It’s officially official: I’ve bought a book!

I’ve gone and bought a copy of OgronOOO’s Monster Book, by a chap called Martin Holmes.

It’s an Ogron-themed recreation of the 1970s era Dr Who Monster Book: and — having now read it! — I can tell you it’s fun, very authentic to its source … and has some loving pastiches: especially of the Third and Fourth Doctors.

About my only complaint?

Is nothing to do with Martin, the author, nor necessarily of Lulu.com, the self publishing company he used.

The original copy I bought, I bought back in mid-December: which was sent to me through Royal Mail.

That original copy?

Still hasn’t arrived.

There was nothing Martin could do, unfortunately: but Lulu sent me a complimentary, second, copy, via UPS.

Well-played Lulu: that copy got here yesterday.

And … ?

Was well worth the wait.

The OgronOOO’s Monster Book is fantastic: and shows you how much talent Martin has, and how much hard work he’s put in.

And is cheaper than the book it’s based on!

Go buy it!

It’s now, officially, 2019: and I’m dancing around my front room, in an over-excitable way.

It’s not an especially pretty site!

I’ve got the BBC’s Tech Tent Quiz of the Year, at the moment: fascinating listen, I should add.

It’s nice to know they … um … beat me to a question with yesterday’s Review of The Year quiz.

The one about the Spectre and Meltdown security holes.

Hopefully?

That’s a flaw that will get fixed: soon.

Personally?

I think we’ll see more flaws like them.

It’s a Sunday.   Which you’d possibly guessed!

And, of course, it’s a Sunday where I‘m working … 

Which you’ve possibly ALSO expect.

At some point, I’m going to have to book a weekend off.

Well, it’d be nice to sleep in on a Sunday.

At ANY rate … ?

I’ve the night off, tonight: which means I’ll be seeing my family for dinner.

Which means I’m going to have to ask one youngest sister for money: in order to get her laptop repaired.

I know people say Macs are expensive.

Which is a good point.

On the other hand?

Ruth’s spent £30* on a new battery, is going to spend another £90 — and lose three weeks use of a computer —and has already lost man-hours.

You do the math … !
