Right … it’s either official … or it’s officially official.

Yes: the air fryer has turned up.

I’ve not used it, as yet.

But?

Note a couple of things.

One?

It’s heavier than I expected.

Which really isn’t an issue: as it’s going to stay sat on a counter top for most of its working life.

Two … ?

It’s got a push button mechanism, for when you need to take the basket, out.

That’ll be handy.

The other thing I got?

Was equally as useful, I think.

It’s a double-ended wosname …

Thingy … doodah … Hoofer doofer … 

Double ended USB stick!

In other words, a USB stick with a USB A connection at one end, and a USB C connection at the other.

As I’m sure you know, most smart phones have USB C ports, ports that can be used to charge the phone.

But that can also be used — through the magic of USB On-The-Go/OTG — to connect the phone to printers, monitors … oh, and double-ended USB sticks.

Why are they handy?

They’re handy because you’re always going to have something on a phone, that you need to put on a computer, more quickly than you can with bluetooth, or via the net.

Plugging a USB stick into your phone, then into a computer?

Seems a handy way of doing that*.

At a thankfully cheap, local barbers!

OK, granted, there’s possibly cheaper places in Brentwood.

But?

Eighteen pounds (£18/€21/$22) seemed reasonable.

And?

The place is nearby!

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-1-2022: Burns Night

25th January, 2022.

Yes, I’ve got a meeting, today: with my case worker from the Job Centre.

One that she’s told me is going to be by phone: but that the record has show has to be at the Basildon office, as there’s a general move to start getting claimants back to the office for these things*.

Like I say: my case worker has assured me — several times — that it will by phone: indeed, she said that when we arranged it, last week, and has repeated that every time I’ve messaged her about it.

Given I worry?   And am very aware the Department of Work and Pensions can suspend your benefit payments, if you don’t attend meeting or do a regular job hunt?

I’ve kept a record of these messages.

Should push come to shove, I want to make sure I’ve got a record of these exchanges: just to make sure.

Oh, did I mention my nephew, Jude, was over, last night … ?

25th January, 2021.

Right … it’s officially Monday: and I’m expecting it to be quiet.

I have to admit, though: that I caught another episode of Star Trek Discovery, on Saturday.

And thoroughly enjoyed it.

You have to love an episode directed by Jonathan Frakes.

I’m out of work, at the moment: and, like others on Universal Credit.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll be aware that I — and everyone else on the benefit — are receiving an extra twenty pounds a week, as a result of the COVID pandemic.   About €22, or US$27.

It’s due to end in late March.

And — from what I’ve seen on the news? — many of us receiving it would rather the extra money was made a permanent addition to UC.

It’s quite literally a life line.

There’s been talk of replacing the £20 with a £500*, one off, payment.

Something that would be nice … but less preferable than the weekly payment.

There’s now — according to the Metro, and others — talk of a £1000* one off payment.

I’d … 

I’d like to have a grand: I would.

But think it’s much like the discussed £500 payment.

Not as useful as useful as the £20 a week extra.

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-2-2020: Burns Night

25th January 2020.

I have to admit, I am seriously annoyed at YouTube.

Really annoyed.

As you may know, I had been accepted onto YouTube’s Partnership programme.

In other words?

I could earn money from advertising revenue.

Until yesterday … when YouTube decided they would take me off the programme.

NOT something I’m happy about, understandably.

The reason they’ve done it … ?   Is that I have to much ‘Reused content.’

Quite what that means … ?

I’m not TOO sure: but apparently ‘ … it may also mean that we’ve identified that large portions of your channel either completely match other content, or are noticeably similar.’

It means — as far as I can tell — that I’ve a lot of culling to do, before I reapply in late February.

Yep: I’m officially off to Brentwood High Street, today.

I’ve got … a dental hygienist appointment!

My dentists makes appointment’s with the students ones for free, as I’m on universal credit!

All good.

I just hope it doesn’t take long … !

It’s a Thursday.

It’s a Thursday when I’m up on time: after getting to bed late.

There’s a good reason for that.

Yep: they went askew, yesterday.

There was a defective rail in Ilford … 

Personally?

I just though it was wind …

On other fronts — and the reason why getting home late was worrying — is simply the fact I have a doctor’s appointment, today.

It’s going to be a routine one: that I, hopefully, get to on time.

I’ve an under-active thyroid: so I have blood tests, every so often, to check on it.

Hopefully?   The recent batch of tests won’t show up anything else.
