Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2026 — Judge Dread

2nd May, 2026: Judge Dread.

That’s one for the books!

I’m something of an armchair snooker fan: and try and make sure I watch the World Championship, if nothing else.

This year’s tournament has been interesting to watch.

And I’m thinking the finals will see John Higgins play Wu Yize.

We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if I’m right.

But … ?

I caught the game between Wu Yize and Mark Allen, last night.

Dear gods, the fourteenth frame!

That frame went on for one hour and forty minutes: as a result of a hampered top right, corner pocket.

In other words, the black ball was over the pocket: with the remaining reds clustered around it, unable to be potted.

It … went … on … for hours … !

Well, it felt like hours.

I’ve not seen a re-rack — a frame that needs re-starting — for some years.

But, my gods … !

That fourteenth frame needed it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd May, 2025.

2nd May, 2025.

Yesterday … ?

Saw local elections take place in part of the UK: and a parliamentary by-election take place in Runcorn.

Elections that have seen Reform UK do well: they won the Runcorn seats by some six votes*!

I’ll a little disappointed elections didn’t happen here in Brentwood: they’ve been postponed until next year.

I’m disappointed — in part — because my town didn’t get a chance to vote, to have its say.

But also … ?

Because we didn’t get a chance to refuse to vote for a right wing party.

I suspect, though, that had there been an election … Reform would do worryingly well.

Anyone else in charge of Essex would be good!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2024 — Bend It Like Beckham.

2nd May, 2024: Bend It Like Beckham!

Right … it’s Election Day … !

Whoopee!

It basically means I have a chance to spoil my vote: at least for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

There is no-one on that ballot I want to vote for.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2023 — World Tuna Day.

2nd May, 2023: World Tuna Day.

Right …

It’s Tuesday: which means that — possibly — excitement, adventure, and really wild things will turn up.

Ot, at least, some post.

I’m still expecting one last graphic novel … and a drainer.

My current one’s a mess!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-4-2022: Catherine the Great

2nd May, 2022.

I’ve got To say, I was following the first half of the World Snooker Championship finals, yesterday.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is leading Judd Trump, 12-5.

In what was a … well, the BBC’s page on it calls it a ‘feisty’ first half.

For a start?   About three frames in, it took the Ref some ten minutes — including five minutes of arguing with Ronnie — to point the cue ball back where it was.

Ronnie also managed to have something of an argument with the Ref, later in the game.

Apparently, Ronnie made a gesture.

That … ?

And At least one re-racked frame?

Made for an interesting first half.

Despite Ronnie’s assertive behaviour?   He’s still 12-5 up.

And frankly?   I think he’s end up with a seventh title …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd May, 2021.

2nd May, 2021.

Right …

You’ll remember that it’s Local Election time in the UK: with the elections themselves being held, this Thursday.

And that I’m not especially happy to get tons of election leaflets: especially considering I’ve got a great big ‘Vote Green’ poster.

With effects to ask candidates — Councillor Karen Chilvers in particular — not yo put leaflets through my door, being dismissed.

Rather disdainfully, I felt: frankly, that gives me another reason not to vote for her.   (I won’t voting the Tory candidate, Will Russell: he, at least, was politer about the leaflet situation.   I’m not going to be voting for the Reform Party, either: the impression I’ve formed is that they’re far more right wing than they claim*.   And that voting for anything that Nigel Farage founded is something sensible people should avoid like the plague.)

At ANY rate … ?

I actually managed to bump into the Lib-Dem activist who was delivering to the remaining properties in the area, yesterday.

And asked her to pass on the message: NOT to deliver to my address.

I can only hope that gets passed on: and sticks.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-4-2020: Portsmouth

2nd May, 2020.

I think we can safely say too things.

Lockdown is still on.

Which … is par for the course, I think.

After seeing some fan art on Instagram?

I’m reminded my dentist is the spit of Sacha Dhawan.

In other words, I know a man who looks like a psychotic Time Lord, happy to kill everything and anyone for fun …

Who has access to dental drills.

It’s not what you call reassuring … !

And, to top that lot off … ?

Noted anti-semite, and conspiracy theorist, David Icke, has had his Facebook page taken down.

Thank heavens for that.

The next stop’s a Twitter ban!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2019: King James Strikes Again … !

2nd May, 2019.

Yes: it’s officially Local Election Day.

If you’re in bits of the UK.

Personally?

I’ll be doing that later: once I’ve finished, indoors.

And … ?

For once, this year, I’ve actually found a party that’s standing, that I’m comfortable voting for.

Frankly?

If they weren’t standing … ?

I’d be encouraging folks to do what I usually do: if no one I like the look os is standing.

And telling you to spoil your vote.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd May 2018.

2nd May, 2018.

It’s officially official: a government official fro the Cayman Isles — being interviewed on the Today programme — has just called John Humphrys, Mr Humphrys … !

The man’s reputation as the political interviewing equivalent of Vito Genovese?   Is getting him a lot of … well …

Manners … !

At any rate … ?

I’m up comparatively early, today.

I’ve a dentist appointment, today, and, as I’m walking?

Wanted to make sure I’m up early enough.

Here’s hoping the checkup finds nothing wrong …

Oh, as a quick point?

It seems video blogger, Logan Paul, is giving up his series of daily posts.

I’m sort of sympathetic.   Just a regular written one is time consuming.

On the other hand, my first thought?

Was ‘The wimp!’

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-4-2017

*Yawn*

I think I’m starting to loath bank holiday weekends … !

Oh, I can’t complain about the amount of hours I‘m doing.

I can complain about the side effects.

Those late night trains home?

Are a bit of a killer.

Right at the moment?   The trains between Brentwood and Shenfield — first stage in my journey to work in Chelmsford — have been replaced by buses: as a result of the various bits of Crossrail work.

That’s not too bad.

At weekends?   The trains from Shenfield to Chelmsford get replaced by buses: either from Shenfield to Ingatestone to Chelmsford, OR from Shenfield to Ingatestone, with a train from Ingatestone to Chelmsford.

The latter?   Adds about twenty minutes to the trip.

When you’re getting up at six on a Sunday, to get to work?

Means that’s about the nearest I’d get to jet lag!
