Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-11-2025 — Plymouth.

12th November, 2025: Plymouth.

Wouldn’t you know it … ?

I got my dates mixed up!

I had thought my gas safety check was due, yesterday.

It wasn’t until I opened my emails, yesterday, and got a reminder … that I realised the thing was supposed to be today.

Where do I put my face … ?

~≈🤦🏼‍♂️≈~

As it turns out … ?

Nowhere!

Robert Heath — my landlord’s boiler contractor — have just phoned.

Apparently, their tradesman is off, for some reason.

So they’ve rescheduled for two weeks time.

Ho … … … hum!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-10-205 — The Pledge of Allegiance

12th October, 2025: The Pledge of Allegiance.

Right … the new glasses — three pairs of them — have been picked up.

And … ?

The distance and intermediate pair seem to be working well.

I’ve not tried the reading glasses, as yet.

But given the other two pairs seem good?

I’ve no doubt I’ll be finishing Night Watch, soon.

~≈👮🏽‍♂️≈~

I have to admit, it’s rare I get a chance to go to a convention: much as I’d like to.

But?

I’m very aware that trailers and sneak peeks get aired at them.

And very aware a Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season four clip has been aired at New York Comic Con.

Which looks interesting: quite what Lieutenant Ortega has been planning with Scotty, I don’t know.

They’ve also announced Starfleet Academy, the Starfleet: Discovery spinoff is going premier on 15th January, 2026.

I think things are going to get busy …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th November 2024.

12th November, 2024.

What on Earth happened there?

I’ve paid my council tax for this year: or, at least, had enough help from Brentwood Council’s hardship fund, to cover the cost.

I got a revised, zero, bill in May of this year.

So … ?

Why the council email me, last night: with another revised bill?   For £417?

I don’t know.

Understandably, I’m not a happy bunny.

Frankly?

I’m going to have to take documentary proof that the bill’s been settled, today: and that I’m getting Personal Independence Payment, as that also gets a discount.

But … ?

You’d think the council would keep a record of these things.

~≈🧾≈~

You’ve heard of assisted dying, haven’t you?

The idea that those in severe need can opt to have help in ending their lives: with or without the help of a physician, or family member.

There’s been moves to introduce various bills over the years: moves that have had more attention, ever since author Terry Pratchett advocated for the idea, after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Labour MP, Kim Leadbeater, has introduced a Private Members bill in the House of Commons: that legalises it in the UK.

It’s been published, today.

Personally?

Whilst it’s something I can’t see myself, or any member of my family, wanting?

It’s something I feel is like abortion.

It’s something that must be made legally available to those of us in the UK who need it.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th November 2023.

12th November, 2023.

Yess: it’s officially official.

It’s Sunday: Remembrance Sunday, so you know.

And … ?

It looks like it’s going to rain.

This is possibly not the day to watch the parade in person … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th November 2022.

12th November, 2022.

Yes: it’s officially Saturday.

Which means … ?

Frankly, it means I’ve got the blood tests out of the way: I’ve got to phone my GP’s to organise an appointment with the diabetes nurse, but they’re done for this quarter.

I’ve ALSO had a dentists checkup, as well.

Thankfully?

There’s nothing falling out.

And nothing that needs poking.

~≈Á≈~

JUST in case you’re interested?

I caught another episode of Star Trek Strange New Worlds, last night.

As my intro video will tell you … ?

My reviews — written and video — will be up, tonight.

Keep your eyes peeled!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-11-2021: World Pneumonia Day

12th November, 2021.

Right, I know, I know …

Me singing at you in today’s introduction video is not necessarily pleasant.

But I’ll be frank.

I’ve had Huey Smith’s Rockin’ Pneumonia banging around my since I got up … !

~≈§≈~

Oh, on the medical assessment front … ?

I managed to get in touch with the relevant people, yesterday.

They’ve assured me that the problematic face to face meeting has been cancelled, that I’m eligible for a phone meeting and that I’m in the waiting list for one.

The young man I spoke to gave me his name: and his staff ID number, as well: so I could pass those on to the Job Centre, in case of any (sanctionable) issues.

So that’s that sorted!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th November, 2019

12th November, 2019.

Yes: it’s official.

My boiler is due to be fixed, today.

The chap’s due, this afternoon.

I have to admit, I had a phone call, yesterday: asking if he could come earlier.

I’ve said I’d seriously prefer this afternoon …

Here’s hoping …

~≈†≈~

JUST as a revision?

The boiler contractors have phoned, today.

Apparently, the engineer won’t be able to do the job, today … as he won’t have enough time …

Ho …

Bloody …

Hum … !

~≈†≈~

Right …

Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, launches, today: in parts of the world.

I don’t, personally, have the cash for it.

But I’m willing to bet the different launch dates are going to encourage a lot of piracy.

Especially given that it owns quite a few major franchises.

Personally?

I’m just wondering if The Mandalorian is suitable for an eight years old …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th November, 2018.

12th November2018.

Right, I am worried …

Basically … ?   And as I know regular readers will be able to tell you?

Worried about whether I have a job to go to, tonight.

Long story, basically.

But … ?

Losing it will have financial implications, obviously.

But at the moment … ?

I could do without the stress …

~≈§≈~

The one GOOD thing?

Simple that I managed to catch last night’s episode of Dr Who, as it was broadcast.

Which, again, was another strong episode.

One that left me thinking we need to say more of Vinay Patel, the writer of Demons of the Punjab, and of Malorie Blackman, who co-wrote Rosa.

Here’s hoping they’re lined up for series twelve.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-11-2017: Remembrance Sunday

Well, there we go …

It’s a Sunday … when I’m due to tea into work for ten.

And, thankfully?

It’s the day before a day off.

Which means I’ll be able to catch up with my sleep, at some point.

Something I’m looking forward to: I don’t know about you.

One thing I did manage to do, last night, before I went to bed?

Was catch another episode of  Freak Show.

Granted, this is only series four of American Horror Story: some of the latter ones may be better.

But, being brutally honest with you?

Freak Show’s got an emotion depth to it the earlier three series don’t.

And got me thinking I should catch Magic, the old Anthony Hopkins film.

Maybe one day …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-11-2016

Hmmm …

I don’t know about you …

But — occasionally, during quiet patches at work — I’ll sneak a quiet read of the news.

Sadly … ?

Sadly, the news of Robert Vaughan dying started coming in, last night.

That’s not good news to hear.

~≈Ç≈~

The other piece I noticed … ?

Was this one: discussing the pros and cons of DVDs versus downloads.

Personally?

I tend to prefer DVDs: I can rip them, and resell them to my local CeX.   I can watch the Series, and offset some of the cost.

But that hasn’t stopped me downloading series three of The Strain from iTunes.

Hopefully?   I’ll get a chance to watch that during the week.
