Right … 

It’s not Thursday.

Which means it’s the day after by regular diabetic retinopathy test: an eye test designed to see if type two diabetes has damaged the nerves in my eyes.

It hasn’t, over the last few eyes: so, hopefully, it won’t show any this year.

I do know I had to had the usually eye drops, when the tests were performed: so my pupils dilated enough for the interiors of my eyes to be visible.

Usually?   Things look brighter for some time afterwards, and we’ll have slightly blurred vision for some hours afterwards.

My vision is now back to normal.

But … ?

I swear, it takes longer every time!

Right … I’m up early, again.

As I’m hoping to get to my GP’s surgery for — *pauses for dramatic effect* —  a pneumonia shot!

Considering pneumonia can be nasty, I’m glad I qualify for it!

I’m equally glad to have the excuse to head for town.

Because?

Well, it means I can find a convenient postbox, and:

• Post Christmas card.
• Buy stamps for international Christmas cards.

Quite what that’s going to cost me, I don’t know.

But I suspect the word ‘extortion’ is going to be used … !

When I started this post, it took several attempts to upload the image.

Why?

I don’t know, but that hasn’t put me in a good mood.

On the potential upside … ?

As you might know, my street’s mobile phone service has been dreadful since June 2020: as a result of a mast getting taking down.

Yesterday, O2 — my mobile phone providers — sent me a text message.

Its seems that — on 9th December — O2 will be doing some ‘essential work,’ in the CM14 4PQ area of Brentwood.

It looks — if I’ve read the maps right — like they’re doing work some work near the top end of Western Road.

Somewhere near the top end of Western Road.

Nowhere near where a signal’s actually needed.

Hmmm …

Right … 

I’ve officially had to re-arrange my dentist appointment.

I had a dentist appointment arranged for yesterday: but suspected it had been cancelled.

As it turned out?   It had been.

The surgery hadn’t managed to get in touch with me to say so.

But, given the COVID 19 situation, and the continuing issues with the phone mast … ?

I can’t say I blame them.

I have managed to re-book the check up for late January, 2021.

Hopefully, that’ll go ahead.

Actually, talking of COVID 19?   Which we went, entirely, but it’s going to crop up!

Warners Brothers recently announced they would be releasing Wonder Woman 1984 to cinemas — and to the HBO streaming service — on Christmas Day, this year: as a result of the COVID 19 situation.

I’m looking forward to it, frankly.   The first one was very impressive.

At any rate?

They’ve also announced they’re going to be doing something similar with a lot of their other releases: including Dune.

OK, granted: that’s going to lead to a lot of web ripped pirate copies.

But hopefully?

It’ll mean you and me get to see a movie, legitimately.

And a movie company — and those that depend on it for work — get to keep working.

I have the day off, today.

I’m jobhunting, so you know: and on a course designed to help with interview technique, and CV writing.

We’ve got home work, by the way: re-writing our CVs.

At ANY rate !   We’ve got the day off.

Out tutor’s at a conference in Stevenage.

I think posting cards picking up medication is the order of the day …

Yes: it’s officially official, again.

I’ve got an interview for today.

In Romford.

And, again?

It’s another job I’m not sure I actually want.

While it’s a customer services job — a shop worker, in other words — that’s looks weekly paid … ?

It’s only until Christmas.

Three weeks work, in other words.

Yes, I’m aware these things can lead to long term work.

At least they can, in some industries.

But … ?

Three weeks work, with no guarantee of any more is just a little … unreassuring …

How’s your MP?

Or Senator, representative, Congress-person, Deputy, what have you?

More specifically, how are they on computer security?   Basics like not opening iffy emails, keeping things as updated as possible?

Stuff like that?

I try and keep up: although I suspect I have more bad cyber-security habits than I should.

I try not to hand my password out to all comers, though.

Unlike Nadine Dorries, MP for Mid-Bedfordshire.

Who, in order to deal with her constituency emails, lets her staff access that account on her computer, with her account’s password.

Her account on her computer, rather than just her email account.

Any of her constituents who email her sensitive documents, will have them read by anyone in her parliamentary office.

And, theoretically?   Can be stolen by one of those members of staff: and passed on to third parties.

From the little I also know?

Giving access to her account means those staff members can access Ms Dorries’ machine: and, given good reason, can do all of damage.

Personally?

I realise she’s not a government minister: and won’t have access to sensitive government material.

But, as a constituent?

I hope my MP isn’t as lax.

I’d rather his staff weren’t handing my details to others.

Drat … !

I’ve got an issue with my machine machine … 

I managed to use it, yesterday: to wash my pants.

During this procedure?

The machine went and flooded the kitchen.

Think I’ll be needing a plumber …

In other fronts?   There’s some good news for Chrome and Firefox users, doing the rounds.

As you may or may not know, Facebook’s been criticised: for allowing too many iffily sourced news stories onto users timelines.

As a result … ?

An open source developer, Daniel Sieradski, as come up with BS Detector: an extension for Google Chrome and Firefox, that flags up dubiously sourced news pieces on Facebook and Twitter.

Personally … ?

I can’t help but approve.

I think anything that squelches dubious news is a good thing.

Especially if it put a stop to the kind of idiot ‘news’ stories that neo-Nazi groups like Britain First put out.

Here’s hoping …
