Right … The 47th President of the USA is a twit!

No, really!

It’s under his watch that a leaked email from the Pentagon has shown the US plans to ‘review its position’ regarding sovereignty of the islands.

A review that — at a guess — would ignore the fact the people of the Falklands voted to remain a British Overseas Territory.

I can only assume one thing.

That the US President is asleep on the job …

I’ve got a box set on order: from Amazon.

Or, at least, I have a blu-ray boxset on order: from a third party seller on Amazon.

It’s due to turn up at the start of May.

Here’s hoping it does.

With my building’s aerial still out of commission, I’d appreciate having something to watch!

It’s officially official: I’m waiting.

For several things.

• An honest man.
• A huge stack of cash.
• The realisation that there is a loving God: that truly cares for me and mine.

Those are possibly going to take time.

Or, at least, turn up after the copy of Going Postal I’m expecting … !

I’ve just spoken to his sister, Gill.

It seems he’s been ill, recently: but is on the road to recovery.

I have to admit to watching — or, at least, listening to — the news.

And … ?

And I’m very aware both of the war in the UK … and the fighting in Sudan.

Apparently?

There’s a seventy-two hour ceasefire, to allow foreign nationals out of the country.

Personally?

I grew up in the 1970s: when the Middle East and Northern Ireland were a mess.

No change, there, then!

Either way … 

It’s something that leaves me laughing derisively, and extremely cynically … whenever the word ‘ceasefire’ gets a mention.

Can you blame me … ?

Oh … I went to my fortnightly meeting with my Job Centre case worker, yesterday.

Who took plenty of time to explain my options.

Whilst he wasn’t that clear on when I’d next be needing to go through the assessment process?

He did explain when I’d be next seeing him — in late June — and what would happen if I claimed this, or that, benefit.

Here’s hoping I can claim the Personal Independence Payment: that sounds like it could be useful.

It’s official: President Macron is still President of France.

Having won yesterday’s run-off elections: against the notoriously right wing Marine Le Pen.

Apparently?

A lot of French voters abstained.   By either spoiling their vote, or just walking past the polling booths.

It’s something I’m planning on doing, myself: so good for them.

But given the way some French voters have voted … ?

It strikes me French Presidential elections have a similar problem to UK elections.

There’s no ‘I Abstain,’ box: no way of formally refusing To vote.

That would be VERY useful …

I managed to pick up enough bits and bobs to make myself a goulash.

Which I manage to have, watching the Higgins-Williams match, last night.

Wandering around town … saw me totally forget to get the hair done.

Well, finally … !

You’ve possibly guessed I’m a lot of things.

Including someone living with diabetes.

We’re supposed to avoid some foods, and try and eat others.

No, don’t ask: I’m still learning about it.

I do know I’m supposed to eat more sweet potatoes: in addition to, or replacement for, regular ones.

And?   In case you didn’t know it, there’s at least two different types: red sweet potatoes and white sweet potatoes.

Frankly, I’m getting heartily sick of the common red sweet potatoes.

So, finding a couple of bags of the white ones in Sainbury’s, yesterday?

Was a welcome thing!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had another attempt at a scam.

A woman calling herself Sheryl Sandberg managed to get in touch.

And managed to video call me to make an unconvincing attempt top show me what she looked like … by showing me her on screen picture … 

I blocked her.

You don’t need that, when you’re shopping …

Right … I’ve got my regular fortnightly meeting with the Job centre, tomorrow.

At 10:30.   So I’ll be up and about early.

I know I’ve hand to pencil in at least one thing with my adviser.

I’ve had a couple of temp agencies sounding me out about three month temp contracts: doing the sort of work I was doing at my last job.

I’ve turned them down.

Partly because they wouldn’t necessarily cover my costs.

And partly because neither agency could guarantee they postings would last beyond those three months.

I’m going to have to ask my adviser if that’s OK …

Just so you know!

Apparently?   There’s a burst main in the Queens Road area: that, according to the nice young man I spoke to at Essex and Suffolk Water.

Quite when it’ll be fixed?   He couldn’t say.

But at least something’s happening.

I shop in Sainsbury’s: and use their self service checkouts.

I filmed this, whilst I was there, yesterday … 

Notice that?   The little demo video that tells us where any change — in notes — will be, is showing dollars.

Why?

I’m in the UK.

Where we don’t use the US currency.

And in Brentwood, where we don’t have many US tourists.

Sainsbury should persuade the manufacturer to do a little editing!

I’m up late!

I — yes, you guessed it — forgot to turn my alarm on … !

BLAST … !

But at least it’s not triple blast.

I have this bad habit of recording Dr Who: then transferring them to my Mac, and using a mix of HandBrake and MPEG Streamclip, to edit out bits I don’t need … 

And to turn it into stuff I can use on my Apple TV.

That’s gone through, successfully!

Who needs Blu-ray?

The Daily Teaser — 25-4-2016

Hmmm … 

I think I’m going to have to get a halfway decent moisturiser, I really am!

I’m getting noticeably dry hands.

No, really: I think that — between rough soap, dodgy air conditioning and cold weather — they’re getting as rough as sandpaper.

Painfully so, in fact.   I DO know I’ve managed to dig up some disposable latex gloves for work.

Those will have to do, for now.
