Yes: it’s official: I’ve had a blu-ray delivered.

And have another on the way.

The one I had delivered, yesterday, was the 4k version of the Dr Who TV movie.

Which I haven’t seen in years, so I’m looking forward to seeing it, again.

I’ve also had a charging dock delivered: for the game controller I got, a few weeks ago.

Which I’ll have to use, at some point: once the plug for it, turns up!

At any rate … the first blu-ray I ordered has turned up.

The second, a copy of Village of the Damned, is due on Monday.

My sister, Ruth — my nephew’s mother — replaced her old laptop with a ChromeOS-based Chromebook.

Until it gave up the ghost: and got replaced with another one!

I’m going to have a go at resetting it for her: and see if we can sell it on.

I’m mildly nervous about that: it’s a platform I’m unfamiliar with.

So … ?

It’s going to be a learning process.

At any rate?

There’s election news.

Isn’t there always?

Seemingly?

The Tories have announced they’re planning to re-introduce National Service, if they’re re-elected.

Although they won’t make people do military service.

Which I always understood was the point.

At any rate?   Should it be implemented, making joining the military voluntary is possibly the best way to go.

From the little I’ve understood, standard UK military doctrine is to only accept people who volunteer to join.

They’re felt to be better motivated.

Just to keep things balanced?

Labour has announced that it plans to lower the voting age, should it win the election: from 18, to 16.

I like the idea.

But … ?

I still think it;

• Should’ve been introduced, years ago.
• Been introduced in the Brexit Referendum.

That could’ve made all the difference!

Right … it’s officially Saturday … and I think I can put my feet up … 

Once I’ve finished this next batch of Teaser videos.

And done a few other bits and bobs.

One thing I know I did, yesterday?

Was sort out my pharmacists.

After getting some Ozempic from one in Warley, recently?

I found that the next set of meds I needed … ?   Had gone there … rather than to my usual chemist.

With that sorted, online?

I went into town, to poke my head around their door.

I wanted to check on the options for replacements for Ozempic*.

There’s a shortage, you know.

Right … 

I’m unemployed: and claim various benefits.

It’s a struggle: as I’m sure you can imagine.

During the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic — over 2020 and 2021 — those of us own Universal Credit received and extra twenty pounds a week.

Something that amounted to a welcome eighty-six pounds a month.   (About €101/US$108, at today’s prices.)

It was damn useful, very appreciated … and withdrawn late last year.

Ever since?   I — as many others — have found things difficult.

Especially as fuel prices have taken a turn for the worst.

Yesterday?

Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that households are to received a four hundred pound discount on their fuel bill.

And those households in most need will receive an extra six hundred and fifty pound grant: half in October, half in July.

The article doesn’t say which July: 2022 or 2023!

At any rate … ?

It’s a welcome — ish — move.

I should gain a total of £1050, under the plans.   (About €1233/US$1325, at today’s prices.)

Thirty pounds less than the Uplift gave me.

It’s also paid in various forms of lump sum: when frankly, so much a week extra on Universal Credit would be more useful.

It’s … 

Well, I’ll have to thank Mr Sunak for making the effort.

But, frankly?   A restored uplift would have been handier.

Which is nice.

I’m due to have the second of my two COVID-19 jabs, today: at 12:18.

It’d would be nice to see sunshine on the way there …

I had the thing delivered, yesterday: along side a blu-ray box set.

And managed to use it, last night.

Mashed spuds, with garlic?

Right … 

I see that that the European election results for England and Wales are in.

And that the Brexit party have done well off the back of them.

Not something I wanted to see: but not unexpected.

I’m ALSO very aware both the Liberal Democrats, and the Greens, have done well.

With both the Conservatives,  and Labour … losing significant amounts of seats.

Personally … ?

Right now, I feel a general election would be a good thing.

Although I realise a hard-line group like the Brexit party will do well, right now.

But, right now?   The deadlock in Parliament has to be broken.

It’s Saturday … !

Which means, of course, that I’m working until ten o’clock, tonight.

Which also means I’m going to be taping tonight’s episode of Dr Who.

Or, at least, record it.

What always amazes me how, sometimes?

Is the way that — sometimes — a word will stick around: long after the technology that spawned it.

Mind you, given old fashioned vinyl’s been given a new lease of life?

I’d not be surprised to see Mr Robot or Dr Who on a new version of VHS!
