or death?

A2)        Death.

Q3)        In the UK, you’re supposed to eat what: fish, hot cross buns or pancakes?

A3)        Hot cross buns. The cross represents the crucifixion: the spices used in it are supposed to represent the spices used to embalm Jesus.   (Fish is traditional on a Friday: but hot cross bun are traditional on Good Friday.)

Q4)        True or false: In the UK, Good Friday is a bank holiday?

A4)        True. (It’s a public holiday, in other words.)

Q5)        Finally … ? 2014 saw the UK’s first Good Friday what: American Football, horse racing or snooker?

A5)        Horse racing.

*        I know what you mean, Olga: but any chance of getting out is a good thing!   I know we’re easing up, in the UK.   It still doesn’t mean I can have friends over: as I’ve no back garden.

†        What always gets me, Trevor, is the amount of smaller leagues there are.   It seems a shame the UK has no equivalent term to ‘little league,’ or ‘minor league.’   Strikes me the US have handy phrases.
