OK … BT are contradictory,  they really are … !

On Thursday, just gone, I thought I had no issues: as, seemingly, BT’s records had been corrected, my requested upgrade had gone through, and an engineer’s visit, booked.

Until I got a phone call, yesterday.

To tell me the order had been cancelled … as the change in address hadn’t gone through!

They’re supposed to be phoning back today: as the changes should have gone through.

And, presumably?

They’d know their arse from their elbows … !

I had the police visit, yesterday: doing what’s called a welfare check.

In other words, visiting me, to make sure I was in good health, was upright, breathing and uninjured.

One of my neighbours is … difficult … to deal with: as they have some form of mental illness that makes them verbally aggressive.

Indeed, they had confronted me, last week: telling me — from across the street, mind! — not to put my glasses on, going past their window.

Something I’d reported to my landlords, I should add.

From what the police officer told me … ?

A third party agency — my landlords, from what I was told — had contacted the problem neighbour … who threatened to stab me, and one other neighbour.

At least one other neighbour!

Hence the welfare check.

As a result?

I’ve been advised to be careful around the neighbour: something I’ve been doing, anyway.

And … ?

I’ve been in touch with my landlords, to let them know what’s happening.

And?

I’d also suggested to the police officer that recommending the neighbour be moved would be appreciated.

I’m not scared, I’m not nervous … but … ?

I’d rather the problem neighbour didn’t live next door …

Hmmm … 

It’s not often I wake up on a Friday, and find out there’s bombs dropping.

Thankfully!

Except, this morning … ?

I’ve woken up to find Israel is bombing Iran.

In order, the Israelis have said, to prevent Iran building a nuclear bomb.

I’m … 

I’m very aware that the US has pulled staff out of Iran, and wonder this:

• How much did the US president know in advance about this?
• Has he given his endorsement to Israel’s actions?
• How is Iran going to respond?

And, as I write?

Drones are going off in Jordan: on the borders of Iran, from what I’ve understood.

Things look hairy, right now.

Right … it’s Thursday!

Which, frankly, means I’m going to have to pick up medication, at some point!

Assuming the pharmacist has them.

I’m going to surprise people: and tell you I’ve made up my mind about who to vote for in next month’s General Election.

The Greens.

They’ve finally released their manifesto, this year.

And … ?

Are promising to increase Universal Credit by some forty pounds a week.

Granted, given the way elections in the UK go, it’s unaffordable, unrealistic and never going to happen.

But?

They’ve put money, albeit theoretical money, on the table: that tells me what they want to do for people in my shoes.

That’s not something I’ve seen in the Conservative or Liberal Democrat manifestos.

Nor expect to see in Labour’s, when they publish theirs.

It’s … 

Well … let’s just say politics can be unsurprising …

I’m up early: for the second day in a row!

I’ve a hospital appointment in Basildon, today: to discuss my ever-so-functional left leg.

I’m also jobhunting: you’d possibly guessed.

So I’m used to getting messages about potential jobs.

I got one, last night: from someone calling themselves Grace, claiming to be from Morgan Hunt, and from a +63 area code.

At just gone 8pm.

Morgan Hunt are legit: and have offices all over the UK.

But — after a brief conversation? — I decided to block the number, and delete the chat.

A WhatsApp message, at that time of night?

From what turned out to be a Filipino phone number?

It just seemed a bit suspicious …

Right, I’ve a confession to make.

When I recorded that intro video, and started writing this post … ?

I had no idea what I was going to watch.

I had a couple of films in mind: but settled on nothing.

Until I looked over what I had in my collection.

You can possibly tell what I went for, can’t you?

Yes: I watched Spider-Man: No Way Home.

I’ve seen a very impressive film.

I’m going to tell you more, tomorrow night.

It’s a Monday … and the start of a whole shiny new week.

He says, with a certain amount of cynicism.

It’s a Monday where I’m expecting a couple of phone calls.

One from my Restart case worker: which reminds me, I need to email her as well.

The other call?   Is from the people handling my Work Capacity appeal.

Hopefully, they’ll be quick!

I’ve got to admit: it’s looking nice out, at the moment.

Did I mention I’ve had a phone call?   From local reporter, Piers Meyler?

He’s working on updates to the stories about the phone mast that went down, last year.

Hopefully … ?

He’ll be able to do something with what I’ve told him.

I do know I’ve emailed him about the rough sleeper I had on my doorstep.

I’ve been chatting with the neighbours: at least two of whom have no front door keys, and are finding it hard to get knew ones from Clarion.

Are using credit cards to do the same thing.

Despite the the security bar that’s supposed to stop it.

I think there’s a possible story in it.

Whether Piers will … ?   I don’t know.

After … 

Well, after civil war broke out: over J. K Rowling’s recent comments on transgendered people.

There’s possibly a lot to say about that article.

It’s a very well though out one.   Not necessarily one I agree with, nor one where Ms Rowling’s cites her figures: but well argued, well written and intelligently made.

Let me emphasises that sentence, there: not necessarily one I agree with*.

Before anyone starts!

But, lord … it’s caused a huge row on this one Facebook Group: that got the administrators suspending it.

I’m told it’s temporary … I hope it’s temporary … 

But it’s something to see.

Right … 

It’s officially true: I can sleep through a bomb going off.

Well, ok, maybe not: that’s me doing some … you know … exaggeration … 

I actually had enough cash, yesterday, to get a bus up to town: which is when a neighbour — Wally, bless him, taking the same bus — told me about the drug raid that had taken place.

A little bit close to home.

In the building next to mine.

I took that with a pinch of salt.

Let’s say I’m a sceptic, shall we?

Then I got home, and had a chance to look both at the local news, and the BBC’s teletext service.

Which I immediately cross referenced with the BBC’s news site.

Yep.   There’d been a raid.   In the building next door.

I think I know one or two of the eight arrested parties.   At least to say ‘Hello’ to.   Which is worrying … 

… 

Drug raids: we’ve had a few, over the years.

I’m personally, thankful it’s not another murder …

Oh, just as a quick thought … ?

Before I go anywhere else?

I’ve been doing a little bed-time reading, over the past few weeks: and finished Ward Moore’s Bring the Jubilee.

It’s a fascinating read: with a twisty ending when the main character realises exactly who’s been killed in the key chapter.

About my only complaint?   Was that the edition I read really could’ve been proof-read, correctly.

There was a serious lack of apostrophes* …

You know … it’s not that often I tell you I want to go to bed.

You’ve possibly noticed.

But?

I’d like to get to bed, tonight.

Preferably before midnight.

But, on the other hand?

You’ve possibly worked out I like a TV show or two.   With current viewing favourites ranging from Dr Who, to House of Cards and Mr Robot … via Merlin and Stranger Things.

I’ve also got a old Model MacPro: one has three extra internal hards drives, storing a collection of movies and TV box sets I own … but haven’t necessarily watched, yet.

On the only night off, I’ve had this week?   Decided I should watch one of the box sets I’ve had sitting around for a while.

The anthology horror drama that is … American Horror Story.

And, despite the opening episode ALMOST putting me off?

I think I’ve just seen something interesting …

OK, I’ve realised something … 

Right here and now, I’ve realised that today’s song — This Year’s Love, by David Gray — seems very appropriate.

OK, I may not be this year’s love: unless you’ve got very strange taste in men!

But the penniless, “I’ve left a tenner in the cash machine,” saga continues.

Because?

Well, I went to the high street, yesterday: to at least try and reclaim the now lost tenner.

That’s not a problem: that’s now officially been refunded.

But … ?

I checked my wallet on the way to the bank: to make sure I could hand over my details when I got to the bank.

Only to find I’d lost that, too.

What I’d done?

Once I’d realised I forgotten the tenner, on Sunday?

I went back to the cash machine to check my balance … and forgotten to take the card out, once I’d finished … !

I think I can safely say this … 

I’ve got a mild headache … !

I have to admit, I was at work, last night.

And … ?

Well, at roughly 9 o’clock, about half an hour before I was due to clock off.

And, yes: that’s about then the mild cramps started!

Which went and got worse: and only calmed down around twelvish: once I’d had a cocoa!

The net result, though … ?   Is that, this morning, I’ve something of a headache!   From, I suspect, tiredness.

Great: just what I wanted …
