Yay!

He says!

I was at my weight management meeting, yesterday: and I’ve officially lost weight.

Two hundred gram, roughly half a pound.

So, at yesterday’s meeting, I was down to one hundred kilos, roughly fifteen — 15.75 — stone.

Which is an alarming number, when. you see it in imperial measures and remember what I weighed in my late twenties.

But it’s a lot better than it was, only four years ago.

So that’s something.

Oh, did I mention I’ve been sneakily watching season two of Wednesday?

Billie Piper’s in it, in case you were wondering: playing a recovering pop star who’s now a music teacher.

Which is why I mention it.

It turns out Piper’s not the only singer-turned-actress to turn up in the show.

Nope: last night’s episode saw Lady Gaga turning up as a ghost!

She gets everywhere!

Right … it’s officially Monday.

And I’m up early.

Yes: I’m off to this week’s weight management meeting: in the desperate hope I’ve lost weight.

You’re possibly aware I’m a bit of a Mac fan.

So … ?

You’re possibly aware of the song-and-dance Apple are making: about today’s big Apple event.

The company’s expected to release details of it’s new models of iPhone: along with updated versions of its operating systems.

But … ?

There’s also rumours that the company will be releasing a new version of its successful Mac mini line of computers.

Personally?

I’d be interested in seeing those: and in how they’ve both increased the spec: and redesigned the case.

Just as a last thought … ?

I managed to catch the first episode of Babylon 5, last night: as I’d never actually seen it.

Granted, this first episode seems very American, very soap opera and — with the monologue in the opening titles — owes a nod to Star Trek.

And Commander Sinclair seems to be exactly the kind of authority figure Terry Pratchett was parodying in Sam Vimes.

But … ?

It looks like it’s worth watching: even if my first thought was that it’s Star Trek, done by Republicans!

From what I learnt at my weight management class, this week, I’ve gained weight: but still, the trend is downwards.

It would be nice to lose some, next week.

And, frankly?

Radio Four’s spent a lot of the morning telling us to expect a thunderstorm.

Of course, checking the BBC’s weather page for my area … ?

I find we’re going to be boiling for most of the day … 

And that we won’t — potentially! — get a storm until Tuesday.

It’s got to be said: it’s been coming a while.

Yesterday?

Saw the death of Queen Elizabeth 2nd.

I’m not especially republican, nor a rampant monarchist.

But — as many of us do — feel saddened*.

After all, the woman was on the throne since 1952: was a psychological anchor point for the UK — and fifteen other nations — for seven decades.

The world changes: and, even if it is only the face on stamps and coins changing?   Or the words of an anthem?

That’s not necessarily a comfortable thing.

Just as a thought … ?

I’ve seen many questions on Quora — since Wednesday, in point of fact — asking about the Queen.

Many?   Coming from what I assume aren’t monarchies: asking who takes over from her.

Which always amazes me, having grown up in one of the best knowns monarchies on the planet.

I’m someone who knows perfectly well that Charles, the former Prince of Wales, is now king: and took over the minute his mother died.

He’s taken the name Charles 3rd: just in case you’re asking.

The Queen?   Is dead.

Long live the King†º.

Life goes on.

Which means I have to be out of the flat by 12:30.

I really do have to get to the meeting with my work coach on time.

I’m tired as a result of finishing my review of Sundown: the first episode of series one of Lovecraft Country.

I think I’ve done some good work.

And have been for years.

I’ve been keeping an eye peeled for stuff about the upcoming Denis Villenueve film for some time.

You can tell the movie industry’s addicted to hype: when the trailer that’s due out today … has a trailer …

Right, it’s a Monday, off.

And one that’s shaping up to be quiet.

And, right now?

Right now, I’m thinking I maybe need to see something interesting on TV.

Except, of course, I’m very aware that Mr Robot, The Man in the High Castle and Dr Who, aren’t going to start for a while, yet.

That’s mildly frustrating … 

And means I’ll have to see what I can dig up in the meantime …

NASA’s planned James Webb Telescope could find signs of extraterrestrial life.

How, I’m blowed if I could tell you.

But it’s something to keep an eye on.

Did we tell you Sandi Tokvig happy?   As she earn’s — in her own words — a ‘comfortable living.’

She said that in a response to a question at the Women’s Equality Party conference, a few days ago.

Seemingly, she gets some two fifths (2/5) — forty percent (40%) — of the pay of predecessor, Stephen Fry.

Personally?

I know she’s generally happy about her income.

But I’m mildly put out.

I’m a Dr Who fan: one hoping Jodie Whittaker’s on the same, comparative, pay as Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi.

She’s doing the same job, after all.

Sandy’s doing Stephen Fry’s old job: visibly, and very capably.

She should be getting exactly the same pay.

Ye Gods, I’m tired.

Tired … 

And mildly headachy.

Which will pass, I think.

I can, though, explain — or possibly blame — how I’m feeling.

It’s the trains, of all things!

Last night’s trip home — and thus the time I got to bed — was delayed.

By over-running freight-trains.

I wouldn’t mind so much … 

Except, of course, that I’m working, today.

Which means some sort of functional comes in handy, when you’re working …

Personally?

I’m looking forward to next weekend.

I’ve actually got the weekend off!

And headed over to Romford: to try and place various CVs in various places.

I think I got that done.

I ALSO bumped into an old friend: in a mood to treat an old friend she knew needed cheering up.

Hmmm … It’s … what … day 6 of job-hunting … 

Remember, yesterday, that I had my initial New Claims interview: at ten thirty, at Brentwood Job Centre?

Frankly?   I was there, on time, and ready to rock and roll.

But told … that the various bits of paperwork I had were insufficient: and that, as a result of not having a passport of photographic drivers license, I needed half a ton more than I actually had.

Which means adding an EXTRA appointment to the mix: I have to go back to the Job Centre on Monday … with the relevant paperwork.

Oy … veh …

At any rate … ?

I think today is the last bit of pay I’ll be getting from KFC.

At least, as far as I can tell: there may be one more, if I have it right, but I very much doubt it.

At any rate?

At ANY rate, my plan for today is to pay my bills … 

And, if possible?   Head into Romford to hand out my CV.

Something I’ve been doing all week: and may — hopefully — lead to a job.

I doubt it … but can only try …
