Herbert West: Re-Animator (2017) — A review

I’ve had some time to myself, tonight.

Mind you, with the Lockdown being what it is, in the UK?

Who hasn’t … ?

At any rate, I decided to try and watch the recent Italian version of H. P. Lovecraft’s Herbert West – Reanimator.

Called Herbert West: Reanimator.

I’ve wasted my money.

51 — A Review

You know, it has to be said, sometimes, I’m a film fan.

Hmm … that sounds remarkable ambiguous, doesn’t it … ?

What I mean to say, simply, is that I like watching movies.

Sci-fi and horror, for the most part: although I will make an exception, occasionally, if you’re VERY persuasive about a given film.

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, I know what I like, and head straight for it when I can.

Occasionally, though, I manage to dig up a clunker or two.

I think the worst film I’ve managed to catch, recently, was Orcs: and even though I gave it a star and a half, it was a film was a certain sense of irony to it.

Or, at least, had its tongue stuck in its cheek.

But then … ?

THEN there’s the film I managed to catch, last night.

Or not, to be perfectly frank.

The film in question was the 2011 film, 51: one I’d rented from iTunes, after I’d seen its trailer and felt it was worth a punt.

I think I can safely say this.

I was wrong.

It WASNT one capable of holding my attention for more than about twenty minutes: and that’s maybe 15 minutes more than it was worth.

I’ll leave 51: with 0 stars.

And tell you one thing: 51 is a waste of money.

Battle: Los Angeles: Blood, Guts … And not a lot else…

You know, I’ve got to admit, I’ve just seen a film.

But, given I’ve just posted up a poster and screen grab from the film concerned … ?

If you hadn’t guessed that Kevin D and I had got together — after a while — to catch a film, you’d probably not been paying attention … !

But, at any rate, we’d managed to grab ourself a spare evening with a lot of M&M’s and quite a bit of tea.

And a copy of the 2001 DVD release, Battle: Los Angeles.

Hmmm …

Battle: Los Angeles sees Aaron Eckhart as Staff Sergeant Michæl Nantz, a Marine on the point of retirement, and looking forward to some much needed R and R.

Now, I’ve GOT to admit, Battle: Los Angeles left both Kevin and I …

Well, making assorted “Hmmm” noises.

You see, while Battle: Los Angeles has some very good action scenes, that’s really all there is too it.

Oh, granted, they’re realistic and gritty action scenes.

But watching a whole film of one gritty action scene after another … ?

As nicely shoot and choreographed as they are, does begin to pall, after a while.

Which will probably tell you why both Kevin and I gave Battle: Los Angeles the ratings that we did.

Cabin Fever: A Review

Hmmm …

Have you ever faced the thought of a quiet night in, with nowt to watch on TV … ?

I have, occasionally …

Tonight, I have, in fact.   And I’ve got to admit, I thought I should watch the copy of the 2002 film, Cabin Fever that I’ve had sitting around for a while, now.

Can I be frank?

I think maybe turning off the telly and switching on iTunes* — much as I’m doing now — could’ve been time better spent …
