Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2026.

14th April, 2026.

OK … it’s Tuesday.

Which means it’s the day after my weight management meeting.

And … ?

I’ve put on two hundred grams.

That’s not want I wanted to hear: but I’m aware that it was under a kilo.

And that my overall weight is still under 100 kilos.

So that’s something to be grateful for.

~≈⚖️≈~

I missed a call, last night: from my surgery.

So … ?

What I’ve done this morning is call them: and arrange for a call back.

Hopefully, that won’t take too long.

But the automated announcement the surgery has built into their phone system told me I was thirteenth in the queue.

Heigh — wait for it — ho!

~≈📞≈~

Blimey, that was quick!

They’ve just phoned: and re-arranged the appointment I had with the nurse practitioner.

And done that in record time!

Here’s hoping the new appointment goes well.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April 2025.

14th April, 2025.

Did I mention Mikey the Rabbit … ?

Mikey was my nephew, Jude’s, pet rabbit: and sadly died on Saturday night/early Sunday morning.

Jude is 14, and owned Mikey for some eleven years.

Like any one that age, utterly heartbroken.

I’m saddened, myself: it’s amazing how close we can get to pets, even at one remove.

Hopefully, though … ?

Jude will recover from this.

But … ?

Mikey will be much missed.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2024.

14th April, 2024.

Yay!   It’s Sunday!

Which, frankly, means it’s going to be quiet.

Which … you’d possibly already guessed.

Heigh ho!

~≈Ü≈~

Oh … I managed to catch the first episode of Criminal Record, last night.

The series is on AppleTV+, so you know: and caught my attention … because Peter Capaldi’s in it.

As it turns out?

The main character is played by an actress called Cush Jumbo.

Who — as it turned out — played Lois Habiba in Torchwood: Children of Earth*: the last time — to my knowledge — she and Capaldi worked together.

I knew I recognised her from somewhere!

~≈Ü≈~

At any rate … ?

The show’s interesting: and vaguely — very vaguely! — reminds me of The Silence of the Lambs.

With nastier sound effects!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April 2023.

14th April, 2023.

Right …

I don’t like it.

But … ?

I’ve had an official advance on my benefits: to help with the cost of living.

I don’t like the the idea: one little bit.

But … ?

Needs must, an’ all that.

It’s something I’ve felt I could justify, as:
  • I’m expecting my benefits to increase, this month.
  • I’m expecting the award from the tribunal to go through.
Saying that … ?

I’ve still had no word from the Department of Work and Pensions, about that: despite the actual tribunal being a fortnight ago.

I might just have to make another phone call …

~≈¥≈~

I’ve just made that call.

And got through, surprisingly fast.

I should be getting a call — from the relevant case worker — by 18:00, today.

Hopefully?

They can clarify what’s happening.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April 2022.

14th April, 2022.

Right: I’m expecting my nephew, over, this afternoon.

Which means … ?   The flat’s going to be noisy!

Or possibly noisier!

At any rate?

There’s a distinct possibility of more videos!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2021

14th April, 2021.

Right … I’m officially in a rush.

I’ve a job interview — via Zoom — this afternoon.

And a doctor’s appointment — by phone — this morning.

I’m not sure what I’m more nervous about: the appointment, the interview … or using Zoom for the first time!

Doctor Who — The Faceless Ones: Episodes 1 and 2 — A Review

14th April, 2020.

Yes: we in the UK are living life under lockdown.

Hair going uncut, laundry done in an obsessive manner, vegetables fretted about …

And a general sense that life is … on hold …

For now.

Frankly?

I am bored out of my nut: as, I suspect, is most of the country.

And, quite possibly?

Quite possibly, I’m doing what many of us are doing.

Watching TV.

To be more specific?

I’ve just watched the first two episodes of classic Doctor Who story, The Faceless Ones*: complete with Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2020.

14th April, 2020.

Right at the moment … ?

It’s Tuesday: and just gone ten to eight.

Frankly?

I’m going to be heading up to town, later: to pick up my diabetes medication.

And to get some shopping.

After a two week holiday?   Sainsbury’s have added some offers to my Nectar card.

Including for white fleshed sweet potatoes.

I hope they’ve got some.

I’m getting heartily sick of the red ones!

~≈¥≈~

Oh, just as a quick thought?

A robotics engineer in California has scored scored some brownie points.

By building an experimental ventilator: out of easily available parts, a lot of open source code … and a Raspberry Pi, Britain’s best selling computer.

The thing’s currently getting testing in Colombia.

Hopefully?

Someone in the UK will pick that up.

It sounds like it could be an ideal solution, here in the UK.

Especially given that the Pi, the best selling British computer ever made?

Is British!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2019.

14th April, 2019.

Yep: today’s Teaser is going to be slightly video heavy.

You see, I want to Sainsbury’s, yesterday: just to pick some bits up.

And couldn’t help notice that there’s now security cameras on them.

Built into handy monitors, so you can see what you’re doing.

I got mildly annoyed: annoyed enough to make a video, and posted it to YouTube.

Oh, and emailed them, as well.

I can understand they’re doing they’re utmost to make sure their stock’s secure …

But see that as deeply invasive of my privacy.

I’ll let you know if I hear anything back …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th April, 2018

14th April, 2018.

Right …

It’s a Saturday: obviously.

Anyone looking at the calendar would be able to tell you that.

It’s also 14th April.

Again, the calendar would be helpful, there.

There’s also … been Allied airstrikes against selected targets in Syria.

Complete with an announcement from President Trump.

I’m …

Not sure I approve.

The three governments involved have kept things to an — apparent — minimum: by limiting strikes to alleged chemical weapons sites.

And?

Personally?

I don’t like the fact we’ve done this: just on general principles.

Nor do I like the fact we’ve done this with no apparent mandate from the United Nations.

And, while I can understand — indeed, approve of — the UK’s expelling Russian diplomats, post Salisbury, I can’t approve the fact that a British government is acting — on this — under US government instructions.

What’s more?   I think the President’s language — at least in the video announcement, above — to be very emotive.

Too emotive for this situation.

However?

What’s done is done …

I, personally?   Can only hope airstrikes don’t lead to further involvement.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-4-2017: First Flight

Well, finally …

That most precious of things I have — a day off — was something I managed to use.

Or spend, at any rate.

Look, I had yesterday off: and got paid a day early.

And … ?

Did laundry.   Made videos.   Wrote teasers.

And finally got to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

And loved it it.

But it’s the one film I’ve seen that gets me wanting a bigger telly!

The Daily Teaser — 14-4-2016: The Grapes of Wrath

Oh, THAT’S a bit better …

I managed to get sleep, last night.

Which is something I’m thankful for, frankly.

Although it does mean I can remember having a (short) dream.

Where I was talking to a young woman, with a faceful of red make-up — like a red version of this — about the bus.

Apparently, we’d missed it.

She said.

In mime!

I usually find I have half an idea what a dream’s trying to tell me.

Except when it involves red-faced, female mime artists …

~≈Â≈~

Oh … and just as a small piece of news?

I’ve just had a look at my various social media news feeds …

To find actor Gareth Thomas — who I remember as Blake, in Blake’s 7, and Children of the Stones — has died.

That’s sad!
