2nd November, 2025: Road Runner.

Right … it’s officially official: my nephew was over last night.

Fun was officially had, kebabs — and chicken nuggets — were eaten.

And yes … another video was made.

Something odd happened, actually: when Jude was getting dropped off.

We had at least two Amazon vans dropping off deliveries, at the time Jude arrived.

A white one parked over the road: which I knew was an Amazon delivery, as it had the rear doors open, and a rear section filled with Amazon packages.

And a grey van, with Amazon livery, parked next door.

I was assuming one of them had packages for me: I’d ordered a few Christmas presents that Amazon told me would be delivered, yesterday.

Nope.

The deliveries have been rescheduled for today.

What happened?

Beyond what looked like an intense discussion between one of the drivers and the neighbours, or between both drivers?

I don’t know.

But … ?

I have to ask why on Earth my delivery got rescheduled for today, when it could have been on one of the vans parked here yesterday … 

And … ?

Yes: you bet I emailed Jeff Bezos … !

Right, then: it’s officially Saturday.

And it’s one that’s going to be quiet: bar making a few videos.

Which — hopefully — will be in 4k.

That’s amazing to me: that an older model Mac mini can make videos in that kind of resolution.

Especially when the first Mini I got couldn’t handle the flame animations in Keynote!

Technology … !

Right … I now have new spectacles.

Or, at least, new computer spectacles: ones I use working at my computer.

Not that you’d notice.

They’re pretty much the same frames as the last ones.

Yes: as the workmen putting up scaffold over the road gently clang about?

I know for a fact I know where my trousers are.

Despite all the noise.

The reason for the (mild) trouser concern?

I’ve got another meeting at Restart: over in Chelmsford.

Well, I say meeting … it’s actually a job fair.

I get to met a lot of potential employers in one place.

It’s a handy thing to do.   And wearing trouser will possibly be appreciated …

The interview, yesterday, went well enough: I should find out on Friday, whether I’ve got it.

I’m … 

Well …

It would be nice to have a job that’s incredibly local.

I can only hope the two meetings I’ve got go as well: I’ve one with my physio-therapist, and another with my Job Centre case worker.

We’ll have to see.

Right … 

I’ve got a meeting, today: by phone.

With my case worker from the Shaw Trust, the people who run the Work and Health programme I’m on.

Which is all good.

Quite what will happen with them, under the upcoming lockdown?

I don’t know.

Which sort of brings me to another point.

As you may or may not know, England is to enter a second Lockdown on Thursday.

One aspect?   Is that non-essential retail premises are to close.

Does that include libraries?

I don’t know.

I’m assuming it will, though.

That’s going to be tough on those of us who rely on them for ’Net access.

As I’ve said, so many times before: those of us who can’t afford an at home connection rely on the library to get online.

To access services, to job hunt, to pay rent.

If we can’t access the library, where do we go?

Right … I mentioned getting an interview lined up, yesterday.

Strictly, it had been offered to me: all that was need was getting the time and venue confirmed.

That’s now been done.

It’s Monday, at twelve, in Brentwood High Street.

I’m hoping it goes well.

But … well, we’ll have to see …

In other news?

You’re possibly aware of the boiler situation: my ageing boiler needs either repairing or replacing, as it’s not exactly heating water, very well.

I got advised by the visiting engineer that phoning my landlords, yesterday, would be a good idea: they’d’ve received his report, and would be able to discuss any decisions needed.

So … ?   I phoned them.

As I’ve already Tweeted to Anne, Debbi and Olga, my landlord’s phone system are down for maintenance until Tuesday.

Yep: Apple have finally and released an updated Mac mini.

At bloody last!   And WAY too long after my birthday for my comfort!

It’s rather good: bar the solid state drive size — 128 gigabytes on the baseline model — and an a slightly more powerful video card?

An it looks like you can rev up the RAM, yourself: although I could be wrong*.

It’s actually a better specced machine than my 2017 iMac!

I might just start saving up … !

Oh, right … 

That was the initial appointment … 

I have to confess, I had a dentist’s appointment, yesterday: on the way to getting a tooth extracted.

The tooth’s still there: but I have to head back, to get the thing extracted.

The appointment, next week?   Lasts an hour.

That’s when the pliers come out, I think.

The fact that, in all this?

I managed to catch more episodes of Freak Show, last night?

Is practically incidental.

Saying that?   The younger members of the ensemble are doing their usual good jobs in their respective roles, Michael Chiklis† is surprising us with his choice of jobs, Finn Wittrock is slowing turning into Norman Bates …  

But, as ever, it’s Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Jessica Lange that steal the show …
