Good Omens — Series 3 Episode 1 — “The Finale” — A Review

20th May, 2026: The Introduction.

It’s officially the case: that I’m starting to catch up with myself.

Or, at least, that I’ve got dinner on the go, caught up with the Teasers and released a video: about copying blu-rays discs.

Frankly?

I’m glad I found the ‘drop shadow’ feature in Final Cut Pro.

I don’t know if it does much for the opening titles … but at least the shadowing helps, I think.

At any rate … ?   And with that out of the way?

I can move on.

And catch up with a few things.

One thing I meant to catch up with?

Is a few TV shows.

So, tonight?

I’m going to eat dinner, wash up, boil the kettle … 

And watch the last ever episode of Good Omens.

Given this review will take a while … ?

I expect to have this written review done by Friday, 22d May, and expect to have the video done the same day.

The UK’s holding local elections on Thursday: for both local councils, and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner*.

It looks like there’s a Green candidate standing in my ward, this time.

Who I’m happy to vote for.

If they hadn’t?   I’d’ve done my usual thing: and spoilt my vote.

Which, to be frank?   Is what I’m going to do in the PFCC vote.

There’s no-one on that ballot I want to vote for.

It’s official: I’ve been into town, today!

Strangely enough?

It was the second time I got out of the flat, today: I posted a letter, the first time.

The second time was to have an eye test!

The excitement’s overwhelming you, isn’t it … ?

I’m now, officially, cooking dinner.

Dinner is being cooked.

Stuff has been transferred from an external drive, to TV.app.

Once I’ve eaten, I’m going to be settling in with “Every Day”, the last episode of Good Omens … then tell you about it, tomorrow night.

It’s officially Friday.

And … ?

Potatoes have just been chopped up: then boiled … and shoved into the oven.

Fridays, for the past few months have taken a vague form.

Make and eat dinner.

Watching a video whilst having dinner: and old friend is doing some interesting stuff about Judge Dredd.

Then … ?

Once I’ve eaten, washed up, cleaned my teeth, done the hoovering, conquered the world, and ensured a meaningful peace in the Middle East … ?

Or, at least, washed up … ?

You’re as aware as I am, that it’s damn hot!

Hot enough to make cooking dinner decidedly uncomfortable.

I can only hope that it cools down at some point over the next few days.

Good Omens Series 2 Episode 2 — “The Clue” — A Review

Right … I have to admit to starting this post, very early.

At roughly 11:30 on a Friday morning.

A lot earlier than usual: normally I’m cooking dinner.

I’m looking after my nephew, today.

And I’ve started this review post early, to save time, later.

Good Omens Series 2 Episode 1 — “The Arrival” — A Review.

25th August, 2023: An Introduction.

It’s official: it’s Friday.

And I’ve just turned down my chips.

Turned down the heat of the oven that’s cooking my chips, I should say!

At any rate, it’s Friday: and I’ve had a few weeks off.

At least from watching a TV show, then telling you about it.

The last series I caught?   Was Star Trek Strange New Worlds’ very impressive second series: something that climaxed with the tenth episode, “Hegemony”.

The next series I’m planning to catch … ?

Is the second season of Good Omens.

It’s something I’m looking forward to.

With a certain amount of trepidation.

I’m a fan of Terry Pratchett: the original novel, by he and Neil Gaiman, is something I’m fond of.

As was the original series.

So?   I’m looking forward to this second series: knowing it’s not based on a second book in the universe the pair worked on.

I’m looking forward to it … with some trepidation.

Frankly?

We’ll have to see what I make of this.

I will, as ever, have this first written review up on 26/8/2023: with the video version not long after.

I recorded that video earlier, when I’d just finished dinner: badly wanting to watch a film.

But not — quite then — having deciding, completely, on what to watch.

Picking something … ?

Lifelong Terry Pratchett fan that I am … ?

That decision wasn’t too hard.

I felt settling in with the recently released The Amazing Maurice — based on Sir Terry’s The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents —would be an idea thing to watch.

Did I make the right decision … ?

I think I did.

But … ?

It’s a Wednesday evening, as I start this post.

And?

Frankly, I’m going to go to bed, in a minute: at a time that — twenty years ago — I would have said is a ridiculously early time to go to bed.

But?

The older I get, the more being in bed with a good read is the height of a good time!

So I’m planning to hit the sack with an Arthur Machen story.

But … ?

I felt I should tell you’ve I’ve finally seen the short film version of Terry Pratchett’s Troll Bridge.

And utterly loved it!

I caught a video on TV, last night: the Snowgum Films version of Terry Pratchett’s Troll Bridge.

I’ll have my written — and video — review, done, tonight.

I’ve been talking about the twenty pound uplift to Universal Credit, over the past few days: the one introduced last April, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite a vote in Parliament on Monday?   The extra money is due to end on the 31st March, this year.

I’d rather it didn’t.

It’s a handy thing to have, and has given me extra money towards bills, rent, arrears, shopping … and the occasional iTunes card, and Amazon purchase.

Which reminds me, I need toe nail clippers.

At any rate!?   It’s a useful amount of extra money.

One due to end soon.

I would prefer it not too.

As — according to this report from the BBC? — the cost of living’s going up.

If you can mention that to the Chancellor, I’d thank you.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-10-2020: The Reign of Henry Tudor

30th November, 2020.

I’ve possibly mentioned this before now: I’m something of a Terry Pratchett fan.

I have been, ever since I read The Colour of Magic, back in the day.

And … ?   His diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s was something I felt deeply upset about.

His support for assisted dying?   Something I found hard to accept: but, eventually, came to agree with.

The fact it’s still illegal in the UK?   Is understandable.

But something I believe should be changed.

The reason I mention this … ?

Is the news I’ve seen float along my timeline, today: the people of New Zealand have voted in favour of a law that allows for Assisted Dying.

Granted, the UK’s had issues with referendum, over the past few years.

But I think we could learn from that.

It’s got to be said: lockdown’s a pain.

Right at the moment, the UK’s in the sixth week of the Covid-19 outbreak.

And, frankly?

It’s generating talk, panic, conspiracy theories … and — for me — a lack of a haircut.

You can possibly tell, can’t you … ?

At any rate … ?

I do know that, tonight, I fancied watching a film.

And that, with the recent death of Max von Sydow … ?

The Seventh Seal, seemed an appropriate film to watch.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-4-2020: The Fall

Hmmm … 

Stuff is — truly — going on.

You’ve possibly realised I’m a Terry Pratchett fan: have been since I first read his work, back in the 1980s.

And I’m one of the — seemingly many — fans who’ll be boycotting BBC America’s The Watch as, when and if it gets a UK showing.

It’s wrong, on so many levels.

Including the casting.

At any rate, because of that, I’m planning to avoid it.

But also very pleased when the Guardian announced that Narrativia, the Pratchett family multi-media company had done deals with a couple of production companies: to produce. versions more faithful to the novels.

I’m looking forward to those.

The BBC America version is both wrong … and insulting to the fans, it’s American audience, and Sir Terry’s memory.

I’ve had news … 

Or, at least, a visit … 

As you possibly know — if you’ve been reading the past days’ worth of Teaser posts — that I’ve had. problems with my boiler.

I’ve no hot water, in other words.

I had the initial engineer’s visit on Wednesday.

With the supervisor’s visit — what’s called a DCR survey — on Friday.

The good news?

Is that the supervisor told me he’s going to be recommending I get a replacement boiler: and should hear by Monday.

Here’s hoping.

You’re possibly aware I’m a Terry Pratchett fan: one’s who’s not too pleased by BBC America’s upcoming series The Watch series: based on — or inspired by — his work.

Firstly?   I’m not the only one who’s concerned.

At least, going by this article.

From what I can see?   It’s loosely — very loosely — on Nightwatch: possibly Sir Terry’s best Discworld novel.

Let me share a quote from the last page of the book, if I may?

‘There’s a trial, tomorrow,’ said Vimes sharply.
‘Ah, yes. Of course. And it will be a fair one,’ said the Patrician.
‘It better be,’ said Vimes. ‘I want this bastard to hang, after all.’
p.364, Night Watch, Terry Pratchett.

The bastard in question is a character called Carcer, so you know: he’s the villain of the piece.

Now, I always assumed both Sam Vimes and Carcer were/are white: as Sir Terry doesn’t specify their ethnicities.

Given that?

We have a funny, and cynical, line: that shows us the state Sam Vimes mind after a rough story: and makes a funny comment about the state of the police mind.

The series?

Casts a white actor — Richard Dormer — as Sam Vimes.

And a black actor — Sam Adewunmi — as Carcer.

Suddenly?   That ‘I want this bastard to hang’ line looks distinctly nasty.

It makes my favourite writer look racist, it makes BBC America — the BBC division producing the show — look racist … 

And makes BBC America look like they’re selling a racist product to a country which has stopped its white citizens lynching its black citizens … but still has a problem with white police officer shooting black civilians.

I have enough doubts about the show to not want to watch it.

This … ?

Tells the BBC America has made a serious cock-up.
