I don’t know.

I’ve spent most of last night, farting.

Well, I don’t know!

You’ve possibly realised that the Artemis 2 mission has been happening.

And is now officially heading home: after finishing the part of the mission that saw it go behind the far side of the moon … and carry out various observations.

In the process, they became the only humans to go that far into space, and were cut off from radio contact for some forty minutes: as the Moon was blocking the radio signal.

I can’t imagine how strange that must have been: being the most isolated humans in history.

Here’s hoping they get back, safely: I can possibly ask them …

It’s Monday morning, again.

The inevitability of the week tumbling around from one day to the next, grinding like a millstone: oppressing all with its mundanity.

Humanity can only rail against the inevitability of time’s passing.

I’m sorry, I seem to have turned into Mr Doomy!

It’s Monday: which means that — however doomy I get — I’m up early to head for my weight management group.

Hopefully?

I’ll’ve lost more weight: carrying on last week’s trend would be nice.

MakeMKV — the disc copying software I use — has now had a patch issued: to correct the flaw that prevented me, and others, copying and decrypting blurays.

Which, going by the relevant thread on the forum … ?

Was also affecting some Windows machine.

I have to give credit to the team behind the software.

They’ve worked incredibly fast to correct a flaw.

Well done, them!

It’s officially official: I have no money in the bank.

I know for sure … because I’ve just double checked, three times.

• Zilch.
• Nowt.
• Nothing.

Or, as my bank puts it … ?

Nil.

Not … a thing … 

So you know … ?

I attended a phone tribunal, last week: to see if I qualified for extra financial help.

And am due the letter about the decision is due, today.

I’m frustrated: at the lack of any cash … and the lack any information.

The frustration … ?

Is getting a bit much.

Right … Thursdays are … usually just a day.

Except, of course, this Thursday — today? — is going to be busy.

I’ve a weight management meeting, this morning.

Then have to head for Chelmsford, this afternoon, for a meeting with my Restart case worker.

By the time I get back … ?   I fully expect my legs to hurt.

Hopefully … ?

Today goes better than yesterday.

I was Judesitting: on the same day I was due to have a phone meeting with my Job Centre work coach.   She’d change the date from next Tuesday, to yesterday, right at the last minute.

I spent a lot of the morning I was looking after Jude — making a video, so you know — alternating between editing: and desperately try to message my work coach about changing the date.

Which she finally did … five minutes before Jude want home.

I know COVID-19’s meant the Job Centre’s been overwhelmed.

But it certainly didn’t do my chest any good!

It’s got to be said: I like a certain amount of electronica.

So, as you’ll realise from the video intro, there?   You’ll realise I’m (metaphorically) staring at my bed: and the seductive prose of Ursula LeGuin’s The Lathe of Heaven.

It’s my current book at bedtime.

So … ?

I’m repeating something of a pattern: one that works for me.

I’ve watched a TV show.

An episode of For All Mankind — series 2, so you know.

And?

Before I hit the sack — and read another chapter of George Orr’s dreams — I wanted the record to show I’d started writing this review of Every Little Thing.

Yes: I’m going to be doing stuff!

No, really!   I managed to see the first episode of For All Mankind’s second series, last night: a rather exciting episode involving a solar flare.

That, and the video, will be live, later.

I’ve also got to give Basildon Hospital a ring, as I’m having a phone appointment, next week.   I want to make sure they have the right number.

All that … ?

And I’ll confess to feeling rather pleased.

Last night’s home made beef stew went down rather well.

I think I’m getting the hang of parsnips …

I THINK blogging’s having an effect on me!

I’ve seen this piece on the BBC’s news site: a piece that tells us dozens have been fined over what the article calls — with pointed quote marks  — ‘illegal mushroom picking.’

The way my mind works?

I’m wondering if the people fined were fined for picking mushrooms illegally, or picking illegal mushrooms!

Who knows!

I think I’m going to have something of a rant, here.

Ish … 

We know Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been taken into intensive care at Saint Thomas Hospital: as a way of staving off the the Corona Virus.

Good luck to him.

I hope he doesn’t die: the country could do with out a leadership election at a time like this.

But … ?

For starters, the man could have observed the social distancing rules he himself was promoting: far better than he actually did.

Secondly?

I can’t help but notice the amount of supportive comments — comments bordering on hero worship — the man’s getting.

Literal, hero worship.

That is not something I’m comfortable with.

That amount of reverence is not a good thing.

I’m sort of with Frank Herbert, here.   Religious reverence for a political figure — which, for me, is what this appears to be — is distinctly unwise: as it hands a lot of power to a human.

We have, not a PM, but a messiah.

We have a hero.

Who the hell wants that?

One who’s had a Mac for quite some time, and one who’s had trouble with iMovie: after some updates.

Thankfully?

Those seem to have been solved: after more recent updates.

I know have a functioning version of iMovie.

In fact … ?   And as I asked in today’s intro … ?

I think the intro in last night’s post — about Westworld —was just a bit …

Oh, that’s a thought … 

I’ve always taken an interest in the history of Bletchley Park: the code breaking centre that was vital to the Allied success in World War Two.

It seems reconstruction of the Heath Robinson machine — the machine used to decrypt high level messages — has now been completed.

I visited the National Museum of Computing, with friends, many years ago: where we saw it displayed.

Frankly?

The fact it’s now in action?   Means I’d love to see it again!

No, really: it’s WAY too early in the morning to be this early in the morning.

I’m actually looking forward to next Saturday.

Granted, I’d be up as early: but I’m pencilled in to be OFF the day before.

Which means I’d be able to get an equally early night.

You know, I was going to open by telling you I’d watched The Girl With All the Gifts, last night.

Fantastic little film, I should add.

If I’ve understood what I’ve been told by friends who’ve served in the army?   British military doctrine holds that one should only use one — one — bullet per enemy soldier.

You only need one bullet, if you’re doing your job properly.

And it’s cheaper in ammo.

Then?

When I’ve woken up, this morning, and switched on the radio.

I’m aware that, a few days ago, the Syrian government ordered a chemical weapons on the town of Khan Sheikhoun, a few days ago.

In response, the US has launched a missile attack last night: on the airfield they say launched the chemical attack.   With, I should add, the support of the UK and Australian governments.

Right now?

I’m a mix of emotions.

I’m as horrified as any of us, seeing children killed in the initial attack.

As they have been in many such actions, before now.

To an extent?   I can understand a US president wanting to take action as a result.

If my nephew, Jude, was in that crowd of children hit in the attack?

Well … 

On the other hand?

I’m very aware I’m not the US president.

That some people’s actions have serious repercussions.

9/11 had repercussions.

That chemical attack has brought down reprisals from the US.

I fell the response from the US Government, its military attack?

Could be as world changing as 9/11‡.
