Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2026 — Anyone for Dennis? (Ten questions)

17th May, 2026: Dennis Potter.

It’s officially the case that a man in need of a game controller … has to buy a new one …

Yes: that’s right … I have a new toy: a new game controller, now happily paired with my AppleTV 4k.

Just so you know?

It’s what’s called a DualSense™Wireless Controller: and something originally designed for the PlayStation 5.

Which caught may nephew’s eyes: he has one of the console’s, himself, and was able to offer advise one button configurations.

Well played, him!

I also have to say “Well Played, Apple”: as I ordered it from them.

They originally told me the thing would be with me, by Saturday, 16th May..

Although the Royal Mail — the people doing the actual delivery — told me it would be with me by this coming Monday, 18th May.

As it turned out?

It turned up yesterday.

And got connected, pretty much immediately, and saw me playing Sonic the Hedgehog.

Exciting, eh … ?

~≈🦔≈~

Actually, now I’ve mentioned Jude?

Yes: he was here, yesterday.

And yes: he’s posted another video: feel free to hit the ‘Like’ button!

~≈⚽️≈~

Just as a last thing … ?

I’ve had today’s edition of Radio Four’s Sunday on, this morning.

It’s a fascinating listen, as ever: and discussing the religious beliefs of various politicians.

Including the three, potential, Labour leader candidates.

Andy Burnham, it seems, is a non-practising Catholic.

Angela Rayner, it seems, is an atheist.

And the third contender, Wes Streeting?

Is a practising Anglican.

Granted: the man would be the first openly gay Prime Minister, if he became PM.

But, to me?

That’s less of an issue for me, than the fact the man is a practising Anglican.

I’d prefer my politicians to be uninfluenced by their faith: to not be openly religious.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th May 2025.

17th May, 2025.

It’s officially not Friday: but Saturday.

And … ?

The day after my nephew’s visited: and uploaded a new video.

Feel free to hit the ‘Like’ button … !

~≈🎮≈~

You’re probably aware it’s Saturday: Saturday, 17th May.

And therefore the day of the FA cup final, night of the Eurovision finals … and the day that “The Interstellar Song”, the next episode of Dr Who is due to be broadcast.

Assuming the terrestrial broadcast isn’t cancelled, or shifted to BBC 2, as a result of the football running into extra time.

I always hated that, as a kid.

These days, at least … ?

I can watch the thing on the iPlayer catch-up service.

But that’s going to be frustrating for UK-based Dr Who fans who aren’t online!

~≈♩≈~

As a last point … ?

I am very aware Ncuti Gatwa, the Fifteenth Doctor, himself, was due to announce the Jury votes in tonight’s song contest.

But has had to pull out: due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

I’d love to know why: I’m nosy, after all.

But … ?

I’m very aware it’s none of my business: so I’ll never find out.

Heigh-ho.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th May, 2024.

17th May, 2024.

It’s officially Friday.

And … ?

I’ve had mail.

A couple of months ago, I put in for help with my council tax.

And was asked to hand over a couple of months bank statements: and the relevant Universal Credit records.

Which I duly handed in, by April.

The letter I received, yesterday?

Was a request to submit the same information … again!

I spent a lot of time on the phone, yesterday: asking why on Earth I’d been asked to re-submit information the Council already had …

Only to be told I’d get a phone call, about it, today.

Personally?

I think the fact a lot of these services are split between Brentwood Council, and Basildon Council … ?

Really doesn’t help!

The only bit of good news in all this … ?

Is the fact I’ve had to double check on when my PIP tribunal will happen: it’s 15:00, on 20th June.

I’m expecting the letter soon: a letter that, hopefully, will confirm it’s by phone.

Here’s hoping!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2023 — Watergate.

17th May, 2023: Watergate.

Hmmm …

Stuff — general stuff of a stuff like nature? — may well be occurring, today!

But … ?

One bit of stuff that DID happen … ?

Was having to re-do a playlist on YouTube.

It looks like they’re playing Silly Buggers, again … !

~≈®≈~

About the one bit of good news I’ve seen, though?

For the past few months, Britain’s bus fares — the ones outside London — have been capped at two pound.

The scheme was due to end in June.

Except … ?

The Government’s announced they’re extending the scheme until October: when they’re planning to put the price up to £2·50p.

That will be bloody handy!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2022: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

17th May, 2022.

Ladies and gentleman, I had a dream … !

Last night, in fact.

I dreamt someone — that vaguely looked like Mitch Pileggi with a moustache — tried getting into my flat … only to be seen off by a panicking Dream Me … repeatedly threatening him with a hammer … and screaming …

One?

I don’t know what that was all about.

Two?

I hope I didn’t wake the neighbours up!

~≈¥≈~

Just so you know?

My nephew, Jude, has made a reaction video with his friend, Jaskaran.

Would you mind hitting Like?

If he Jude and Jas get twenty like on that video, they react to a Lama Spitting video … !

The mind boggles.

~≈¥≈~

Oh, and just as a last thing?

We know Russell T. Davies has a thing about the name Rose.

As actress, Yasmin Finney has been cast as a character called Rose for the upcoming 60th Anniversary episode.

I look forward to seeing how she does: and why her character’s called Rose …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th May, 2021

17th May, 2021.

Yes: it’s true.

I’ve a Zoom interview pencilled in for this afternoon: for a company that sells air purifiers.

Whether that’ll go ahead, I still don’t know: as I’ve not heard back.

Hopefully?

Well, we’ll have to see.

~≈†≈~

At any rate … ?

The only other thing I have to worry about?

Is what to have for dinner.

The BIG decision?

Spaghetti … ?

Or a burger … ?

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels — Series 1 Episode 4 — Josefina and the Holy Spirit — A Review

17th May, 2020.

It’s got to be said, it’s Sunday night: and I think I’m getting into something of a habit.

Earlier this year?

I managed to the twelfth series of Dr Who: that pile of reviews is on YouTube, if you’re interested.

And, with Sunday night’s free, at the moment … ?

I’m catching up with more TV!

Whilst listening to Revolution 9 …

And listening to Cabaret Voltaire’s Chance Versus Causality.

Which are both amazing … but not necessarily amazing as what I’ve been watching on TV.

Yes: I’ve caught another episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels first series.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2020: Norwegian Would …

17th May, 2020.

This is possibly going to a strange thing to say … but I’m an ex smoker.

Which you possibly knew, if you’ve been following me for a while.

It’s something I gave up, around the time my nephew was born.

There’s all sorts of health implications, there: good and bad.

And all sorts of other implications …

Not least of which?   Well, I used to roll my own cigarettes: it was cheaper.

And, for the past few years?

I’ve missed having something to do with my hands.

That Pyraminx*?

Lets me fiddle about in a way that’s not going to knacker my already damaged lungs.

And, lord, I’m glad I got it.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2018: Aussie Rules, Again … !

17th May, 2018.

Yep, I’m an official silly juggins.

I’ve eventually found my gas card, tucked into a different part of my wallet: a different part to where I usually put it.

Would you mind kicking me?

I’m going to miss.

~≈§≈~

Just as a fun thing to mention, before I move on?

Remember the internet dress: the on that was either black and blue, or white and gold?

There’s a new, similar, meme doing the rounds.

Yep: an audio one.   People are working out if a any audio clip says ‘yanny’ or ‘laurel.’

Personally, I’m hearing ‘yanny.’

Lord knows what that’s about … !

~≈§≈~

As a final thought?

Israel’s winning Eurovision entry, this year — Toy, by Netta — sees the singer doing chicken impressions.

Given we’ve two non-European nations that are entries in the contest: Israel, and Australia?   I’ wondering when China will get involved.

They’re more than capable of the sort of silliness needed …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-5-2017: The New York Stock Exchange

Blimey …

I like a good book, every now and again.

Terry Pratchett’s a perennial favourite.

So is Iain M Banks.

So, when a medical company funded by entrepreneur, Elon Musk, came up with what looks like an Iain M Banks inspired neural lace — a device that, in Banks’ Culture novels, lets characters hook up to computerised devices — I was … unsurprised.

But thinking it’ll be Minds, next.

Then … ?

Then ARM announced it was making chips that could be inserted into a living human brain: mostly to help people with spinal damage move various body parts.

Lord knows what any other applications are.

Or implications.

After all, we’ve recently had a large spate of ransomware.   There’s also discussion of security problems with the Internet of things.

My point?   Is that we’re getting nearer to a a cyberpunk future: complete with Intrusion Countermeasure electronics, capable of killing a person.

I have to ask …

Did anyone mention this to William Gibson?

The Daily Teaser — 17-5-2016

Right …

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll realise I’m having issues.

With my stomach, so you know.

Which is why, yesterday, I had a quick series of blood tests: checking out what’s happening with my glucose levels, and liver.

There ’ll be an ultrasound, at some point: to check on my kidneys.

Hopefully, that’ll me know what on Earth’s happening.

~≈Ç≈~

Which reminds me …

I’m off to work, today: an hour earlier than usual, after being contacted by the boss, yesterday.

Quite what’s happening, I don’t know.   I know we’ve a couple of new people who’ve recently started,  and I’m wondering if one has decided the job’s not for them.

I can’t say I blame them …

But it seems a shame …
