Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th October 2025.

27th October, 2025.

Right: I’m officially not up, early, today.

As … ?

My weight management class is off, for the week.

It’s been replaced by a unlisted Slipper Swap.

I’m not going … as the pair I have seem OK at the moment.

Although I might just pass the details on to other people I know: just in case.

~≈🩴≈~

Just in case you’re interested … ?

I finally managed to catch a movie, on Friday: the Danny Boyle directed, 28 Years Later.

Yes: you’re right.

My written and video reviews are now available!

You don’t have to watch it … but if you want to press the Like button Youtube so thoughtfully provides, that would be appreciated … !

~≈🧟‍♂️≈~

I don’t use it much: in fact, I think there’s only one or two specific pages I use it for.

But I have a copy of Google Chrome, both on my phone and on my Mac.

As far as I can tell, both have been updated to the most recent version.

I might want to double check my copies: as, apparently, there’s a serious security issue that needs addressing …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-10-2024 — Beijing

28th October, 2024: Beijing.

Right … it’s official.

It’s another Monday morning.

Which means, of course, that I’m off to my weight management group: and hoping I’ve managed to keep the loss of weight going.

I’d lost 1.2kg, last week: and want to keep that going!

~≈Ω≈~

Something they’ve just announced on the Today programme … ?

Is that Chancellor Rachel Reeves is to announce the scrapping of the capped bus fares in Wednesday’s budget.

I hope they don’t!

Those cheap fares are a life-saver for many of us.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2024 — The Subway

27th October, 2024: the Subway.

Right …

Time’s a-wastin’ … !

But … ?

I have to confess, I’ve got up early!

Frankly?

I’m blaming the clocks going back.

It always throws me off!

~≈⏱≈~

Did I mention I have a new toaster?

And a new fuse board?   One that was installed, last year?

I just tried making toast with the new toaster … which blew the fuse board.

Climbing up a ladder, to reset the thing, early in the morning … ?

Is not what I call fun!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2023 — Tulips from Amsterdam

27th October, 2023: Tulips from Amsterdam.

Right … it’s the day after Thursday …

And I thin I’ve got a cold.

I don’t know for sure.

But do know I’ve got one hell of a blocked up nose!

One day … ?

I’ll manage to blow it!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th October, 2022.

27th October, 2022.

Yep: it’s officially the case that I woke up with an earworm.

The faux African Zabadak, by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch.

So … ?   I’m trying to shift it out of my head: with another song.

Steeleye Span’s Gaudete didn’t work … so I’ve got Newcleus’ Wikki Wikki song on.

That seemed to work.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2021: The Streets Of Philadelphia

27th October, 2021.

Yes!

I’ve encountered a new thing.

Or, at least, new to me.

I had a dental checkup, yesterday.

As a result … ?

I’ve been given a prescription for six tubes of super-strong toothpaste.

That’s new to me.

~≈🧀≈~

OK: I said, yesterday, that I was going to be upgrading my computer’s operating system.

From macOS 11.6.1 Big Sur, to macOS 12.0.01 Monterey.

At some point in the next few days.

That was my intention, at any rate.

I changed my mind, after getting back from the dentist earlier than expected.

Just to summarise?

Downloading the Monterey installer took about an hour: it’s 12.13gb in size.   Something that would normally be quicker: but yesterday was only the second day of release so there was a lot of traffic on Apple’s servers.

I had to remove several large — but relatively unimportant — items from my machine: because of the thing’s size.

The upgrade process, itself?

Took about an hour and a half.

The new OS … ?

Does seemed to have made some improvements.

It looks like;
  • There’s more available space on my main drive as a result.
  • Disk Utility seems to be doing some more accurate reporting.
  • Accessing my Photos collection from the Media browser seems far more responsive.
  • QuickTime* has a couple of extra features that seem useful.
  • There’s a funky new wallpaper.
  • And a matching screen saver.
Monterey’s Default Wallpaper.

About the only downsides of the process?   Was the size of the installer: but to be fair, Monterey has got Intel and Apple Silicon code in it.

And the fact that my copy of iMovie hung, when opening in the new OS: something that was easily solved — my iMovie library was corrupted, so I had to dump it, and build a new one — but I could’ve done without.

On the whole, though?

I’m fairly pleased with the process And look forward to using Monterey.

Watchmen — Series 1 Episode 6 — This Extraordinary Being — A Review

27th October, 2020.

Right …

Unemployment has ups, and downs.

Frankly?   I would rather be earning money: rather than getting it courtesy of the taxpayer.

Regardless of how I’m getting any cash … ?

I have to admit: any way I can entertain myself is welcome.

Over the past few weeks?

You’ve possibly noticed that’s included a few TV shows.

Just recently?

I’ve caught up with the recently restored classic Dr Who story, Fury from the Deep.

But … ?

I’ve also been watching the 2019, HBO series, Watchmen: one episode at a time.

Then, usually, completing the review the following day.

Something I’m planning on doing as we speak.

Thus far, though?

Watchmen series one has been very impressive.

Tonight’s episode?

Even more so … !

Something I’ll tell you about, tomorrow.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2020: Oh, Mr Cleese … !

27th October, 2020.

Right … I am officially bound and determined to watch TV, tonight!

Frankly?   I’m up to episode six of Watchmen: one I’m looking forward to.

We get to see more of a meticulously crafted background world!

If you’ve not seen it?   Feel free to, it’s worth you’re time!

~≈😶≈~

Right at the moment … ?

It’s 8:15.

Which means?

It’s thirty-five minutes since I got a scam call from an Indian call-centre, claiming to be from Amazon.

The woman I got through to, after going to through the automated part of the call, ending up putting the phone down on me: as she got a pile of abuse abuse from me.

I’ll apologise …

But, frankly, getting a scam call at this time of the morning is not something I react well to.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2019: Independence

27th November, 2019.

Yes: it’s official.

I’ve gotten a good night’s sleep … because of clocks.

Or, at least, because of clocks going back, at one — or possibly two — in the morning.

I’m sort of thankful.

I managed to watch the Andrei Tarkovsky version of Solaris, last night.

At two hours and forty-seven minutes?

It’s a bit on the long side.

~≈®≈~

I can’t help but notice that Westminster’s Liberal Democrats and Scottish Nationalists, have joined together: and want to try and trigger a general election on the 9th December, this years.

Rather than on the 12th of December, as suggested by Boris Johnson.

Between them, they represent a hefty chunk of parliamentary seats.

I’ve got my own issue with both dates, frankly.

Politicians, everywhere, encourage the likes of you and me to vote for someone.

Like any of us, they want to keep their jobs.

One way of encouraging that, is to make sure voters turn up to vote.

One way to contribute towards that?

Is simply to make sure elections are held in spring, summer, or early autumn.

When the weather’s nice.

Whether an election is held on 9th December, or 12th December?

I think the fact some MPs want it in December means that the (potentially bad) weather will mean an election has a low voter out.

I can’t see that benefitting anyone …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th October, 2018

27th October, 2018.

Yes, it’s true.

It’s early: after all, I’m off to work, today.

And … ?

One way or the other, it’s two early to have an earworm.

Especially if the only way to get rid of it is to play it to you … !

~≈§≈~

A few months ago, Tyler Barriss phoned police in Kansas: telling them he was holding hostages.

And gave the police a false address: a rival Call of Duty player’s.

Barriss is facing charges.

More charges, in fact.

Personally?

I’m British, and think armed police is a hideous idea.

But have never seen their part in this as a bad thing: they were, after all, doing what they were trained to do in an armed hostage situation.

But I’m glad Mr Barriss is being charged.

This sort of prank?

Is not good.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2017: Black Cat Day

Right …

I’m officially been and gone up early.

You could possibly tell, couldn’t you … ?

Or possibly not.

At any rate, I’m up early, to go to work, early: and hoping my innards don’t play up.

I DO know I was careful about what I ate, last night.

AND managed to catch the first episode of Freak ShowAmerican Horror Story’s fourth season.

It’s looking good.

Although I have to say: the BBC, back when they made the TV version of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Dot and Betty Tattler would’ve caught the effects department’s attention!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-10-2016

Well …

Well, what, I hear you ask … ?

Well, I’m tired, I’d have to reply.

I think missing my alarm, yesterday was annoying …

Buy also mildly beneficial: it meant I got some more sleep.

Saying that … ?

I was up relatively late.

Watching a film, believe it or not.

I don’t know if you say the first one?

But The Conjuring 2 really is worth catching.
