Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th October, 2025.

25th October, 2025.

Did I tell you I have a bad habit?

Yes: I have a bad habit of laughing, at inappropriate things.

But most of the time?

I don’t … !

Laugh inappropriately, that is.

Then … ?

There’s times I laugh hysterically at funny joke: or at the irony of something.

Then?

There’s time I laugh at the stupidly of a silly mistake.

And, yes: one has hit the news.

There’s an Ethiopian national, an asylum seeker, called Hadush Kebatu: who been housed in the Bell Hotel in Epping.

His arrest for two sexual assaults is what sparked the recent spate of protests.

He’d been jailed: and was supposed to be sent to an immigration detention centre, so he could be deported.

Except — and this is where I’ve been laughing — he was mistakenly released, yesterday: and is now said to be at large in London.

Yes: I’ve been laughing.

Because?

It’s an idiotic mistake to make.

And … ?

It’s laugh, or get angry at something I can do nothing about or start sobbing.

Frankly?   I think laughing is healthier …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th October, 2024

25th October, 2024.

Yay!

It’s officially official!

I now have a fully assembled sofa.

Complete with improvised antimacassars!

I think I’d’ve preferred something with higher arms.

But on the other hand … ?

I’ve got a sofa with a seat at a perfect height: that means I have my feet on the ground, when I sit down.

And had help from an old friend called Graham: who helped assemble the thing.

Thank you, Graham!

~≈🛋️≈~

Have you got a change pot?

A pot, or container, to keep your loose change in … ?

I have: I’ve had one for years.

There’s never much in mine: but it’s handy to have.

And something I check, every-so-often.

It covers the cost of a bus ride, if nothing else.

But … ?

It’s something I check, several times a week: sometimes, a couple of times a day.

It’s … I don’t know, soothing?

Enjoyable?

Compulsive?

I couldn’t tell you.

But it’s something I find reassuring, if nothing else.

~≈🪙≈~

Yes, before you ask … I’m a fan of Apple’s Mac computers.

You’ve possibly worked that out.

So you’re possibly aware that I keep an eye on things.

And so I’m very aware that — going by some reports — Apple’s planning a slew of press releases, next week: announcing new models of Mac.

Mac mini, in particular.

You can imaging how interested I am, can’t you … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-10-2023 — Northamptonshire Day

25th October, 2023: Northamptonshire Day.

Right …

I’ve got to admit to having woken up with an earworm: a song, playing through my head.

This morning?

I woke up with Wet Leg’s “Oh, No” banging through my head.

Obviously, they couldn’t find the heads for their Womble costumes.

At ANY rate … ?

The only way I could get it out of my head?

Was playing a Vengaboys song …

The fact they aren’t dressed up as Wombles is a good thing …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th October, 2022.

25th October, 2022.

Yes: it’s Tuesday.

And yes: the UK’s got another new Prime Minister.

Britain’s got it’s first British Asian PM, in the shape of Rishi Sunak.

The King will be swearing him in, this afternoon.

I’m caught.

I couldn’t vote for his party with him at the helm: he’s leading the Tories, and I’ve never voted for them.

I don’t intend to start, now.

But … ?

Congratulations, Rishi: that’s one hell of a Diwali present.

(Apparently, he’s a Star Wars fan.)

Oh, JUST so you know?

I’ve finished my written and video reviews of The Power of the Doctor.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-10-2021: I Watched Picasso …

25th October, 2021.

Hmmm …

OK …

Granted, there may copyright issues with very amateur attempts at Adam Ant songs …

But … ?   Today’s tune’s been ear worming its way through my head, ever since I wrote today’s set!

Argh!

~≈♩≈~

I’m assuming you’ve not heard the news?

That eight people have been arrested after two teenagers were killed, early on Sunday morning.

Near enough ten minutes walk from my front door, and about five minutes walk from Brentwood High Street.

Am I surprised?   Shocked?   Angered?   Thinking my town is getting worse?

No.

My thoughts are with the two teens who were killed.

Am I shocked about this?

No.

Not since someone was killed just around the corner from my flat in 2017: near the high street, in 2014?

One murder’s a tragedy.

Two?   Three … ?

Is bad … but not shocking.

These days?

It’s chip wrapping …

Dr Who — Season 5 Serial 6: Fury from the Deep — Episode 3 and 4 — A Review

25th October, 2020.

Yes: it’s officially the case …

It’s a quiet Sunday night.

One that’s seen me have dinner with my family: we’re a social bubble, if I’ve understood the rules correctly.

And play Among Us with my nephew.

Frankly, I’m happier with Tetris!

But there you go.

At any rate … ?

At any rate, I’ve got home, tonight.

With plenty of time to spare.

Time that meant I could watch episode three and four of Fury from the Deep.

~≈😶≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 15-10-2020: Agincourt

25th October, 2020.

Right …

I’m off for dinner with my family, this afternoon.

Which is good: it means I’ll be able to take a CD I burnt, over.

A copy of Marley’s Exodus, just in case you’re asking.

I’ll be honest, and admit I don’t know that much about reggae: but the impression I’ve picked up … ?

Is that Exodus is one of the albums.

~≈😀≈~

Did I mention I saw the first two episodes of Fury from the Deep on Friday?

I saw the first two episode of Fury from the Deep on Friday … so you know.

The written review’s here.

The video version … ?

Is there …

Now, for anyone else who’s seen it … ?

Has anyone else noticed that the animators have changed Patrick Troughton’s eye colour … ?

It’s …

Well, it’s a mistaken: I think.

But one that does match the colour palette of the two episodes.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-10-2019: Nevada Day

25th October, 2019.

Right … I’m assuming you’ve been following the issues I’ve been having with my boiler?

Basically?

The heating works.   But the hot water it generates is … lukewarm … at best.

The original engineer was out like week?

Offered a work around …

But no actual repair, as he felt it was to old to be fixed.

So … I managed to arrange a visit from a more senior engineer: for yesterday afternoon.

He didn’t turn up.

Basically?   He’d had a few jobs in my street, in the morning, and gave me a phone call to see if he could look in early.

And told me he’d be back, once he found out that I was in Sainbury’s.

Then got the office to phone me, to re-book the visit for today, as his jobs in Chelmsford over-ran.

He’s turning up, this afternoon.

Which is good.

It means I can get something done about the boiler.

And he won’t trip over the electrician who’s due to fix my bathroom light …

About the only downside?

I’ll be stuck indoors all day …

~≈†≈~

While we’re at it … ?

Have you heard of Tor?   The web browser that gives you one hell of a lot of privacy online, by routing you through an encrypted network of computers?

Granted, it has it’s iffy uses: not least accessing the deep web, and the dark web.

But some companies like to have a onion address — one only accessible through Tor — as it means users in repressive countries can access them.

It turns out one of those companies?   Is the BBC.

They’ve just released an onion address for their news site.

This one, in fact.

Don’t open in a normal browser.   You won’t get far …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th October, 2018.

25th October, 2018.

Right, well …

I’ve got time off …

And time off that’s going to involve laundry.

Certainly a bloody nosy washing machine …

Dratted thing!

At any rate, I’ve time off: some of which will be spent doing stuff.

Ho … hum …

~≈§≈~

George Soros, billionaire and Democrat donor, has received an old fashioned mail bomb.

Along side various US politicians.

None of which, thankfully, went off.

Obviously, I think that’s not a nice way to treat a politician.

But it did surprise me.

After all, the last time I remember hearing about mail bombs?

Was in the 1970s: as I recall, the Irish Republican Army sent a few.

It seems an irrational way of protesting.

One that could be intercepted, as these were.

One that will get you charged with attempted murder, at least.

And one that strikes me as very inefficient.

After all, you’ve got to get the parts put together, then send the things to the right address, at a time  your victim is there, AND make sure they — and not the babysitter — open the thing.

It seems too much effort, for very little return.

Frankly?

Making an online video seems a lot easier.

Life: That’ll Do …

25th October, 2017.

You know, I was due to go into work, today.

Was, notice.

But I’m feeling annoyed, as my traitorous guts?   Decided to have an attack.

I’ve got Irritable Bowel Syndrome: and boy, it’s irritating!

Especially when it causes me to lose a days pay.

But at least I’ve figured out what’s caused the problem, after chatting with a friend or two, via Facebook Messenger service.

Yep.

Last night’s baked potato.

I’d put too much oil on the blessed thing!

~≈Ÿ≈~

So, there’s a downside.

There’s ALSO a couple of upsides.

For a start, I mentioned I managed to lose the arm of my glasses, the other day?

I did.

Well, I managed to haul my decaying carcass up to Brentwood High Street, once the stomach cramps had stopped*.

And managed to have a word with my opticians about it.

They’re going to replace the things: at — thankfully — no extra cost.

AND … ?

I managed to catch a movie.

I don’t know if Life’s too short, a bitch or a four letter word.

But the film?   Is decent enough.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-10-2017: The Revolution

Hmmm …

Looks like I’m working the weekend, next week.

Which means I’ll be possibly having quiet words with co-workers to see if they need shifts covered.

No guarantees, there, but there you go!

~≈®≈~

At any rate … ?

I’m working on Friday: but have tomorrow off.

Frankly?

That means I might well be able to catch a movie tonight.

Although, equally as frankly?

That depends on how knackered I feel when I get home, tonight!

Class: Series 1 — Episodes 1 and 2 - For Tonight We Might Die and The Coach With The Drago Tattoo

April (Sophie Hopkins)

Ram (Fady Elsayed)
25th October, 2016.

Charlie (Greg Austin)
Over the years?   Over the years, I’ve liked watching TV shows.

Tanya (Vivian Oparah)
You’ve possibly noticed, haven’t you?

Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly)
You’ve possibly also noticed I’m something of a Dr Who fan: ands, when it was aired?

I was glued to it’s spin-off, Torchwood.

With the latter cancelled — or, at least, on permanent hold — Dr Who’s suffered a little: for the want of a darker and edgier sibling show.

Something that the BBC — along with Dr Who show runner, Stephen Moffat — announced they were to remedy.

Announcing, in October of last year, a new spin-off, called Class, would be aired this year.

The first two episodes?

Were released on BBC 3, the BBC’s online TV channel, on 22nd of October of this year.

Saturday, just gone, in other words.

I’ve just watched them.

I think I’m impressed …

~≈Ê≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-10-2016: The Battle

Phew …

A day off!

And a day off … with a little spending cash.

I’m just thinking …

Should I shop … ?

Or get a haircut?

On the whole, I think the shopping’s the big thing.

I like to eat!

~≈†≈~

God GOD …

I’ve just noticed something floating across my social media feeds.

Pete Burns, former lead singer of Dead or Alive, has died: of a massive heart attack.

Back in the day?   He band the band did some great pop tunes.

Sad day, that … !
