Right, then: it’s officially Thursday.

And … ?

I’ve worked out a minor thing about macOS Tahoe, the new operating system I’ve got.

I mentioned, yesterday, that screen shots were now saved in the HEIC format.

After a little experimenting?

It seems it does that if I use one specific keyboard shortcut — ⌘, ⇧ and 5, CMD, Shift and 5 — rather than another: ⌘, ⇧ and 4.

Quite why it does that?

I don’t know.

Oh … I’ve had the Today programme on, again.

You’d possibly guessed.

And … ?

They’ve had former Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Nick Clegg, on, to talk about technology.

Who made the very good point that, for all US tech firms announcing investment in this country, yesterday, the people of the UK still most use US software on US designed hardware.

Apple’s iOS and Macs, Microsoft’s Windows based PCs, most Android phones, usually feature US designed components: whether hardware or software.

And, whilst the the software that underlies both the ’Web and the ’Net, itself, had some elements designed by British engineers?

It’s mostly American.

I’m happily using a Mac: long accused of being a closed ecosystem.

But … ?

Would love to see a British-made operating system — Ubuntu, for example — do well.

But, whilst I’m aware a lot of software services — Microsoft Office, or Spotify — are available, online, to a lot of devices … 

I’m also aware that something like Ubuntu has no killer apps: no apps, specifically designed for it, that would boost sales.

All of those?

Seem to be on other devices …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 18-9-2024 — The Referendum

18th September, 2024: the Referendum.

Well, that’s an annoyance!

I’ve updated my Mac, yesterday: to macOS 15 Sequoia, and — as part of the process — the web browser to Safari 18.

The new OS seems sign: and includes a new Background feature in Quicktime, one I used to make the introduction video.

And a funky new screen saver or two*.

Unfortunately?

The updated version of Safari seems to have issues keeping me signed in to Blogger … whilst uploading videos and photos to a given post.

I had to use Google’s Chrome browser to upload those.

That’s an annoyance.

Especially when you consider uploading these things was no problem … before the update.

Oh … and I’ve JUST been sent a message in Facebook Messenger: only to be told ‘end to end encryption isn’t supported in this browser’.

It was yesterday!

Frankly?

I think Apple needs to put some work in.

A few days ago, I found out that someone had been been murdered: at the council accommodation I’d lived in, in Ingrave Road.

I was shocked, and saddened: but not necessarily surprised.

But I now know the name of the man who was killed: 63 year old Francis ‘Frankie’ Reilly.

I never knew the man.

But I’m sorry to see him go.

I’m actually up, late!

I’m usually up early on a Monday: to Get to my weight management programme on time!

But … ?

Forgot to set my alarm, last night!

Arrrgh is possibly putting it mildly!

It’s officially Sunday: and frankly?

I think it’s going to be quiet.

With the funeral going on, tomorrow?

I’m not exactly expecting things to be busy!

Actually?

Would you mind a confession?

I wouldn’t’ve minded joining the queue to pay my respects.

Partly?   It’s seems the right thing to do.

But it’s also an event.

One* I suspect will be talked about for many years.

Either way?

I’m planning on getting up early, tomorrow.

The first state funeral in seventy years will be something to watch.

And, if Jude has kids?   I want to be able to tell them I watched it.

My nephew was over, yesterday: and managed to put another video, together.

As did I: finishing off a review of the first episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

Candyman (2021) — A Review

OK … 

I am — in the immortal words of Hector the Hound … ? — a great big silly old Hector.

I usually start my film reviews off, the evening I watch the films concerned.

Then finish them off the next day, after a good night’s sleep.

You’ll have to take the thought as the metaphorical — metaphorical? proverbial? — deed.

And assume I started this, last night.

At any rate, last night’s film was something I’ve been meaning to watch for some time.

Yes: the 2021, Nia DaCosta directed, Jordan Peele produced, horror film, Candyman.

I’ve tested positive for COVID-19.

At my last ONS swab test, a few days ago.

Which means I’ve got to self isolate for the next few days.

OK, granted, it’s for a good cause.

And, granted, I had it mild*.

But I’m going to be climbing the walls by the end of it.

Those of us who use Blogger as our main blogging platform have now been permanently switched to the new Blogger interface.

Without having been given a specific date for that to happen: just a generic advisor.

Well, I’m not happy.   Although I’ll give Google credit for tidying up some aspects.

I’ll adjust … 

But it’s a definite pain.

Yep: I’ve got a regret, again.

I would love a TV, with a bigger screen.

Especially when you consider I watched Solo: A Star Wars Story, last night.

Amazing stuff, I should add.

But … ?

The only regret I have about it?

Is my TV screen’s a bit too small!

It, and the rest of the recent Star Wars entries really do deserve a big screen!

I’ve also got to confess: I’m slightly jealous.

Of Japanese businessman, Yusaku Maezawa.

He’s been announced as one of SpaceX’s first Moon tourists.

I don’t know about you, but I’d love to be in Maezawa-san’s shoes!

I have to admit to being at my family’s, yesterday.

Partly to have dinner.   And partly to help build a new rabbit hutch for my nephew’s rabbits.

Jude helped, of course.

If I DID … ?   That would possibly make me rich!

In other news, I had an interview, yesterday: for a job in Billericay.

And, unfortunately?

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the job.

I did, however, get some helpful feedback: apparently, there was a question I’d misunderstood.

Now I think of it?

I just wish I’d asked which bloody question!
