Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th January 2025

9th January, 2025.

You know … it’s Thursday!

And … ?

I’ve honestly got nothing planned.

Well … bar picking up a loaf and some fruit!

And missing Star Trek Lower Decks.

The fact the show’s over does leave a gap in a Thursday night!

~≈🖖≈~

I do, however, know I’ve been watching Skeleton Crew: the most recent Disney+ Star Wars series.

Yes, I know it’s aimed at kids.

But it’s fun, has pirates … and, after reaching episode seven, last night?

I still don’t know if the Jude Law character is a goody or a baddie*!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2024 — The Avro Lancaster

9th January, 2024: the Avro Lancaster.

You know, I was going to tell you my nephew, Jude, was heading over, today.

Indeed, I just have.

I’ll tell you what, though: today’s Teaser video’s taken a devil of a time to upload!

Why?

I really couldn’t tell you!

JUST as an extra thought?

I’ve had minor issues with the new Mac mini.

Very minor: it wouldn’t connect to my mouse, when first switched on.

I have the Mini to my right: and the mouse — as ever — on the left, where I can use it.

It seems they’re to far apart to connect, on boot up and log-in: at least, not without a wait.

Putting the mouse on the right — temporarily — seems to solve that, and lets them connect.

But it’s not a problem I was expecting*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th January 2023.

9th January, 2023.

Right … it’s officially Monday.

And frankly?

I actually have no plans for today … bar listening to Just a Minute, later today.

Sue Perkins as host?

Is SUPERB!!!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2022: Connecticut

9th January, 2022.

Yes: I forgot to mention something.

I forgot to mention my neighbour, in number three.

He’d been there for some years: living there with his long term partner and their son.

Unfortunately?   They split up, about a year back: and she had moved in with her parents.

He, with his complex mental health needs?   Stayed with his parents.

It was and is a better option.

However?   He didn’t formally move out, until recently.

Indeed, a worker from out landlord was here on Thursday: to install a new lock.

I’m …

I’m sad to see him go: he was always pleasant enough.

Even I could see the effects his mental health condition was having.

But, whilst I’m sorry to see him go … ?

I’m very aware that his former flat is much needed: given the shortage of affordable homes.

Hopefully?

It’ll be refurbished quickly, and occupied soon.

I only hope we get someone reasonable.

We’ve had a few horror stories, around here … !

Star Trek Discovery — Series 3 Episode 10 — Terra Firma Pt 2 — A Review

9th January, 2021.

OK …

It’s …

As much as I’d say it’s late on a Saturday night?

It’s also possibly not.

It’s just gone 20:42.

Twenty to nine, if you want to put it that way.

Frankly?

I’m going to get an early night, I think.

I’m still reading Arthur Machen’s The White People and Other Weird Stories: and it’s getting to some of the interesting tales.

But … ?

I wanted to make sure I’d let you know one thing.

I’ve seen the tenth episode of Star Trek Discovery’s third series.

And wanted to get started on the post about it.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2021: The UnBaez’ed Truth!

9th January, 2021.

Well, OK …

I started with an earworm: from Burl Ives, if you must know.

Quite why, I don’t know: but the first time I heard it would have been in my childhood.

It’s occasionally getting interrupted by Elvis …

Give me another ten minutes … and something else will turn up.

For those of us that follow the news?

In the wake of Wednesday’s storming of Capitol Hill, and other State Capitol buildings, and Trump’s suspension from Facebook?

Mr Trump has ALSO been banned from Twitter.

And managed to get two posts removed from the official, presidential, account.

In the wake of clampdowns in 2020?

Many of Mr Trump’s supporters switched to Parler: the ‘free speech’ alternative to Twitter.

Again, yesterday: Google announced it was removing Parler from its Play Store.

With Apple adding that it was reviewing the app’s presence on the App Store.

Frankly?

I’d never thought I’d see politics getting this nasty.

Except, of course, I survived Brexit.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th January, 2020

9th January, 2020.

Have you ever had something of a New Year’s clear up?

I just have.

Having donated a hell of a lot of books that had been gathering dust to various local charity shops.

Some of the quiz books I had … ?   Well, I think I can say they’ve outlived their purpose.

I’ve either scanned them into my computer, long ago, or re-written whatever was in them long ago*.

Right now, though … ?

I now have more shelf space.

Which probably won’t last long …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th January, 2019.

9th January, 2019.

Yep: I officially forgot to put my alarm on …

On a day when I’ve got an interview in London.

As you can possibly imagine, that’s left me feeling just a touch … you know … rushed … !

At least I can say I’ve had a haircut …

And a little bit of time: given the interview’s at two!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2018: The Number Nine

Right …

It’s a Tuesday, today.

In case you hadn’t noticed.

Which means …

Well, possibly several things.

Anything that happens regularly, on a Tuesday, will happen today.

Anything that doesn’t happen regularly, on a Tuesday, won’t.

And, on a personal note?

I’m back at work!

While that’s nice — it means I get paid — it does mean one thing.

I’ve not got the time to sit down with another TV series*: until at LEAST the weekend!

Grrr … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9-1-2017

Hmmm …

I think we can say it’s Day Two of ownership of my new router.

And … ?

It’s not fallen over: yet.

Cynic that I am?   I’m wondering when that’s going to happen.

We’ll have to see, when I start locally streaming media: the old HomeHub3 were — in my experience — bad at that.

My only problem at the moment?

Is finding a cardboard box.

I’ve got an official label that let’s me send the old router back to BT.

Hmmmm …
