Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2024 — Starman

9th October, 2024.

Yes: it’s official.

I have COVID!

I mentioned, yesterday, that I was feeling rough: and felt I had a cold.

I had a few COVID tests left: so thought using one to check would a good idea.

I got the dreaded two red lines: that meant a positive result.

Which was awkward: I had an opticians appointment, yesterday, and could have gone to a non-compulsive thing for the job centre.

Those … definitely went out of the window.

And?

Irony of irony?

I’m supposed to be having my COVID shots, next week.

Heigh-ho!

In other news … ?

I was contacted by the Department of Work and Pensions, yesterday.

I’m assuming it’s about my Personal Independence Payment.

They wanted me to re-upload my bank statements, and photo IDs: as they weren’t happy with the originals I sent them, last week.

They’ve now arranged for a phone meeting with me, for this coming Monday.

A meeting with a member of something called the Claim Review Team.

I wish they’d contacted me, sooner, about the uploads.

The delays are frustrating!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2023 — World Post Day

9th October, 2023: World Post Day.

Once again … ?

Monday has rolled around: with the inevitability of an oncoming Monday.

Which … is possibly obvious … !

At any, it’s Monday: and I’ll be off to my weight management programme, later.

Hopefully?

I’ll’ve lost something!

Apart from my mind, wits and sense!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th October, 2022.

9th October, 2022.

Yes: it’s officially Sunday.

And, frankly?

I’m expecting it to be quiet.

Here’s hoping!

At any rate … ?

I’ve finish my written and video reviews of Hellraiser.

And I’ll tell you what: the box looks amazing …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2021: Abraham

9th October, 2021.

Yes: it’s officially official.   SO official that I’m officially announcing it’s official.

Yes: I have to stay indoors.

I’ve got an engineer due to do my gas safety check.

Oh, and my GP’s due to phone: for a medication review.

Granted, I’ve got a knee strengthening set if exercises to do.

But, lord, it would be nice to be able to go for a walk … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2020: The Khmer Republic

9th October, 2020.

Right …

I’m feeling vaguely used: as I’m being visited, today, by the ONS.

They’re doing yet another Covid-related swab and blood test.

Which means another £25 Amazon voucher as a thank you.

Christmas is coming: and that’ll be handy.

~≈🤪≈~

At any rate … ?

I don’t know if I mentioned it: but a man was arrested on my street, on Sunday night: after trying to kick down the main door of Tomlinson House, a door or two up the road.

Up until then?

We’d been having issues.

Mostly noise issues.

Frankly?

I’m starting to wonder if the arrested partly was the one causing most of the issues.

It’s been nice and quiet, ever since …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th October 2019.

9th October, 2019.

Right …

I’ve lost my job.

I’ve lost my job.

Or, at least?

Haven’t successfully completed my probation period.

Hmmm …

I grant, there’s a lot I could be doing better, there: being slightly faster on the till, and opening my gob a bit less, would.

But … ?

Remember the interview I had where my adoption papers were at issue?

That was this job: for the branch of McColl’s in Warley.

There were one or two impressions I picked up.

One or two … personal opinions, that had me questioning my decision to start the job in the first place.

And something else.

Why was it that I was given the heave-ho by the area manager … when it should have been the store manager’s job?

~≈≈~

At any rate … ?

One nice bit of news?

Is that I’ve been job hunting, while at the shop: we’ll have to see if that pays off.

That fact I can now claim help for fares to interviews*?

Is a good thing.

It’ll help.

But, I have managed to do some busy work: and managed to upgrade to macOS Catalina.

Which seems to have gone well.

The only downside is that dragging and dropping links to the Desktop seems to work differently.

But?

The shift from the iTunes app, to the new Music, TV and Podcast apps has gone without hiccups.

The dynamic wallpaper is pin sharp.

And, if I had the money?

Apple Arcade would be very tempting …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2018: World Post Day

9th October, 2018.

Yes: I’m off, again, today.

And, as relaxing as that can be?

It’s not necessarily something I want.

Given the shifts, at the moment?

It’s unpaid holiday.

Yes, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for other employment.

But …

Well … it’s frustrating.

~≈§≈~

Right now … ?

I’m looking at a news piece on the BBC’s website: that Google are to cancel their Google+ social network.

After a data breach affected it.

Apparently?

Some 500, 00 people had private data exposed.

It’s be a shame to see it go.

It’s a handy way of advertising the blog.

On the other hand … ?

Google’s just dropped the ball.

Even further than you’d think.

It seems they knew about it since March …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-10-2016

Oh, for God’s SAKE!

If it’s not one thing, it’s another!

I’m between jobs, at the moment: and due to start work on Monday.

I’m also claiming help from the relevant government: I’m claiming a benefit called ‘Universal Credit’.

Part of that … ?   Replaces an older benefit: that’s supposed to help me pay my rent.   The older benefit was administered by the local council, and went to straight to my landlord.

The newer one?   Is supposed to come straight to me, then get passed on.

And hasn’t, technically, started yet: as the Job Centre’s in the process of passing the various evidence I’ve given them on.

They had it, what … ?   Tuesday?   Wednesday?   The middle of the week, at any rate.

Yesterday?   I get a polite letter from the Department of Work and Pensions, the government department that handles these things.   (Dated 5th October: Wednesday, in other words)

Telling me I’d given them ‘Insufficient Evidence’ of my rent: that they’ve written to my landlord, and wanted me to discuss it with them!

This is, I should add, despite my given them my tenancy agreement, and a rent statement.

Before I go to work, tomorrow?

I’m going to have to get on the phone.

In all honesty, though?

What on EARTH do these departments WANT … ?
