Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2026 — Leslie Nielsen

11th February, 2026: Leslie Nielsen.

Yes: that’s right.

Today’s introduction video, the one at the start of this post … ?

Is actually vaguely relevant.

I’ve got a cheap toaster on order, from Amazon.

One that cost me a tenner: including the delivery charges.

There’s a problem, though.

It’s something I’ve ordered from Amazon: did you honestly expect me not to have a problem?

At any rate … ?

YouGov sent me a survey, yesterday, which earned me fifty pound (£50): enough to buy a toaster, and have a little left to get some shopping.

So … ?

I order a cheap — seriously cheap — toaster: figuring I’d be able to replace the thing, easily, should I need to.

I order the thing, hit the relevant ‘Buy Now’ button, and get told it will be with me, by Friday, 20th February.

Then get an update, a little later: to tell me the toaster’s been ordered … and will arrive on Friday, 20th March.

Yes: Friday, 20th March.

I’m tempted to say “You couldn’t make it up”.

No, really: I’m sorely tempted to say “You couldn’t make it up”.

Except I’ve got the evidence it’s genuine, sitting right in front of me.

I’ve also got evidence of an annoyed email I’ve sent: to Jeff Bezos.

A thirty-eight day wait seems a bit ridiculous: and tells me I should go to Argos, next time*.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2024 — Lateran Treaty Day

11th February, 2025: Lateran Treaty Day.

I am sorely tempted, this morning.

To call the 47th US President a twat.

And that’s being polite: there’s a whole pile of British English terms I could be using.

But let’s cut to the chase: the President has announced that the ceasefire in Israel be cancelled, if the remaining Israeli hostages aren’t released by noon, on Saturday.

 In his words?

‘Let Hell break out.’

Poking his nose into his is going to make things worse.

There’s also the fact he’s announced Gazan Palestinians be re-homed in places like Egypt or Jordan.

They — appreciably — are not happy with the idea.

I’m not impressed with the man, either.

And would want to ask him one minor question.

If you’re going to insist on re-homing Gazans, on not letting Gazans live in Gaza?

If you’re going to do insist Gazans live elsewhere, why not let them live in the USA?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2024 — Super Bowl LVIII.

11th February, 2024: the Super Bowl.

Right …

I didn’t realise that, ’til I uploaded it!

Yeah … you’re wondering what I’m talking about, aren’t you … ?

I managed to upload today’s Teaser video … only to find out it lasted for thirty seconds!

I’m thankful for Time Machine!

I was able to recover the raw footage and photos, and do the quickest bit of editing I’ve ever done!

~≈Ω≈~

I hate to say it … but Donald Trump held a rally, last night.

At which he said he’d encourage Russia to “do whatever the hell they want” to NATO members who haven’t paid their bills.

The man is … a lot of things: most of them unflattering.

But … ?

I think this is ridiculous.

And that Trump is trying to start a protection racket!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2023 — UKSF.

11th February: UKSF.

Yay!

It’s Saturday!

He says.

Perfectly aware that he has nothing to do: bar job hunting … and finishing reviewing the last episode of The Crusade.

That’s going to take a while, I think: there’s possibly a lot to unpack!

Friday, 11 February 2022

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th February, 2022.

11th February, 2022.

It’s Friday.

And, in the words of the old advert?

I’ve got that Friday feeling.

You have to love an advertising slogan.

Especially when they’re meaningless.

~≈🤨≈~

Oh, it’s Friday.

Which — obviously —means it’s the day after Thursday.

Which means it’s the day after mu nephew, Jude, uploaded his most recent video.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th February, 2021.

11th February, 2021.

Yes: it’s officially official: it’s still cold out.

So, when I go out for a walk, later?

Frankly, I’ll be wearing a jumper.

~≈❄️≈~

I’ve some news.

I didn’t get the job that the Shaw Trust put me up for.

The references didn’t come back in time.

I’m … annoyed, to say the least.

Partly because of the references situations: I left updating contact details a little late.

On the other hand?

One reference was successfully contacted: their email and phone number were accurate.

I know I had to update the phone number of another reference: but that their email address was valid.

With the third, I had to update the email: but that their phone number was valid.

I’ll own that: I needed to — and did — update details: resending them, as needed.

One was successfully contacted.

The one with the valid email, but the wrong number?   May have been phoned … but certainly wasn’t emailed.

Why Shaw didn’t say so sooner?   Why the employer was in a really desperate rush*?   I don’t know.

But, as a result?   I’m still jobless.

And am not happy.

The Death of Stalin — A Review

11th February, 2020.

You know … the job hunting is really going badly.

Honestly.

I would’ve expected something to turn up, by now.

Unfortunately?

I’ve had not a blessed sausage.

Not even a vegetarian one!

It’s …

It’s depressing, to be honest.

I’m coping, I’m looking forward to eventually landing a job …

But, lord, it’s hard work!

~≈†≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve been able to keep myself occupied.

I don’t have much money: but do have a collection of movies, sitting around: ripped from the occasional DVD, and blu-ray.

And able to rent and streaming both the occasional TV show … and the occasional movie.

The latter is something I’ve done, tonight.

Yes: I’ve watched a movie that’s been in my collection for a while.

The 2017 film, The Death of Stalin.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2020: SFTV

11th February, 2020.

Yep: I officially need to clean my socks.

Strange: but true!

Frankly, you can tell the lack of a job’s getting to me.

When the most exciting thing I have to do … ?

Is laundry!

~≈†≈~

Well …

Apart from my bedtime reading.

Orwell’s The Lion and the Unicorn, since you ask.

Granted, I’m taking my time with it: the last time I mentioned it was at the end of January.

What caught my eye, last night?

Was simply Orwell’s description of government officials.

He said they had ‘prehensile bottoms.’

Well … it made me smile!

~≈†≈~

As another quick thought?   One that seems appropriate, given the theme of today’s Teaser.

Was simply the most recent episode of Dr Who, Can You Hear Me?

I mentioned one scene, in my review: where Ryan (Toisin Cole) and Yas (Mandip Gill) end up discussing their travels with the Doctor: whether they the going the right thing in staying.

Which got me wondering all sorts of things.   I wondered if — given how similar that scene seemed to others* — whether the pair would be staying on, beyond this season.

I didn’t make much of it: beyond publicly speculating when any pay off would come.

I’m not the only one wondering about that …

It’s seems the Daily Express has been thinking the same way.

We’ll have to see what happens, won’t we?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th February, 2018

11th February, 2018.

Hmm … It’s morning …

And?

As ever on a Sunday morning, I’ve got the radio on.

Radio 3*, if you must know.

Usually, I’ve got no problem Radio 4’s Sunday Service.

Except this morning’s seemed just a little bit too happy clappy.

It’s just a little bit too enthusiastic, first thing on a Sunday morning!

~≈§≈~

One thing I did catch, though?   Before I turned over?

Was the Radio 4 appeal, for this week: on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Speaking as both a Terry Pratchett fan, and as the grandson of someone lost to it?

It’s a VERY good cause.   If you wanted to make a donation, you can do via the Radio 4 donation page, here: or through the Alzheimer’s Society donation page, here.

Sir Terry Pratchett put it like this, once.

Demons need naming … in order for us to be able to fight them.

Unfortunately, they also need cash.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2017: Turning Japanese

Drat.

At least, I THINK it’s drat.

It’s cold, this morning.

You’ve possibly realised that, if you’re in south-east England.

Right now?

Right now, here in Brentwood?

It’s been making a desperate effort to show … !

I’m not worried.   I’m planning to run up and down Brentwood High Street, in a mankini.

Yeah …

You’re convinced, aren’t you … ?

~≈§≈~

Oh …

Did I ALSO tell you I’ve taken a punt?

A bet, in other words?

I’ve sent a Valentine’s Day card.

Frankly?

I’m fully expecting to get a slap in the face!

The Daily Teaser — 11-2-2016

You know, I have to confess, I do like listening to Radio Four’s Today programme, first thing in the morning.

Personally … ?

I’ve always thought breakfast time TV was a bit … distracting …

And frankly …

It’s got a bit more of a mix to it.

After all, they’s just done a piece about the US’s beloved show, Sesame Street, moving to HBO: the home of Game of Thrones.   Which does get you wondering exactly how many dragons the Count CAN count.

And they’ve moved pom to a brief interview with former Deputy PM, Nick Clegg, about the government’s draft Investigatory Powers bill.

And then moved on to the weather.

Like I say … always a good mix.
