Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th January 2026

19th January, 2026.

Sodding X … !

It’s very frustrating … !

I’ve had my posts limited: as, apparently, I’m posting potential spam.

The frustrating thing … ?

Is that the automated Customer Help chat bot?

Is exactly that: automated, very repetitive … and can’t give me a time it’ll be finished.

Oh, and tells me I have to sign up for Premium, to talk to someone human about it.

What does Elon Musk want?   Apart from blood?

~≈Ç≈~

About the only upside to this … ?

Is that I saw a silly post on the service.

This one:

So?

I tried it, myself, and got this picture:

I don’t for sure: but isn’t that a pregnancy test?

Quite what’s happening, there, I don’t know!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2025 — Who the Hell is Edgar?

19th January, 2025: Who the Hell is Edgar?

Yes, you’re right!

I am quoting a Eurovision song in the introductory video.

The one today’s teaser takes its title from.

It seem vaguely relevant: although I suspect it would’ve got ma a copyright strike on YouTube!

~≈🐦‍⬛≈~

Oh … whilst we’re on the subject of Edgar … ?

I put an image of him through Apple’s Image Playground app.

Which makes him look vaguely like Kurt Vonnegut.

So it goes …

~≈🐦‍⬛≈~

There’s supposed to be a ceasefire in Israel.

Supposed to be a ceasefire …

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ckg0znng8x2t

But, functionally … ?   With Israel blaming Hamas, and bombing Gaza, despite its Cabinet approval of the thing?

Is it any wonder I laugh, when I hear the word, ‘ceasefire’?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th January 2024.

19th January. 2024.

OK … it’s now no longer Thursday: but Friday!

And yes: that means I’ve had the weekly dose of one diabetes medication.

Remind me to order another box of that one: I’ve got one left … !

~≈Ω≈~

OK, off on a different note … ?

The BBC’s news site tells us that a trial has taken place in twenty-one pubs* in the UK: experimenting with selling wine in smaller glasses.

Apparently?

Removing the large, 250ml glass from the menu helped reduce drinking by some 7.6%.

Which sounds good.

But?

I can remember when the 250ml glasses were introduced.

I feel old … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2023 — Janis.

19th January, 2023: Janis.

Right … I’ve officially got a repairman coming, this afternoon.

To refit my thermostat.

Hopefully?

He’ll turn up with ID, this time!

~≈†≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve been complaining about money: including the £150 Warm Home Discount.

And how I’ve had to waiting for this month’s Cost of Living Voucher.

That?   Finally turned up, yesterday: and got added to my meter.

Thank heavens for that.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th January, 2022

19th January, 2022.

Yep: finally!

I have an appointment with the dental hygienist, today … !

Gosh, the excitement … !

Still: it’s get ehe job done.

~≈Ë≈~

I have to admit to feeling a little sad: as Jude, my nephew, has decided to take his first video down.

He thought he sounded a little too dull.

That hurt a little: we put a bit of effort in, there!

However?

He’s decided that — when he’s over, tomorrow — he’s going to re-record and re-upload it.

I’ll let you know when he does.

Keeping up with eleven year olds is exhausting!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2021: Dolly

19th January, 2021.

Right … things occur … on a regular basis.

Frankly?

I had an COVID-19 swab test, done a couple of weeks ago: courtesy of the Office for National Statistics.

They’re doing it to monitor the condition’s spread: and say ‘thank you’ by giving you a twenty-five pound Amazon voucher.

The last one I got … ?

Let me buy a big tub of Marmite.

And, my word, I’m enjoying that on toast!

~≈🥖≈~

You’ve possibly realised I’m jobhunting: and have been for a couple of years, now.

Lord knows what I’m doing wrong, but I’ve found nothing: yet.

Since last April, though?   Since April, 2020, I, like all of us on Universal Credit, have received an extra twenty pounds as week: to help cope with the COVID-19 crisis.

It’s due to end on the 31st March: despite the fact those of us getting it really need the uplift to be extended.

Or made permanent.

So, yesterday?   On what’s called an Opposition Day, the House of Commons had a non-binding vote on the uplift.

As a result of the Government whips insisting that Tory MPs abstain?

The Government lost the vote.

By 278 votes.

OK, it’s non-binding.

But with six Conservative MPs voting against it, despite instructions to abstain?

That’s — hopefully — dropping a hint.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2020: Timkat

19th January, 2020.

Yep: it’s officially Sunday, and I suspect that it’ll be a quiet one.

Bar having dinner with my family, that is.

Oh …

And watching Doctor Who, tonight.

I have to say, I’m enjoying it, thus far: although I did have my reservations about last week’s episode.

Either way … ?

It’s doing my YouTube viewership a favour.

That review for Orphan 55?

Has fifty-seven viewers.

Which is good … for me!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th January, 2019.

19th January, 2019.

Why … why … oh why … do I have early morning earworms?

I really couldn’t tell you …

But as soon as I mention, think, speak, type, or breathe gently on, the word video?

Up pops the Franco-Canadian one hit wonders, Trans-X …

It is still the case, I think … that the backing singer looks bored out of her hair do!

~≈§≈~

Just as a quick thought … ?

I notice that the German Interior ministry — its equivalent to the Home Office — has announced it’s to review various contractor requirements: requirements that would make sure Huawei would not be involved in building Germany’s telecom’s infrastructure.

All to the good: and it follows one from various other countries and companies.

But … ?

My concern is near enough what I’ve always thought.

We’re concerned about Huawei spying on us.

Are we concerned enough about Microsoft, Apple, Google … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19th January, 2018.

*Yawns* …

Frankly?

There’s a reason for that … !

Yes: I’m off to work, early, today.

Frankly?

I think I’m regretting it, already.

Frankly … ?

I want to go back to bed …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2017

Hmmm …

That’s … sad …

I’ve found out my Uncle Ray died, yesterday …

I’m …

Well, I’m not grieving, per se.

Which will sound strange, I know.

But I never actually got to know Uncle Ray as well as I could: I was never especially close to his end of the family.

I think that’s the loss I’m feeling.

Not so much the loss of a family member.

But the loss of a family member I never had the chance to know better.

The Daily Teaser — 19-1-2016

Well, that was fun.

Did I mention last night was the official staff Christmas do, last night?

We had the official staff do, last night.

At a bowling alley in Romford: ironically, next to Kidspace, one of my nephew’s favourite places.

I think I did rather well for myself.   I’m blowed if I can remember my score for the first game, but did manage 108 on the second.   I think switching to heavier balls — and occasionally using my off-hand — helped.

I’m pleased with that score.

And with the evening, overall.

I think we can safely say everyone had a good night.

Contagion: Harum, Scarum, and meaningfully art-house bacteria …

19th January, 2012.

Well …

THAT’S a thing … !

Well …

Actually, it’s possibly several things, including things that actually AREN’T things.

Which is possibly a phrase designed to give a philosopher a headache, I know that …

Let’s get moving on to what I WANT to talk about, shall … ?

»»·««

Yes, let’s … !

Now, I’ve got to admit I’ve had a quiet patch or two, recently, what with one thing and another.

But … ?

Well, the local library being as good as it is with film rentals, you DO get a hankering for something a touch different.

I do, certainly.

Especially after having seen the VERY entertaining Reign of Fire, the other night: I fancied something a touch slower paced, and managed to bag the 2011, Steven Soderbergh film, Contagion.

And, yes, before you ask: Contagion and Reign of Fire are as different as chalk and cheese*.
