Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd March 2026.

22nd March, 2026.

It’s officially official: it’s Sunday morning.

And, frankly?

I’ve just turned off the radio.

Radio Four airs a Sunday service on Sundays,

And, while a suitably high Anglican service can be nice … the choir can be a bit — how do I put this? — shrieky …

~≈⛪︎≈~

I should also mention something.

Yes: a nice shiny box turned up!

I’m now the owner of the Limited edition version of Classic Dr Who’s 21st season.

Frankly?

I’m looking forward to watching the special features: the Behind the Sofa extras are usually fun.

Especially when Janet Fielding’s involved!

~≈🇦🇺≈~

I’m also the owner of a couple of other things.

A couple of cables, to replace the worn one that connects my webcam to my computer.

And a couple of back-up remote controls.

I don’t know about you, but having extras is good.

It’s also good, having had a haircut: courtesy of my local barbers.

I was getting a touch shaggy: and, with spring and summer, coming?

Felt getting a trim, while I had the money, would be a good idea.

~≈💈≈~

As a last thought … ?

My nephew, Jude, was over, last night.

And yes: there’s another new video up.

He’s getting the hang of Final Cut … …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd March 2025.

22nd March, 2025.

Hmmm …

I don’t often repost random bits of news … but it seems Oleg Gordievsky has died at the age of 86.

You’ve never heard of him, have you … ?

I hadn’t either: until a few years ago.

When anyone mentions Soviet defectors, you can ignore the likes of Baryshnikov, or Comăneci.

They were, respectively, a dancer and a gymnast.

Gordievsky was a defecting KGB officer.

And — going by the information he’s said to have brought with him? — prevented a war.

That’s a bit more impressive than doing a plié … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd April, 2024.

22nd April, 2024.

Right … Monday mornings …

Which means an old song is earworming its way through my head …

But you’d possibly guessed that.

You’ve also possibly guessed I’m off to my weight management class, again.

I hate having to go up that hill.

But … ?

At least it’s exercise.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2024 — World Water Day.

22nd March, 2024: World Water Day.

Right then … it’s officially Friday.

Pay day, in other words.

And … ?

Brentwood Council are useless!

I’m due to start paying my council tax, today.

On previous years bills?

There’s been a bar code: that the shop you pay the bill at, scans to send the money to the right place.

This year’s bills?   Sent to me on line?

Has a section — at the bottom of the bill — that says “Scan for Payment”.

And no bar-code.

How I’m supposed to pay that … ?

I don’t know.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2023 — Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber

22nd March, 2023: Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Right … it’s officially Wednesday!

Yay!

Which means … ?

Well, I’ve got to book up a blood test, get some exercise … and pick up some meds.

Oh, and show you Jude’s latest video.

Apparently, that bottle of Prime cost about £8.

A hell of a lot less than this bottle, in other words!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd March, 2022

22nd March, 2022.

Right … it’s now, officially, Tuesday.

Which means I have a meeting with my Job Centre case worker*.

Given the extra benefits I’ve applied for … ?

I’ve got a question or two for her.

Here’s hoping I can gets some answers.

~≈©≈~

Oh, so you know … ?

My nephew, Jude, has done another video.

An hour’s long one!

Oy!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2021: The Shat!

22nd March, 2021.

It’s officially official: I’ve had an email!

And not just any old email, no!

One reminding me that I’d not paid my Car tax!

I’ve obviously been very lax.

It’s a scam, of course.

How do I know?

The email address it was from — qwspdsqymm@telenet.be — looked seriously fake.   UK Government ones will come from .gov.uk.

And the UK body that you pay the tax too is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, not the spurious ‘Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.’

What’s more?   It’s not a car tax.   It’s Vehicle Excise Duty*.

The website it took me to … ?

Looked like the UK government’s one.

But again, had a spurious address.

The big clue, though?

The one that told me I’d been targeted by a bunch of chancers, sending out mass emails to try tricking people into handing out money … ?

Is simply this.

I don’t have a car to tax.

I don’t drive.

Star Trek Picard — Series 1 Episode 3 — The End Is the Beginning — A Review

22nd March, 2020.

Yes!

And a very exultant ‘yes,’ that is, too.

I’ve possibly mentioned I have a refurbished laptop: running a version of Ubuntu Mate.

Something I’d originally been planning to use to hunt for jobs with: in Brentwood Library.

Oh, and explore a different operating system with.

I’v officially found a free screen recorder I can use with the thing: called — appropriately enough — SimpleScreenRecorder.

I managed to record the playback of a recent game of Battle for Wesnoth with it.

OK, that sort of turn based RPG isn’t going to be everyones cup of tea: neither is installing a screen recorder.

But hey … I’m happy.

~≈¥≈~

Or, at least, feeling cheerful … ish …

Cheerful enough to catch an episode of my current favourite TV show.

Oh, boy!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2020: Sunday in the Park

22nd March, 2020.

It’s officially official: the world’s a mess.

Or, at least, my hair is.

I think I need a haircut.

We’ll have to see how the budget — and the coronavirus — goes, this month.

~≈∑≈~

One thing I do know … ?

Is that I had dinner, last night.

Complete with some sweet potatoes, rather than regular potatoes: they’re better for those of us with diabetes, I’m told.

I have a burger, with peas, and — instead of all potatoes — a mix of regular and sweet potatoes.

That went well: the ‘replacements’ were definitely sweeter but cooked just as well.

I’ll tell you one thing, though.

Sweet potatoes — at least, these ones — weren’t half difficult to chop up.

If you have a spare chainsaw, I’d appreciate it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2019: World Water Day

22nd March, 2019.

Right …

Today is going to be something of a long day: shopping, the Citizen’s Advise Bureau, a hospital appointment …

Not a serious one, I should add: just a blood test to track my underachieve thyroid.

It’s not a day I want to fanny around: excuse the language.

But therefore …

It’s exactly the day Google’s photo uploader decides to act up.

Technology is a wonderful thing.

Until it goes ka-bluey … … !

~≈§≈~

Oh, by the way …

If you’re in the UK, you’re possibly aware of the petition: the one that calls on Parliament.

You can find it, here.

It’s hopeless: the thing closes in August, well after any of the leaving days.

But, frankly?

I’ve signed: as have many others.

In part, to raise the issue.

Hey ho …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd March, 2018

22rd March, 2018.

It’s true …

I seriously want to go back to bed.

But that’s possibly something I’ll have to doing later.

Despite what I may want … ?

Frankly, and if nothing else?

I’m under general doctor’s orders to get my harry rear out of the house: and try and get some exercise.

Not that I go far … but on the upside … ?   I get exercise, AND out of the house … !

Stranger Things: Episodes 4, 5 and 6 — Chapter Four: The Body, Chapter Five:The Flea and The Acrobat and Chapter Six: The Monster.

22nd March, 2017.

How are you with time off?

Or days off, at any rate?

I’m betting, like me, you like a little housework done.   And, even as I say that, I can hear my family laughing!

But, like me, you probably do stuff around the house: and stuff you have to catch up on.

I do (not a lot of) cleaning, housework, laundry, make videos, what have you.

I ALSO like to catch some TV: or maybe a movie.

I’ve a copy of Arrival, sitting around, somewhere: and half thought of watching it.

But … ?   Today say Westminster attacked: by, apparently, a lone wolf, inspired by international terrorism.

That left me … frankly in a mood for the comparatively light escapism of the TV show I’m watching: Stranger Things.

And yes: Stranger Things is a welcome relief, given the dreadful news …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-3-2017

Right …

That’s the spare monitor sold off.

As you’ve possibly realised, I’ve had trouble with the second screen I’d been using.

Which turns out to work well with a different computer!

I’m starting to think the problem is the video card on my second hand Mac: which has affected a previous (refurbished) screen.

I’m ok with that, actually.   Whilst the video card would be pricey?   Picking up another, refurbished monitor would be cheap enough.

In fact, I’ve spotted one on Amazon.

It’s all good!

~≈‡≈~

Actually?

And on an ever gooder front?

Work seems to be going well.

To the point where, over the past couple of nights, I’ve been buddying up.

In other words, I’ve had a newcomer sat beside me and listening into my calls: so they learn how not to do it, I’m assuming!

Either way?

I’m pleased to get the responsibility.
