Certainly, it has for today’s Introduction video: I’ve officially had issues with copyright!

It’s also looking like it’s going to be hot, and muggy!

It’s officially official: Brentwood’s going through a warm patch.

So a long sleeved shirt could be a good idea.

And … ?

It’s the last weekend before payday, on Monday.

I’m looking forward to that.

Getting the bills out of the way would be nice … !

OK, I’ve got the radio in: listening to Radio Four’s Today programme.

They’re doing a piece on the newly released 28 Years Later.

It’s something I’m looking forward to seeing, as a fan of the 28 Days franchise.

The piece on the Today programme?

Told me this: that the film had been film on iPhones, drones, and extremely portable action cams.

I’m impressed.

Oh, I knew it could be done: there’s plenty of short, professional, video done with the kit.

But it’s the first time I’ve heard of a feature length movie being shot on these devices.

Kudos to the production team that pulled that off!

It’s D-Day, today.

Or, at least, Crunch Day.

The day the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill goes before the House of Commons for another round of voting.

If it’s passed?

It goes to the House of Lords.

If not?

It fails at the last fence.

We’ll have to see how that vote goes …

Oh, in the UK … ?

It’s election time!

And one piece of news?

Shows me that at least two Conservative Party members — one a candidate, and one, a worker for the Prime Minister — have been caught with their pants downs.

Or — like a member of the PM’s bodyguard squad — caught putting bets on when the election would be: days before the PM announced it.

There’s possibly a lot I could say, or do.

Instead … ?

I’m just going to point at the PM, and laugh!

Right … I’ve possibly not mentioned it in the intro video … 

But it’s officially raining in Brentwood.

Which is a bit of a relief, after a weeks worth of heatwave!

But that’s possibly beside the point!

As you may know?

I’m on benefits: and usually have to have have a meeting with Job centre staff, every two weeks.

That’s got changed: after I was found to have a ‘Limited Capacity for Work’.

And had been due to have a meeting — a now three monthly meeting — on the 29th June.

Except it got cancelled on me.

I was due a Gas Safety check, yesterday: so, after that and my weight management class, yesterday?

I popped into the Job Centre, to see what was happening.

According to the staff, there?

It’s going to be rearranged: and turned into a series of phone meetings!

I wish they’d mentioned that, when they cancelled it!

After managing to finish reviewing a film I saw on Friday.

I have to say, In Fabric’s a very good film to watch.

But, lord!   Finishing a video review, that late … ?

I’m not getting any younger, let’s put it like that.

Yes: I’m officially off to the job centre, this morning: feeling a touch … 

Thoughtful, let’s put it that way.

After all, the most recent inter I had — the one I turned up late to — arranged a second interview for the 26th … 

And then, a few days ago, cancelled.

Admittedly, cancelled: with the promise they’d be in touch with a new date.

I’m sceptical: I’ve heard that a few times.

At ANY rate … ?

I’d need to discuss the fare money that the Job Centre lent me.

With the amount of money coming in, this month?

I need to find out if — and how much — I need to repay.

Yes, I’m back at work, today.

And frankly?

I’m thinking I’ve got an extended run: from today until next week.

With no actual day off until next week.

Frankly.

It’s money: so I can’t complain much.

But, BOY, I’ll be looking forward to time off.

Something I noticed on the Tech news, yesterday … ?

Was that UK education is having a specific issue.

Recently, the UK’s various education authorities has toughened computer science classes: making them harder to do.

And less appealing to kids.

One reason for the UK’s tech sector doing so well?   Is simply that kids get interested as youngsters.

They certainly did, when I was young.

Most of the coders and IT people my age?   All grew up, as I did, working out how to make a ZX Spectrum — or BBC Micro, or Oric, what have you — go beeeeeeep*^ when you pushed a button.

At ANY rate … I think making the classes harder will be a bad thing, long term.

There’s something else.

I know — as an adult — I did what’s called the European Computer Driving License: a computer literacy course.

I knew most of it.

But wanted the paperwork that said I’d done it … to reassure potential employers that I could sit in an office, use a computer, and not melt down, working out how to switch the thing on.

And have the impression that, until recently, that’s what ‘computer science’ classes focused on.   Making sure people had a basic level of computer literacy: enough to be able to function in today’s modern society.

I think these days?

Using a computer — a tablet, laptop, phone, till, what have you — is on a par with reading and writing, or driving.

A basic skill that makes life a lot easier.

Frankly, these days?

I think compulsory computer literacy glasses would be good.

Leaving the tougher science classes for later.

You know, there’s a lot of stuff that’s easy to do.

Really.

Painting walls.   Building huge, well designed, buildings.   Running marathons.

Doing them well, on the other hand?

Is a whole other matter.

One thing that’s easy to do — as I know from work — is typing errors.

Which I suspect might have something to do with one piece of news I saw, yesterday.

It’s seems a marketing firm working for the US Republican party has given access to 200 million people’s details: leaving it easily accessible on a public cloud server.

Those details?   Could easily be used to commit all sorts of cyber-crime.

For starters, you’ve a whole pile of names, addresses and phone numbers: complete with details on the person’s opinions, and preferences.

I’d imagine whoever’s gained access to that?   Will be wallowing in criminal opportunities.

I’m not sure for certain: but I’d imagine that sort of information is going to generate a lot of personalised phising emails!

According to the news?

The firm that held the data made a mistake with the accessibility settings: which meant anyone with the link could get to it.

Anyone.

But say they have since modified those settings.

I’m betting the reason the settings were the way they were?

Is because someone’s made a simple mistake: as simple, say, as accidentally picking the wrong item from a drop down menu.

It’s that simple, that easy … 

To cause a lot of issues …

Did I tell you today is the Summer Solstice?

I didn’t?

Today — in the Northern hemisphere — marks the Summer Solstice: the longest day of the year, and, according to those in the know, the start of meteorological summer.

There’s a problem with that.

I’ve looked out of my window.

Given it’s flaming’ June?

• It’s gruesome.
• I’ve got my heating on!
