Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-11-2016

Spin offs …

Spin offs, spin-offs spins … !

You have to wonder about the amount of them, don’t you … ?

I mean … the Marvel movies are all over the place.

DC are trying to do the same thing with their franchise.

Star Wars has been going since the late 1970s: and looks like it’s growing more legs, when Rogue One is released.

Saying that … ?   Saying that, Star Wars ALSO saw the Star Wars Holiday Special released: a couple of years after the first film.

I wouldn’t mind seeing that.   JUST to see if it really is as bad as its reputation says it is.

By all accounts?

Marvin, I Love You, as cheesy* as that was?   Has a better reputation …

Let’s move on …

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Angel‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Prince Charles was born: on 14th November, 1948.   As heir to the UK throne, he’s Prince of where?
Q2) He’s also Duke of where: Rothesay or Cornwall?
Q3) In a similar vein … Which member of the Royal Family got married: on 14th November, 1973?
Q4) 14th November, 1930, saw the birth of professional English wrestler, Shirley Crabtree, Jr.   How was he better known?
Q5) Moby Dick was first published: on 14th November, 1851.   Who’s the narrator of the story?
Q6) Finally … The Mariner 9 probe went into orbit around its target planet: on 14th November, 1971.  Which planet?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) A series of co-ordinated terror attacks took place: on 13th November, 2015.   In which French city?
A1) Paris.
Q2) Hans Adam 2nd became Prince, on the death of his father: on 13th November, 1989.  Prince of where?
Q3) Fantasia was released: on 13th November, 1940.   By which studio?
A3) Disney.
Q4) The volcano, Nevado del Ruiz, erupted: on 13th November, 1985.   The volcano is in which (mostly) South American country?
A4) Colombia.   (The country has territory in Central America, as well.)
Q5) Finally … Charles Simeon is commemorated on the 13th November.   By whom: the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Church of England or the Church in Wales?
A5) The Church of England.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“A childhood without books – that would be no childhood. That would be like being shut out from the enchanted place where you can go and find the rarest kind of joy.”
Astrid Lindgren, 14 November 1907 – 28 January 2002.
And this one …

Enjoy your day.

*        Saying that?   I happen to like Marvin, I Love You.   Cheesy, yes: but it’s also a good tune you can sing along to.

†        I’ll have to have a sit down with that, Olga: I can bookmark it on the tablet.   At ANY rate … ?   I’m just thankful the UK doesn’t insist on conscription, these days.   I think we’d find it difficult to justify.   (And anything I can do … )

‡        Good luck with the investigation results, Angel: hopefully, President Obama will be able to come up with something, in the time he’s got left!   (The Electoral College question, though?   That sounds like it’s going to be as tough to shift as the gun lobby … )

^        I’m thinking the Amazon DVD will be the better bet, Debbi: I can rip it, sell the media on, and watch the films, later.   (I actually sold my DVD player, a while ago.   I hadn’t actually used the thing for half a decade.   Frankly?   I get more use out of the Apple TV … )

There isn't conscription in Spain either now, but of course, when Franco was in power he was a military man...
As in the case with book once you get people interested it's easier (to a certain degree) building up on the story and characters you already know than start completely afresh and you're guaranteed the public already (although most of them eventually run themselves into the ground or run out of ideas..)
