Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th June 2025

25th June, 2026.

Yes: I’ve finally had a haircut!

Yesterday, in point of fact: and not at my usual barbers, as he’s on holiday.

No, I went up Warley Hill, instead of down: and ended up paying a couple of pounds more.

Still … I’m feeling a touch cooler, a touch less shaggy.

Heigh … ho!

I have to admit, I’ve only just read this piece, from the Radio Times: a piece that tells us the show runners from Dr Who, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds were in negotiations to do at least one crossover episode.

Something I know I would dearly love to have seen.

And something I suspect others would, too.

I can just imagine such a thing.

Ncuti’s 15th Doctor winding up on the bridge of the Enterprise, and making a pithy comment*: made worse if he’s got Donna Noble† with him!

Or Captain Pike and Dr M’Benga appearing in the console room … after the inevitable Transporter malfunction.

At any rate … ?

It’s something that’s come to nothing: which is a great shame.

A crossover episode could well have been fun!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th June 2025

25th June, 2025.

Right: I’m up early!

Yes: it’s Wednesday … and I have another hygienists appointment!

Whoopie … dingo … !

I managed to catch some online news, recently: courtesy of the Tech Linked YouTube channel.

It seems that users of Microsoft Windows are having trouble installing Google Chrome.

Installing the browser is being blocked by the parental controls in Windows 11: forcing users to jump through hoops to install the thing.

Now, I’m not a fan of Chrome: I’ve always found it less responsive — on the various Macs I’ve owned — than Firefox or Safari.

I’ve also felt Chrome uses the old Embrace, extend, and extinguish* policy too well for my comfort.

So I’m not impressed by Chrome: but don’t think my dislike means you shouldn’t use it.

It’s your browser, and your choice.

I’m also aware that Google and Microsoft are business rivals.

So … ?

I’m not surprised Microsoft is trying a low blow.

I have to admit to liking slogan t-shirts.

Or, at least, ones with pictures on them: 2000AD, or Terry Pratchett themed ones, are favourites.

So, for my next one … ?

I’m thinking a Traveller or Runequest one could be good: if I can find a good enough picture!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-6-2024 — Croatia.

25th June, 2024: Croatia.

Right, then: Tuesdays!

You’d not think they’d be busy: would you … ?

Well … it’s not …

Except, of course, today?

I’m expecting a phone appointment with my GP.

They’re a little concerned: as, the last time I had my blood pressure checked, it was a touch on the low side.

Hopefully?

We’ll be able to do something about that, that won’t involve stockings!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-6-2022 — Slovenia

25th June, 2022.

It’s 8-30 on a Saturday morning.

And, as I say in today’s intro video … ?

That means there’s going to be a Saturday night at some point.

Mine?

Is going to be spent writing about the first episode of Star Trek Picard, series two.

It’s looking good.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-6-2021: The Virginian

25th June, 2021.

Just as a quick question … ?

I’ve just noticed a news item.

You’ll be aware that shots were fired at a Royal Navy ship, patrolling in Ukrainian waters, off the coast of Crimea, a day or two ago.

The patrol’s been defended by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Apparently?   The Navy was ‘defending our values’ in the area.

I’d like to know what values they were … !

At any rate … ?

I’ve had the new washing Machine delivered and installed.

It’s just finished a load of teatowels, by the sound of things.

Mackfields* — the local business that I bought it from, and who did the installation — did an amazingly quick, and thorough, job.

Even managing to adjust the feet on the thing: to enable it to stay stable, whilst working.

Something I think contributed to the tragic death of the last machine.

Either way?   I’m grateful: both to them, and to My Mum, who helped pay for the thing.

~≈🧺≈~

Which could prove to be an issue with my spectacles.

An arm came off, yesterday: while I was shopping.

They’re still under warranty: that should cover the cost of repair.

Hopefully … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-6-2020: Gaudí

25th June, 2020

Yep: it looks like there’s lots of stuff going on, on the 4th of July.

Here in the UK, anyway.

There’s possibly a lot that’s going to be opening: including the library, I hope!

I’m looking forward to that!

At any rate … ?

The other thing we’re told will be opening?

Will be hairdressers and barbers.

I don’t know about you, but I need a hair cut!

~≈†≈~

Just as a thought … ?

I don’t know if you’ve been following my digital poverty articles: but I published the last in the current series, last night.

Part four, in other words.

If you’d like to read it, comment, feel free.

More importantly?   If you know anyone that can help, flag them up for me.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th June, 2019.

25th June, 2019.

I have to say, right now … ?

It’s raining …

And that matches my mood, perfectly: given the recent deaths in the family.

What can I tell you?

Except that funeral plans for my aunty seem … scant: even though they are pretty much what she wanted.

Closure …

That’s a tricky one, here, I think.
