Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th December 2025.

10th December, 2025.

Right … it’s Wednesday!

And … ?

I’ve finished my review of “Homo Aqua”, the first episode of The War Between the Land and the Sea, the latest Dr Who spin-off.

Now all I need to do is persuade people to watch it.

The fact that international audiences won’t be able to see the series until January is going to affect the figures, I think.

That’s not something that will affect my nephew’s lates video, I think.

You can watch that, here:

If you can hit the like button, that would be nice … !

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-12-2024 — Mississippi Burning

10th December, 2024: Mississippi Burning.

It’s official: I have a dentist checkup, today.

Which frankly mean I can jump with joy, once it’s over.

Or, at least, once I’ve picked up the medicated toothpaste the dentist prescribes!

Heigh … … … ho!

Remember, a few days ago, that Brian Thompson — CEO of a huge US health insurance company — was shot by a masked killer.

A suspect — 26 year-old Luigi Mangione — has been arrested in Pennsylvania, charged with possessing an, unlicensed firearm, with forgery and with providing false identification.

New York police have charged him with murdering Thompson.

Apparently?

He was found with a hand-written document that “indicated ‘motivation and mindset’”.

I’d love to know that document said.

I want to know an apparent Ivy League graduate has done this …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-12-2023 — Thailand

10th December, 2023: Thailand.

Yes: it’s Sunday.

And … ?

I’ve managed to get hold of some spare fuses!

And not for want of trying!

I went into my local Sainsbury’s, yesterday: as I need to get some food.

So?   I thought I’d ask about fuses.

They’re listed on the website, after all!

I went through three different assistants — one of whom, in the shop’s branch of Argos, thought I was talking about defusers! — before we worked out the shop had no fuses.

Plenty of charging cables, lightbulbs and USB adaptors … but no fuses.

Or plugs, come to that … !

I ended up buying a packet of fuses in my local Nisa’s, just around the corner.

There’s possibly an irony, there …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser —  10th December 2022.

10th December, 2022.

Right …

I’ve been doing digging.

Some digging.

Or, at least, some messaging.

If you remember yesterday’s Teaser?

I thought I was possibly due an extra £25 Cold Weather Payment.

I’ve checking with a couple of friends about their situations, things sounded iffy.

So?

I messaged my Work Coach, my Job Centre case worker.

Apparently?

I would only get the payment, if I’ve officially been found to have a Limited Capacity for Work.

Something that’s still being appealed.

As a result?   I don’t have a limited capacity for work.

And, therefore, don’t qualify for the extra money.

That?

Is a bit of a bugger.

~≈¥≈~

Did I mention I’ve got piles?

A pile, I should say: of books to be read.

Last night?   I finished Simon Singh’s The Code Book: which was fascinating, I should add.

I finished it … and started on Le Carré’s last Smiley novel, A Legacy of Spies.

It’s looking good, so far: although I’m only one chapter in.

I do know this, though: the font’s a nice size*.

With my eyes?

Readability is everything!

Doctor Who — The Evil of the Daleks: Episode 1 — A Review

10th December, 2021.

Right …

I’m going to do this post in two chunks: I’m starting it, now, so that I’ve got a link I can add to the video introduction that you’ve — hopefully — just watched.

One I can also add to the video version of the review: later tonight, or tomorrow.

Either way?

I’m going to turn off the music I’m playing — the 12” version of Propanga’s Dr Mabuse — then grab a cup of tea …

And watch Episode 1 of The Evil of the Daleks.

Back, soon!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-12-2021 — The Abdication

10th December, 2021.

Hmmm …

That seemed to have helped.

I’ve had issues with the clock on my Mac.

Usually?   And for the past few years?

I’ve had the clock set to announce the time at regular intervals.

Something it stopped doing … after I installed Monterey, the most recent version of macOS.

So I called Apple Support.

Twice.

Which didn’t help.

The third time … ?

They suggested an old trick.

Resetting what’s call the PRAM, (perimeter RAM) or NVRAM, non-volatile RAM: a section of RAM that stores long term settings, roughly equivalent to the CMOS part of a PC’s motherboard.

Something I’d forgotten about, as the last time I’d used it was on a twenty-something G4 Powermac: and something I find fiddly, with my hands.

You have to press P, R, ⌘ and ⌥, on startup, so you know.

At any rate?

That seems to have solved the issue.

For now.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th December, 2020.

10th December, 2020.

Right … I’m going to be stuck indoors, today.

Which means I’ll be able to get some Teaser/Phoenix writing done.

Oh, and possibly get some videos made.

But I’m going to be stuck indoors …

Waiting for an engineer from my landlord to do the annual Gas Safety Check …

Ho … hum … !

~≈†≈~

Are you much of a one for computer games?

I’m not.

But I do keep an eye on it: technology’s interesting, after all.

I’d also grown up around pen-and-paper roleplaying games: including Cyberpunk 2020.

Which has been turned into a video game called Cyberpunk 2077.

There’s a twist in the tale.

On release, Cyberpunk 2077 has been shown to cause epileptic fits.

Which is worrying.

And mildly ironic.

The original roleplaying game was the first to suggest that inducing fits would used to protect computer systems against hackers.

Who said life couldn’t reflect life … ?

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10th December, 2018

10th December, 2018.

Yep: that’s me in the Introduction video: with Echo the White Faced African Owl, and Katness the Reticulated Python.

It was my nephew’s 8th Birthday Party, yesterday: although, strictly?   His birthday’s on Boxing Day.

Either way?

It was rather nice.

Hmmm … I’m not necessarily convinced he wasn’t bored: someone was running around in the street with his friends.

At any rate?

I got the snake and the owl …

Jude got to play with both …

AND the African Pygmy hedgehog …

Just as a quick point of news?

I voted Remain in 2016: as you may or may not know.

For plenty of reasons, I should add.

So a bit of breaking news caught my eye.

The European Court of Justice has officially decided that — should the UK decide to — it can revoke its Article 50 decision, its decision to leave the EU, without consulting other EU members.

I’d love it, personally: but don’t see it happening.

But?

Its nice to know the option’s not going to cause problems.

Stranger Things: Series 2 — Episodes 7, 8 & 9: Chapter 7 The Lost Sister, Chapter 8 The Mind Flayer & Chapter 9 The Gate.

10th December, 2017.

Can I make a confession?

Right now?   I don’t have the heating on.

It’s warm enough as it is.   With just a small electric heater on.

I have had the heating on, though: as a result of the snow that’s been falling all day, and covered a lot of the UK.

It’s not that often I do that.

Today?

I’m definitely feeling the cold.

~≈§≈~

At any rate?

I was expecting to head for a relative in Kent, today.

But couldn’t, because of the weather.

That forced me to stay at home: on a day off.

A day that saw me venturing — carefully — out to pick up some more Christmas cards, as a result of that cancelled visit.

And doing some housework, instead: along side writing a couple of Teasers, writing a few cards …

And catching the last three episodes of Stranger Things, series 2.

When It Snows …

10th December, 2017.

OK, we knew it was — possibly — coming.

Yep …

Brentwood’s got snow!

I should know: I’ve just been out in it.

Frankly?

I’m not surprised things got cancelled …

~≈§≈~

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-12-2017: Mississippi

Hmmm …

It’s a Sunday that I’ve got off.

And … ?

I’m off to Kent, today: to see my Aunty Bella.

Something I know I’m looking forward, to.

It has been a while!

~≈§≈~

On other fronts?

I’ve had another delivery from Amazon.

I have to give them credit for speed, certainly.

But they left it on my doorstep.

I — like many — have arrangements with Amazon: if I’m not in, they’re supposed to leave the package with a specific, named, neighbour.

They didn’t: again.

Which got me complaining.

Again!

I know it’s easy for even an experienced web user make a mistake: and wipe details from a web form.

Something I’ve confirmed I’ve not done.

I know it’s easy for a large organisation to lose basic information, on its way from a to b.

I work for a large organisation that does that, at least once a week.

Even so?

That’s the second time, in the space of a week, that’s happened: and something that also happened, last year.

Not quite what you’d expect, from the world’s biggest shop.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-12-2016

I have to admit I want to go back to bed.

But there you go: that’s what happens when you work evenings.

You get in late, and go to bed late.

One thing I DID manage to do, hitting the sack, last night … ?

Was a little more bedtime reading.

Last night … ?   I got started on Tehanu, the last of four books about Earthsea written by Ursula K LeGuin.

It’s …

Phew …

Beautiful … !

If you get the chance to visit the world that invented boy wizards?

Go get a copy of the collected series.

It’ll repay you …
