12th October, 2024: Yom Kippur.

It’s now, officially, Saturday: and a few smaller bits have been delivered.

Including a few Christmas presents: ones the driver would only deliver, once I’ve given him a code number,

Finding that on my phone was fun!

At any rate … ?

One thing I got was a new kettle … 

One with a measure on both sides: and therefore, easy to use for a left hander like me.

That’s a result, I think.

Which went well enough.

I’ve now got … a day off.

Or, at least, as much of a day off as you get, when you’re out of work!

I’ve just got enough enough to go shopping.

And?   Frankly?

Thinking spaghetti would make a nice change from chilli!

Bit also thinking I like my chilli!

Right … the first thing I did this morning … ?

Was … well, I did several things, this morning: clean my teeth, wash my face, what have you!

But one of the things I did … ?

Was make sure that my copy of Microsoft Teams was working: which it apparently is.

I’ve an interview at eleven, today.

Hopefully, one that will go well …

Did I mention Sundays … ?

Usually, I have dinner with my family, on Sundays: after babysitter my nephew on a Thursday.

Something I found out, last Thursday?

Was that I could get a laugh out of my nephew, Jude … with a silly song … 

By the time it got to yesterday?

Jude was insisting I play the song to his friends, via Fortnite’s messaging service.

I got a lot of giggling: which always sounds like fun.

I think I’ve started something!

Right … I’m up early, again!

Basically … ?

I’m helping my kid sister on an educational trip to the ExCel centre in London: for their New Scientist Live event.

We’re not the only family members there, I think.

If you see Richardson and Richardson Jewellery store, there?

For starters, go buy something: they’ll have something that grabs you.

And secondly?   It’s run by Wendy, my cousin Dean’s wife, and their daughter, Hannah.   Who’s either my first cousin twice removed, or my second cousin once removed!

Isn’t life complicated … ?

I’ve got to be quick, today: as I’ve got a dentist appointment, today.

But … 

I get a mention in this weeks Brentwood Gazette.

Basically?

Because my street, Rollason Way, is to be adopted by Essex County Council.

In other words?

Essex County Council will be responsible for enforcing any on-street parking controls.

Rather than original developers, Crest Nicholson.

I’m grateful: assuming this leads to less on-street congestion … and freer access for emergency vehicles.

That’s been a bugaboo of mine for a good few years.

I’ve got to admit to being a news junkie: I’ll follow ANYONE, if they’ve got a half decent news feed.

Well … 

If they’re a BBC journalist on Twitter!

OK, my point … ?

Is that I’ve had half an eye on the situation with producer, Harvey Weinstein.

Who’s facing accusations of various shades sexual assault charge.

I’m not going to defend the man.

I’m not surprised about the accusations, though: let’s face it, stories about the Casting Couch have been around for a while.

And that’s before you start talking about Fatty Arbuckle.

Does that diminish the films he’s produced?

I don’t know.

But I can imagine someone will want to start a boycott.

One other piece of news that floated across my feed?

Was that — seemingly — Kaspersky Labs popular anti-virus software has been exploited: by the Russian government.

Not that I use it: with the amount of malicious software around for the Mac, I tend to use common sense, rather than software to keep my machine free of nasties.

But?

I think that — if the Russian government is exploiting a popular piece of protective software — that implies, if not proves, that the US government are going something similar.

Granted, the likes of you and me aren’t going to have anything on our devices of interested to a government determined to spy on rivals?

But it certainly adds a new terror to privacy concerns.

Hmmm … 

I’ve just started a new job: and, obviously, worried about the state of my finances.

New job, commuting, and all that … !

But … ?

Last night was my first night buddied up with someone, seeing how the phones operated, and how the logging systems worked.

It actually seems a lot simpler than it sounds in training.

Incredibly detailed simpler, but still, simpler.

Hopefully?

This is a job I can do, earn money at … 

And do some good with, helping people …
