Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2026 — Tintin (Ten Questions)

10th January, 2026: Tintin.

I think that — right now? — I can safely say this: right now, it isn’t raining.

But it, according to the BBC’s weather site, -3°C.

Accounting for the wind chill factor, that is.

It’s going to be nippy, out … !
~≈🥶≈~

The BBC news is full of it.

News: before you comment!

The site’s telling us that there are riots happening in Iran, that the country’s leadership are blaming the US,  that everything’s happening, all at once.

Including Reza Pahlevi making comments: calling for Iranians to head for the streets, comments that coma as some demonstrators are calling for the return of the Shah of Iran.

The last Shah?

Was overthrown by Ayatollah Khomeini, back in 1979.

Khomeini’s regime?   Is the one that’s currently in charge of the country, the one that’s seeing protestors on the streets.

And the one that’s getting complaints from Reza Pahlevi.

He, if you didn’t know … ?

Is the current, exiled, Crown Prince of Iran.

And — depending on which side you take — is either encouraging protestors to call for reform to Iran’s government.

Or is egging protestors on.

Either way?

It sounds very similar to the events that put Khomeini, an exiled Iranian leader, an exiled Iranian leader egging protestors who was egging protestors on, back in 1979.

There’s that old saying: that what goes around, comes around.

That seems very applicable: if these protests turn into another Iranian revolution, it would only show us why they call them revolutions
“Don’t put your trust in revolutions. They always come around again.”
Night Watch, Terry Pratchett.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th January 2025.

10th January, 2025.

Yay!

It’s Friday … !

Which means … ?

Hopefully, my nephew, Jude, will be over.

And hopefully … ?

I’ll be catching the next episode of Silo: the show’s rather good.

~≈⚔️≈~

Oh … JUST as a last thought … ?

I’ve had a new bit of kit arrive for my Mac: a Verbatim 43888, a 4k bluray reading optical drive, one that works with specific bits of ripping software.

Hopefully?

That’ll be useful.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th January 2024.

10th January, 2024.

Right …

I think I can safely say my nephew, Jude, was here, yesterday.

You can tell.

Firstly?

There’s another video added to his channel!

And … ?

There’s another on mine!

If you’d like to hit the Like button on those … ?

We’d appreciate it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th January 2023.

10th January, 2023.

OK: last night … ?

I was due an engineer: to re-attach the thermostat back to my wall.

The problem?

When he turned up, the chap had no ID: nor was he wearing the right company uniform.

Frankly?   I didn’t feel comfortable letting him in.

Which he was OK about.

So he said someone would retry, tomorrow: with the correct details.

But that I should contact the contractors, to be on the safe side.

Phone calls, it is, then.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2022: Wexler

10th January, 2022.

Right then … it’s officially a Monday: and the start of a new week.

And … ?   One where I still have to pick up some paperwork from my surgery.

I didn’t do it on Saturday … because it was raining.

That’s always off-putting, isn’t it … ?

~≈Ê≈~

So are earworms, actually.

This morning?

I’ve got a clip from Twin Peaks going through my head.

Quite why Ray Wise was singing … ?

I’ll never know!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th January, 2021.

10th January, 2021.

You know …

I think we can say it’s cold out!

I know: I’ve just had a look: both outside … and at the BBC’s Weather page.

Quite what they mean by ‘a gentle Breeze,’ though?

I really don’t know.

Get out onto Saint James Road, most days, and you get a wind tunnel.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2020: The League of Nations

10th January, 2020.

Hmmm …

OK, YouTube seem to be playing Silly Buggers.

Usually?

There’s an Edit button on a video you upload: that lets you … um … edit information about that video.

The sooner that’s cleared up, the happier I’ll be.

~≈¥≈~

At ANY rate … ?

It’s a busy — ish — Friday.

I’ve got to go to the Jobcentre, today: to arrange for the ticket money for Monday’s interview.

AND have the first of in a series of weight management classes.

Although I have to say, that looks a LOT further away from home than I’m comfortable with.

Hmmm …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2019: Hail Caesar!

10th January, 2019.

I swear, however much caffeine I tip down my neck … ?

I’l never get the hang of late night video assembling, after a long day in central London … !

Yes: you’re right.

I had the interview, yesterday!

In London, I should add!

Frankly?

I’m just glad an old friend decided to totter along with me.

Frankly, it made finding the please easier …

And getting home a lot more interesting.

Even if we got off the train at Caledonian Road, instead of Holborn, on the way home!

~≈§≈~

In OTHER news … ?

It seems scientists at a Canadian observatory have found fast radio bursts coming from deep space.

They believe … well, lots of things.

But many, we’re told, believe the bursts are from some form of rotating stellar object: like a neutron star.

Some … ?

Think it’s possibly from an alien space ship.

It’d be exciting, if it was the latter.

Given the distance?   The crew of the spaceship would’ve died out a long time ago.

But it would be exciting, non-the-less.

Even then, I can’t help but think of the words of Steve Martin, in one of his Saturday Night Live sketches, back in the day.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2018: Bowie

Hmmm …

I’ve just double checked to see if there’s any updates for my system: something I’ve had half an eye on for the past few days, in the light of the fuss over the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.

I know Apple have issued patches for them, for High SierraSierra and El Capitan: but not, seemingly, for older versions of the operating system, like mine.

We’re told these vulnerabilities are hard to export in the wild.

And I can understand Apple wanting to encourage people to buy newer machines, with newer versions of macOS.

But, even so, that’s a little worrying*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-1-2016

Just in case you’re reading me, here, but not following on Twitter?

You’ll possibly know I’ve had router trouble.

I finally managed to send the old HomeHub3 back, yesterday: having found a large enough box to put it — and the modem it needed to interact with my fibre optic connection — in.

You’ll possibly realise I managed to trudge up to Brentwood High Street, yesterday: print out the relevant label, tape it to the box, and cart box, label and carcass, over to the post office.

I did shopping.   I wandered around, window shopping.

I wondered home.

And, in a bureaucratically skewed move worthy of Brazil and Paranoia …

Found BT had sent me a second new router …

Oy …

Veh …
