Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th September 2025.

24th September, 2025.

I think we can safely say it’s turning autumnal.

For a starter?

My feet are freezing: more-so, I’m told, than those of us who aren’t diabetic.

The condition causes poor circulation that shows up — in my case? — as chilly toes.

Slippers help.

Which is not something I was expecting to tell you, when I was in my twenties …

~≈🦶≈~

Which reminds me: those feet were complained about by an ex-girlfriend, back when we were dating.

There was one night, though, that managed to stick in my mind: as we spend the night watching a film called Event Horizon.

Which was a fantastic piece: but flawed, as the director’s plans — to make a two-hour version — were overruled by the studio.

Who insisted on a ninety minute cut.

The missing footage has long since been lost.

That’s a screaming shame.

The version presented is great, but you can spot the flaws with some of the character development: especially with the Sam Neill character, Dr Weir.

Yes: I have got a 4k version of the thing on order.

But … ?

I would dearly love to see that director’s cut.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2024 — The Ship

24th September, 2024: the Ship.

Right then …

It’s Tuesday: you’ve possibly already figured that out.

And, yes: I’m up early, again.

For an opticians appointment.

I can only hope there’s nothing too serious going on …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th September 2023.

24th September, 2023.

Yes: it’s officially official.

I’ve done a video or two.

Hopefully … ?

They’re enjoyable!

~≈Ñ≈~

Talking of videos?   Which we weren’t?

The latest trailer for the 60th anniversary Dr Who specials, dropped last night.

They do look rather good, don’t they … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2022 — Cambodia

24th September, 2022.

Yep: I’m up early, again.

On a Saturday!

The reason?   Is simply that I have an eye test!

I’m looking forward to it: I could do with new lenses.

The Queen is dead: long live her replacement.

Now the funeral is over, and we have a worki  functioni

We have a government that’s back in action.

Yesterday?

New Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, had a financial event on Friday.

Not a budget: or even a mini-budget.

A financial event.

Basically?   He’s announced a slew of financial measures: including a lot of tax cuts.

Including lowering the basic rate to 19p in the pound.

Not something  that will benefit me: until I start working.

Which sounds about right, frankly!

He’s also announced a change in the rules for Universal Credits.

There’s a change to the amount of hours you can work, before you have to report in to a Job Centre.

And extra help finding work for the over-fifties.

Apparently?   We’re going to get more time with out work coaches.

Personally?

I think we have a Chancellor who’s doing busy-work: rather than anything useful.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2021: Jim Henson

24th September, 2021.

I don’t know about you: but occasionally … ?

I look out of the rear window.

Just so you know: the buildings on our estate have green emergency lights.

And, on dark mornings, when light from the street lights in the area hits the clouds?

The block of flats always catches my eyes.

Except in daylight, of course.

It’ll only start looking similar — and possibly better lit — this evening.

After my Sainsbury’s delivery has turned up.

~≈fl≈~

Many years ago, I can remember we had a petrol shortage: I can still remember the queues down Warley Hill, from the nearest petrol station.

Britain doesn’t have one, at the moment.

It does have a shortage of truck drivers.

Including, it seems, ones that drive the lorries that deliver petrol to garages*.

I don’t think the shortage is going to last long.

But … ?   For me it highlights something.

There is, it seems, an idea doing the rounds: that says the government should class lorry drivers as key workers, and therefore offer more, and quicker, visa applications to European drivers.

I think that’s a good idea.

But note the irony.

So many Leavers voted leave, so more British people could have those jobs.

Except, of course … ?   No-one British wants them …

Hence the shortages … and the visas.

Hey, bloody, ho … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th September, 2019.

24th September, 2019.

You know, the weather’s frustrating, isn’t it … ?

I’ve a meeting at the Job Centre, today.

Up at its new offices in Brentwood High Street.

And … ?

Yes, granted: I hate walking up that hill.

I really loathe it …

When it’s raining.

Which it is today.

When you consider we’ve had one of the warmest Septembers for a while?

The weather picks a fantastic day to … you know … change!

~≈Ü≈~

Something I know that’s coming up … ?

Is Christmas.

Regular readers will know about the Family Christmas Present.

That’s happily sorted: with a Chromecast, and a gift voucher.

Then, of course … ?

My sister, Ruth — my nephew, Jude’s, mother — contacted me, last night.

She’s decided to get a Nintendo Switch for my nephew.

And — as I mentioned in this post — suggested I get a game for it …

I’m not going to call the prices extortionate*.

No.

Not when grabby, exorbitant and daylight robbery are hanging around …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2018: Nevermind

24th September, 2018.

Yep, it’s official, I used to play guitar: badly, at that.

As you can possibly tell, if you watch until the end of the intro video.

Strange, I know: but even given that, I felt I should at least give the thing an airing: considering the days subject.

Yes.

You’d noticed the photo, hadn’t you … ?

~≈§≈~

I’ve got to admit, I’ve noticed something on Facebook.

Someone’s posted to a Dr Who group I’m in: claiming that the start date had been announced.

7PM, on the 7th, seemingly.

I’m not quoting that as definitive, though.

There’s nothing on the BBC website, yet, after all.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24th September, 2017

Ye gods, I’ve just realised something.

My next day off is Thursday!

Means … well …

Possibly, quite a lot!

I do know it’s going to be a bit of a slog, though.

Especially as I’m doing a 41 week, next week.

Still …

It pays for Christmas …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 24-9-2016

Right …

I’ve got another interview, today!

For a local branch of Greggs.

Frankly, I’m looking forward to it.

Although I’m VERY aware I’ve had several interviews … and got nowhere.

Especially with the interview I had for Toolstation last Tuesday!

I’m …

Well, let’s just say I’m nervous, and leave it there, shall we?

~≈†≈~

Which doesn’t describe something else I was up to, yesterday.

I had to change my password for my email account!

I’m with BT: as I’m sure you’re already aware!

And BT’s email accounts system?   Is something they buy in from Yahoo.   So the password change was something BT made a point of mentioning, as a result of the recent Yahoo hack.

All good …

Except my copy of Apple’s Mail refused to connect to my emails account, after I changed.

Frankly?

I’m just grateful I could get hold of a copy of Thunderbird as a replacement!
