Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2026.

17th February, 2026.

Right … I am officially feeling tired … after getting up at 5·20!

I’ll be honest, I got — for me — something of an late night: after finishing a review of an episode of Stranger Things.

Episode two, if you’re curious: The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler.

So … ?

Getting up as early as I did, doesn’t exactly light my fire.

I can only hope the review — and its in-depth discussion of the difference between a vest, and a waistcoat — gets it a few views …

~≈🦺≈~

Oh …

I mention my weight, in today’s introduction video: as I was at my weight management class, yesterday.

Wouldn’t you know it?

My weight’s gone up a kilo!

I think joining Crisps Anonymous might be a good idea … !

Here in the UK, we’re supposed to have local elections, every-so-often.

The next one in Brentwood?

Is due on 7th May of this year.

Many, however, have been delayed: as many local councils are to be reorganised.

Except, of course, central government has had to put plans to delay some thirty elections on hold: after Reform decided to take the Government to court, to force the elections to go ahead.

I don’t like the idea of delaying elections, I really don’t: we should have our say, regardless of any planned  changes.

Mind you … I don’t like the idea of Reform, of all parties, belabouring the point.

But, love ’em or hate ’em … ?

They’ve force central government into a screaming U-turn.

This Labour government’s fond of those …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-2-2025 — Michael Jordan

17th February, 2025.

Yay!

It’s Monday … !

The starting day of a new week, one that lets hop, skip, jump, and dance: whilst waving our hands around, excitedly … !

OK … maybe not … !

At any rate … ?

I’ll be off to my weight management group, this morning.

My weight was up, last week.

Hopefully, I’ll’ve lost some!

~≈⚖️≈~

Hmmm …

It seems British PM, Keir Starmer, has stated he is happy to put British troops on the ground, in the Ukraine.

I’m not sure I like that idea.

It’s … …

Well, I don’t know that I can express why I think it’s a bad idea: but I feel it’s a bad idea.

Even if it seems to be part of a European peace-keeping force.

The Today programme has also told us that some US Government figures — I believe they’re quoting Marco Rubio — have said that Ukraine joining NATO would be bad.

As it would not guarantee peace, or prevent another invasion …

I’m …

Somehow, I’m not surprised about it.

And feeling deeply cynical.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February 2024.

17th February 2024.

 Right …

I’ve now got an external drive: a new one.

One that has a smaller capacity than my two main ones.

But?

One that’s already correctly* formatted for what I have in mind: as portable back-up for important documents.

It’s just a bit smaller — in physical size — than I thought.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February 2023.

17th February, 2023.

Right …

I have to dusty in … !

I’m expecting a plumber: to check my aging bath tube, and change the tap in my kitchen sink.

Unfortunately?

I’ve been told he’ll turn up between eight AM and five PM.

Bar possibly sneaking out to put my cost of living voucher onto my gas?

I’m going to be stuck indoors all day!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2022.

17th February, 2022.

Yep: it’s Thursday, again.

You can tell, can’t you … ?

And, once again?

I’ve got a weight management class: via Zoom.

I have to admit, it’s helpful: but, lord, it’s a drone-fest!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2021.

17th February, 2021.

It’s officially the case … that it’s Wednesday.

Frankly?

That means a quiet day: bar getting a lift to a local food bank.

Fresh fruit, and maybe some cocoa, would be nice!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2020.

17th February, 2020.

Yep: I’ve officially spent last night in front of a computer screen.

Reviewing The Haunting of Villa Diodati, last night’s episode of Dr Who.

Did I tell you I’m knackered as a result?

I’m knackered as a result.

Still …

I can go back to bed later …

~≈Ö≈~

Possibly … ?

After I’ve done a little fiddling about.

Remember me mentioning that I’m potentially getting hold of a cheap laptop?

And trying to set up an Ubuntu installer for it?

The app I’ve got, that — theoretically — lets me do this, seems to be having issues.

I have managed to find instructions on how to do this, via a set of Terminal commands.

All well and good: except that — as far as I can tell — I need to enable my root account: and set up a password for it.

Not necessarily something I’m comfortable about: as the root account is too powerful for every day use.

I think … I’ll have to use my old MacPro: then let you know …

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-2-2019: Madam Butterfly

17th February, 2019.

Yes … I’ve got a cold!

Damn it!

I am … well, in a very definite non-McDonalds way?

I’m not loving it.

I’ve also got an earworm: actually I’ve got a couple of them.

I’v got Helicopter, Helicopter and Breakfast — both from The Associates album, Perhaps — banging through my head: at complete cross-purposes …

Oy … !

The only upside to those tunes … ?

Is that the late Billy McKenzie’s voice is still fantastic … even though the man himself is long gone.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2018.

17th February, 2018.

Things first … ?

Let me gently yawn: it’s an early start, as I have to get to work.

And confess that yes:  could WELL be an interesting weekend.

My birthday present could be turning up.

Early!

Frankly, I’d be grateful if it did: transferring over accounts usually takes a while!

Ahem!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17-2-2017: Ruth Rendell.

Right …

Back to the metaphorical action, today.

I’m back to work.

And faced with a conundrum.

As — according to a letter I received, yesterday — my Universal Credit has ended, as I’m now earning enough money to support myself.

Which doesn’t mean I’m rich: not by a long shot!

It just means I don’t get help with the rent: which was very useful.

Strictly, though?   Well … a few months ago I looked at applying for Tax Credits: but couldn’t, as I was on Universal Credit.

Given that’s now ended, I’ve managed to apply for the application form, again, on the government’s website.

We’ll have to see how it goes.

~≈Ü≈~

As an extra thought … ?

JUST as an extra thought, I actually managed to sit down with a film, last night.

Rather than more episodes of Mr Robot.

Yep.

I’ve finally managed to catch up with The Cabinet of Dr Caligari.

I know early 20th Century silent, German, horror films aren’t going to appeal to everyone.

But I think it’s worth a watch.

The Daily Teaser — 17-2-2016

Boy, but I’m yawning, at the moment … !

Mind you … I was up late.

Believe it or not?   Watching some episodes of The Strain, something I’d bought from iTunes on a whim.

A whim … and a bit of a gamble.   Sometimes, one doesn’t know what one’s going to get.

Saying that … ?

Going on the quality of the episodes, so far, it’s a gamble that’s paying off.

Corey Stoll and Mia Maestro make for sympathetic leads, David Bradley — the world’s favourite crusty old git — is good as the series’ equivalent of Abraham van Helsing, and the strigoi — the monsters in The Strain —suitable scary.

I just wish I’d, maybe, you know … not taken as much time, doing the write up.

Oy Veh!
